    Saabi dee nana! Im laos myself, and I LOVE lao food I just dont get enough of it at home not even at my mom house lol....     This is exactly what vietnamese "quẩy" looks like, we eat it with our traditional soups such as Phở soup, or rice porridge, or even deep it inside sweet & sour fish sauce and eat with salad. The sweet version (milk added) is usually eaten with yogourt. So yummy!

    I lived with Mien people and had a Mien love interest so I always thought It would be a good idea to learn to cook Laap, kapoon, banana egg rolls and Mok Pa «« my favorite hands down! Thanks for the videos u are a blessing luv.

    Just found out your channels. Your receipts are so clear and easy to follow. I will try to make this fried bread stick. I tried out this bread stick other day with other people's receipt and it didn't turn out good. Definitely, I will try yours receipt soon when I have a chance.     When I was stationed at Udon RTAFB in 1972-73, I had this bread and strong sweet coffee so many times for breakfast. Love it!

      She has still been trying to play around with it! Lol. She wants to make a smaller version of it. But is having difficulties getting the inside hallow. Any tips on that? She said maybe it needs to cook longer.

      Try turning the heat up a little bit and also tap gently on the dough a few times to make it go under the oil for a bit.

      You're welcome! Yes, self-rising flour is same as all-purpose flour + baking powder + salt.

    I live close to Chinatown area, one foot long pair of patonko cost only a dollar, taste might not be perfect and crunchy like Nana's, but it saves a lot of time and work .

My patong ko came out hard as well ): I just read some of your comments u said that if the oil is too hot could make the bread too hard..and mine was too hot so i will have to try to make it again until mine came out like yours. My question is can i mix with the mixing machine or i have to only mix it by hands?

    Nana! I love your videos so much and they've inspired me to cook Lao food. Because I'm not living at home, I'm not able to learn from my grandma. I have one question, do you know how to make mieng khao? I'm not really sure if I'm spelling it correctly or even saying it right, but it's the toasted rice smashed up and mixed with other things, then you eat it with lettuce and pepper? thanks for your time Nana!

      Yes, it's from the Chinese fried bread. Patongko is what the Thai call it.
