Teardown.. NOW.... Really curious to see (a) if it can be flashed or (b) it can be gutted or (c) a Pi Zero could replace the innards but connect to the screen and buttons?
I really don't understand why nintendo doesn't produce an original gameboy with a modified LCD screen, rechargeable battery and able to play the original carts!?! NINTENDO! If you can hear me, DO IT!!!! PUT ALL THOSE WANNABE GAMEBOY "DEVELOPERS" TO SHAME.
I mean aside of the LCD screen update, they have technically have done this with the Gameboy Advance SP which is backwards compatible.

Theres 2 things i dont like about it...i wish it included mariokart for snes...and the mortal kombats...its also too small of a screen

Why is this so hard. All I want is:

You could actually very easily modify this with a raspberry pi!!
This uses a very common screen driver board that has pins for composite in !
A little cutting inside, attaching a pi, soldering the composite pins, attaching the controllers to the GPIO, and perfect!
television and cheese and connecting the battery through an app and adding a charging port in parallel with the battery etc ...
Would love to learn how to mod the screen!

This actually looks much better than majority of those small-size emulation consoles. The screen is huge comparing to most of those.

I bought one because of this video. Controls are good and game selection covers most of the famous titles plus my favorite Macross game which I don't think is included in Bittboy. The 3-inch screen is a wow although you may have to find your perfect viewing angle because White projectiles sometimes get lost in the brightness or contrast of the screen. With that said, this is the best cheap knock-off GameBoy for the price! I tinkered with roms, flash cards in gameboy cartridges before but it's nice to have a ready to play handheld that you won't regret getting stolen or damaged. Find the ones that are $18.99 in eBay for Retro FC

Totally with you. Mini was so much better. I think they went to micro for the very reason that it needs replacing more often. I have mini cables from 10 and 11 years ago that still fit perfectly and function perfectly. Micro is such a letdown.

ProBro_NL maybe build a display adapter for the screen as well as a config for the resolution for retropie on the pi zero w?

that thing would be worth buying if only for the shell and battery and hack a pi zero w in there seriously. i too like to looks of it, but man what a shame.
Totally not applicable to the topic of gameboy games, or famicom games, but your hands are really dry. Try getting some sheabutter hand lotion. I suggest Bourbon from Bath and BodyWorks. It's really good. Apply it right after your shower, when your skin is still moist. If you apply it daily for a week it will help with the dry, flakey, cracking skin. Help you get ladies.

A great handheld for modding, should be easy to add a raspberry pi and some shoulder buttons.
Here for the giveaway, seen this system quite a bunch on Ali express but never bought one. Your channel is in my top 10 favourite channels (not just saying that for the giveaway I genuinely mean it, looking inside these handhelds is so interesting to me)
Convince Shawn to do a Pi0 mod on this thing, or you do it. Really as long as either you or Shawn do it, I'll be happy.

You can easily 3D print a shell and buttons and then use an existing board like a Raspberry Pi. Its been done.

If you want the best budget homebrew console of 2018 get a "RS-97" console and install dingux on it , it runs a ton of consoles, pc ports like Doom etc... Just fine

I prefer the normal gameboy color and SP, I like the cartridges.
You should do a teardown on the Retro FC and show your viewers what's inside, chips, onboard serial connector (for hacking) etc. Maybe all is not lost and that thing can be re-programmed?

Thanks for this i was about to buy one on ebay but decided aginst it. I want to play actual nintendo games on something like this. Saved time with this review.
I recommend the GPD XD for those who can afford it. Can run all sorts of nice emulators at decent quality. Or get a 3DS and with certain flashcarts, you can run homebrew, which means you can run emulators on it.
