These games against 2000-2100 players are perfect. They know theory, they make strong moves and the mistakes they commit are small, so it's super instructive to see how to punish those. Pure gold.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the content that you do; it’s safe to say that you are the best teacher (of any subject) that I’ve ever had. I’ve recently bought the Jobava course, and although only 8 hours in, I am absolutely loving some of the lines, and can’t wait to start using it in my games once I’ve covered a bit more of it. Furthermore, I’ve just started a new job teaching chess over the summer while I’m at home from university, and I attribute getting this job mainly down to your inspiring teaching, and a desire to do what I can to emulate that to my own students (albeit at a far lower level). This is easily my favorite chess channel on RUclips! The logic with which he plays each move is simply astounding! Yes, chess is complicated, but given how *Danya* explains the rationale for each move, the game is also quite enjoyable! (try analyzing out loud with the clock ticking!) Also, he's an amazing chess commentator, my favorite, along with *Tanya* (as well as David Howell and Peter Leko)! All of them give chess a good name!
hey Daniel, I think it would be helpful to have the PGN in the video description so people can work through some of the positions at home easily. Love the vids!
Technically you probably can using opening explorer or "opening tree" and inserting few of the maybe 14 moves.... but i do agree, at that point you might as well save time and write down the PGN yourself.

For those who can afford neither books nor online courses, it is great that there are so many videos available on RUclips that teach chess, and in particular openings. One really feels like a "member of the club" if one knows what is meant by all the variation names.

Danya is a GM chess player, but a Super GM chess explainer/instructor. From this video I learned a zillion things about different facets of chess, including an extremely useful introduction to a dynamic system against the annoying (but ubiquitous) London System.
I have become so much better at chess simply by having similar conversations with myself in my head, where I explain to myself the weakness created after every move my opponent makes. These speedruns have helped me enormously

One of the most instructive chess video's I've seen in a long time! As an avid London player, I've once faced this line as white, I panicked after cxd4 and retreated with my f4 bishop to c1 in order to protect b2. Fortunately my opponent mishandled the position, but knowing Nc3 or Na3 even exist makes me feel like I've immediately gained 50 ELO points. Thanks Daniel!

at 31:30 isn't the general rule for attacking to close the center so that the opponent can't defend with pieces from the other side? generally the defender should try to open the center to create counterplay and bring their other pieces over, right?
Even if the Sensei is uploaoding fewer videos lately, there's much more instructive content in only one of these videos than in 10 videos of any other chess youtuber. Once again: thank you (as a more concrete thank you I have purchased Danya's Master Method and the Jobava London Study and they're both great) 😘
Thank you for posting these. You are the best, never mind that these do not come often. I've studied the jobava london system and against it as black I play d5 and bishop f5. Then close with e6 and a timely c5 would open the queen side. Best regards
Put pieces not pawns on weak squares In closed positions, the value of a tempo diminishes (more time to do quiet moves) Don't be afraid of maneuvering pieces / backward moves When losing, make it tactical, to put opponent in an incomfortable position and increase your chances Chose moves that maintain flexibility Man. Danya droping those concepts for free and with games to back up. I'm loving it! You'd think those concepts should be obvious, but applying them in a game is not. Sometimes you need to listen to someone tell it to you to internalize it better.
Hello Daniel! I'd like to make a suggestion: 1. When you give us a positional idea (such as "making a move that doesn't damage our position") it would be marvelous if you could show what that idea would look like *for the opponent*. Something like "if we apply that same idea for white, the natural positional moves could be 1... 2... 3... etc" Thank you for the amazing video as always :)
Making play tactical when you are positionally losing has a probabilistic interpretation. If the expected value of your distribution is negative, at least, try to increase its variance so that you have a hope to end up in positive territory.
IIRC, Aman also recommends 2. ... c5 for beginner players. His remark about 'if white takes' was along the lines of "a London player isn't going to take".
We can never say enough times how lucky we are to have all this amazing content for free. Being able to see in the mind of a GM is really a privilege. I'm recommending your channel to every chess player I know. Thank you very much for everything you do.
I played in my first OTB event and for round 5 I went up against a 1450 and just prior to the game I quickly looked at a couple of moves of this defense. I ended up taking on B2 and seeing the knight jump to B5. I defended with Na6 and after Rb1 the game got insane. ended up winning in pretty brutal fashion. C5 is going to be my go to from now on when I see the London
I recently started playing c5 aftwr watching these vids. Now I let out a sigh when playing against the london. That is all I could ever ask for thank you.

I analyzed it a bit and it seems like it's black that has to play correctly to hold his position together but then the line only leads to a draw (I had help with the engine) after some correct moves on both sides. Seems like it can be used as a drawing weapon for white, not really cool with that but still okay btw Cool system with 2... c5 tho, loved the video and your insights.
I don’t consider any position boring, everything teaches you something, even if it’s consistency in a match like this, or if it’s an active position that requires more strategy
