- Shield pressure is a staple of high level smash, but so many people fail to apply it as well as deal with it on the defensive end. Let's breakdown what good shield pressure is and what our options are if we find ourselves against someone who is good at it.

wake up babe new mikey d luffy video!
yus another upload! some of the most quality smash analysis/tutorial videos available!
Phenomenal video man!
Something I would like to learn are the most important habits to look out for. Cause I feel like there are alot of things to try and take mental note of. How they approach, how they react when I approach, what they do out of shield, ledge options, how they recover ect. I know all of these things can be important but trying to pay attention to and remember all of them at once I find difficult. If I try to pay attention too much it slows down my gameplay. Maybe if I can just focus on the most important things for now it would help, but I'm not sure what the most important things even are that I should be looking out for.
Great video btw, all of your videos are rly helpful in understanding certain aspects of the game. 👍
Start by focusing on just one habit and as you get the hang of it, slowly add in more. I think getup options are a good place to start
Oh and save your replays! Watch them and look for your opponents habits and study how you could have punished them better
Yooo the return
More to come!
Great vid as always! It’s an old vod but I think gluto vs Leo at evo would be a great set to analyse, Leo’s aggression and conversions were just godlike.
LET'S GOOO MORE MIKEY VIDEOS
Glad I found you man.. doing some serious training for a tourney in the fall. Your vids are fantastic study material. 🙏
Appreciate it! Hope the videos have helped out
Been waiting for you GOAT
since you have the training mod now i reccomend you use the save state feature instead of resetting since save states don't restart the music. listening to the same 10 seconds of persona music gets a little gratung lol
keep up the great work tho 💯 love your vids
haha thanks for the tip, didn't know that Save states keep the music going
MIKEY D!
Hope you keep making some sick smash vids. Some of the most enjoyable smash content on the youtube.
Did you fix your trash internet, would love to see some gameplay vods where you do this analysis on your own sets and then implement it
Appreciate the love! And yeah I have. Just getting back into smash in the last few days so that might not be a bad idea!
Really missed your content. You and MetaOfSmash really put in the work.
Any chance you'll review some of Leo's latest sets? I really want to understand his game better.
This is among the best video ever done on shield pressure. The only rival to this is Izaw's guide.
Wassup bro! Glad to see another video! Are you excited for multiversus? 'Cause I am and I think you're contenr would do great in thzt game aswell! Also how have you been?
Alright! Nobody believe this "person" they're a sleeper agent from Warner Brothers. Unrelated note, I'm probably gonna play Arya Stark. lesgo

Single handedly got me playing again haha, I love it
Guys….don’t pressure with Gannon Uptilt.
(😂)
I'm a little suprised you didnt crossup with bair, I feel that is a classic technique. Since you can hit pretty far in the front of someone's shield with a bair while still facing them which will actually send the opponent in the direction of the aerial making it crossup easier and even more ambiguous. You could do this with a rar fair as well if your fair is stronger, the stronger the move the more shield pushback(or pushforward in this case) it has which is typically bair. In smash 4 I used to see shiek players go in front of peoples shields and land on them with bair which would push the opponent forward enough for a tricky crossup.
Ayyy another tab to keep open when you facing me EHHHHHH
Letsgoooo
hey man who do you like better pyra or tifa
need that training mod 🤧
Could anyone link me a tutorial on getting this training mod? I know my switch is gen 1 and mod-able.
I used this guide
ruclips.net/video/BqDiwP59NW0/видео.html
I just googled "Switch Jig" on amazon for the tool you need, costed a few dollars
@@MikeyDLuffy thanks mikey!
I think you left out a big part of shield pressure in that you don't have to hit their shield at all. Especially vs a character like gnw it's often better to not touch it. Shield is a disadvantageous state by itself since you cannot move or use grounded moves out of it.
I like your content a lot BTW.
yeah I actually had a clip ready talking about this but I decided to save it for a video on movement to show off how good movement alone can put your opponent in disadvantageous situations (like shield)
The clip is from smash 4 but it was here : ruclips.net/video/2nRUC7u29HU/видео.html
At the timestamp, the ZSS player through movement alone scares sonic into shield, and eventually roll which gets him the kill. You're right though, I could have easily included it in this video but it was getting kinda long.
@@MikeyDLuffy Yeah I get that, there are so many ways to shield pressure, you can't cover them all in a short video. Things like tomohawk jab and projectiles, and its all very character dependent. I just figured I'd mention waiting because I think one of the biggest obstacles to overcome when learning how to deal with shield is learning that you don't have to hit it.
Yeah, but you still have access to panic options like roll, jump or aerial OoS out. I feel that when people say that, they're somehow thinking shielddrop is the only option.
I struggle a lot agaisnt shields because I don't have free pokes or a good grab. Even if you say I don't "need" to hit them, if I just let them sit there, it's like I'm letting them off for free.
@@jackherbic6048 Well, I hear you now. Between this and Mikey's clip, I understand a bit better. I just always use to deal with shield naturally, and Ultimate sort of crippled that in making grabs worse and stronger panic options.
In that same clip, you can see V115 run through shield, which something I also used a lot back then (which isn't in Ultimate).
What's up with Cloud's voice? it sounds weird.
