Okay, so he goes e5. Now a lot of people here would just lazily develop the knight to f3, but we actually have a move here that poses a lot of practical problems for black and is borderline winning for white. The move is Ke2, and do not worry I will explain this more thoroughly after the game. Now you might look at this position and say, 'isn't this weakening our king and blocking in our pieces?' And while that may be true, you guys need to start thinking long term. In the endgame, it will be a huge advantage to have our king activated in the center. Furthermore, black has no threats here, his bishops are biting on granite - he is not going to checkmate us any time soon, our king is perfectly well defended on e2. Now he does have a nasty little defensive resource he can try here, let's see if he finds it. Wow, Ke7 he finds it. This guy is good. Now guys, I don't wanna hear any baseless accusations, we will check with an engine after the game. It's not unthinkable that a 1500 finds this move. No black has not equalized, we just need to play clinically to secure our advantage.

I’m quite bad at chess. Your videos give me hope to improve. I typically don’t stick around for post game analysis but I’m starting to. Hopefully this helps me improve an understanding of these positions and how to approach the game in general. Thank you 😊
What a serious underperformance from a 2000 rated. Normally when I match 2000s they know to think at the proper times when position is at a decisive crossroad rather than this guy who waited to calculate after he was already lost
I’m in no place to criticize them because a 2000 would crush me 100% of the time, but every other game I’ve seen at this rating they hold on much longer. This guy made several 1-3 second moves though
Love the 4 knights scotch, people go into it so nonchalantly because they think how little theories and how dry it is, but especially on low to intermediate playing aggresively is not most people's style and I get a lot of easy checkmates and induce blunders from my opponents as a result.
21:18 "and you just have to ask yourself, like what do you want? Do you want to always be entertained, or do you want to actually learn some theory so that you can get good positions out of the opening?" I'm sure Danya didn't intend this, but this feels so much like shots fired towards Levy 😅
This is why I really wish more people played 15+10 games. While you may still make mistakes, you at least invest more time behind “blind” moves That said, I’ve fallen out of chess practice myself. But sometimes a break away is nice (1515 as of now)
I think it really depends on your level, of course 15+15 is good in a general sense of improvement, but for an 1800+ a blitz game can be decently deep, if analyzed afterwards, without the time constraints that a "long" rapid game would put. I enjoy playing 10+0 at least once a week though, to not fall for the superficiality of blitz.
Bonjour ! I love the content of this channel. A big thank you for all your work. Hi Daniel, thank you so much again for such detailed information. Your videos are priceless. I think the explanation after the games works better than during the game... in my personal opinion.
Danya didn’t mention it, but black has a pretty sharp option in the main line after 8. exd5 O-O 9. O-O Bg4. Curious what his recommendation is here as black scores very well here, and is recommended by Jan Gustafsson.
I won't call it sharp, its just forcing draw the quickest way. After f3 Bh5,Qd4+ with Bxc3 coming and Qxc6 everything simplifies and you can instatly agree to a draw. This opening makes sense for white if they are fine with draw and maybe slightly pressing.
@@michamotyka648 Qd5 is if white goes for 11. dxc6 which isn’t very ambitious and just leads to a simplified equal position. 11. Bg5 is maybe more ambitious.
In the d5 line, where you recommend h3, I usually play Ne2 there. I'm not sure if that's a good move, but I'm glad you are showing me more options. Thank you.
What exactly dictates an inaccuracy? Obviously the top move is the most accurate move, does that mean anything less, even the second top move is an inaccuracy? Or does a move have to lose you some amount of advantage to be considered an inaccuracy?
I'm very proud of myself, because I found the h7 tactic to win the queen. I thought e5 could be played right away but assumed Danya must have some complex reason for why it doesn't work yet. It's nice to be right once in a while!
I do not have a good way to count desperado trades. When you were evaluating the pin line where black goes bg4 to threaten whites queen on f3. The proper move is take knight, they take queen, you take queen. Is there a technique to make keeping track of those desperado trades?
4:22 wasn't e5 stronger since dxe5, fxe5, Rxe5, Bh7+ and you take his queen after that? I can only see black losing knight due to the pin. Maybe I'm missing something lmk!
You knows what’s nuts about GM’s that fact that you noticed that D6 is an inaccurate move and then proceeded to create an attack which directly exploits that weakness. It’s mind boggling and massively impressive.
Personally, I really like the 10 minute games, less waiting around for the opponent. Also I love watching danya when he gets into bullet mode at the end of the game haha
I would now love to play some games with this opening, to try and 'master' the opening (at my level). Any way to do that? (Besides just playing random games and hoping the opponent follows the script the first 3-4 moves.)
Damn, I had a similar position today where Bxg7 was winning after I recapture the same coloured bishop that was hanging, guess I should’ve watched this video before I played 😂
I'm paused at 4:30 and I can not understand how the e5 is protected twice. If he takes with the rook Danya wins a queen with bishop h7 check. Hope it's explained later, but I just needed to ask.
Was there a brilliant checkmate in this video? Feel like that part of the title was just pulled out of thin air, lol. Still a good video, helped me refine a bit of my 4 knights scotch theory.
These games against players up to 2000+ suggest that it's only when players get to 2200 that they actually think about their moves, rather than play largely on instinct. Here we have a 2050 player makes a couple of serious mistakes and has a completely lost position after 13 moves, having used on 40s on their clock. It's the same in almost all these games, with Danya's opponents bashing out the moves quickly, with only superficial analysis, and only starting to think once they are lost. Maybe it's just blitz chess, but it's difficult to believe that so many strong players blunder into a lost position using very little time on their clock.
I am writing this during the game on minute 4:27 and wondering why he didnt pick up the free knight. Did he actually miss the Tactical Idea of Rook Takes e5 bishop h7+ picking up the undefended Queen? Okay fair enough. After 1.e5 dxe5 2.fxe5 Qd4 he pressures the Bishop and at least doesent lose the full Knight but then just Bxf6 gxf6 and fxf6 and the game is totally over. Black is a Pawn up and not only that but the Kingside is also totally shattered and the extra Pawn of White controls g7. The game seems completely over at that point. So what didnt he like about the Move? I think he actually missed that Bh2 winning the Queen tactically defends e5 another time.
“D6 is an inaccuracy” - calmly proceeds to checkmate in 10.
