SHANGHAI IN FOUR DAYS

- Embark on an unforgettable four-day escapade as we explore the vibrant streets of Shanghai! From the moment we stepped aboard airplane in Helsinki, our senses were tantalized by the promise of rich culture, fascinating sights, and heartwarming encounters.
✈️ Our decision to fly all Chinese immersed us in the local vibe. The 9-hour flight became a canvas for unique experiences - from intriguing meals (more on that later!) to the camaraderie shared with fellow travelers, each clutching Lapland souvenir bags. Yes, Finnish Santa’s fame extends even to the skies over Asia! 🎅🌏
🏙️ Day 1: Shanghai’s Skyward Marvels Our first day unfolded against the backdrop of Shanghai’s iconic skyscrapers. The Shanghai Tower, standing as the second tallest building globally, beckoned us. Its 632-meter height defied comprehension until we stood in its shadow. While fog veiled the observation decks, the futuristic cityscape etched itself into our memories.
🍜 Culinary Adventures Dinner introduced us to Shanghai’s local cuisine. As a Halal eater, my options were limited, but the seafood and vegetarian dishes showcased the city’s culinary richness. The mystery meal on the flight - a spicy vegetarian concoction - left us both puzzled and amused. And breakfast? A humble sandwich, but hey, it fueled our excitement!
🏰 Day 2: Ancient Towns and Bargain Hunts Zhujiajiao Water Village, steeped in a 1700-year history, welcomed us. Ancient bridges spanned tranquil canals, and locals burned Joss papers for their departed loved ones. The famous Fake Market tested our bargaining skills - high-quality knock-offs at play! And then, Longhua Temple, Shanghai’s oldest, whispered tales from 242 AD.
🌿 Day 3: Tranquility Amidst Bustle Fog embraced our morning visit to Zhujiajiao Water Village. We reveled in local rituals, glimpsed historic charm, and found solace amidst Yu Gardens’ lush greenery. Birds flitted about, weaving their own stories. And a chance encounter led us to an Uyghur restaurant, where flavors from Central Asia danced on our taste buds.
🌆 Day 4: The Bund and Farewell Our final day unfolded along the Bund - a riverside promenade where history and modernity collide. Fog, like a mysterious veil, lent an air of enchantment. As we bid Shanghai adieu, we carried with us not just memories but a deeper understanding of this dynamic city.

At 14:30 The old man said: He is from Xinjiang. He has retired and his life is good. Welcome you to Xinjiang
Thank you for translating! Yes they were a lovely group of people. I really wanted to talk to them, but yeah unfortunately I did not understand them. But at the Uyghur restaurant we spoke Uzbek and they understood us, so that was interesting.
Thank you! 😊
He was speaking Mandarin with a heavy Xinjiang accent, not Uyghur, so you could't understand what he was saying.@@orangepeak

Hope you had fun in the Shanghai Potemkin Village!
Thank you it was fun 🤗
@@orangepeak I... wow. That was more of a gigachad response than I was expecting. But yeah - just be aware that Shanghai is a huge facade they've put over massive structural decay, pollution, homelessness, joblessness, and a stock market and banking disaster. You may be one of the last people to see anything resembling splendor in China.
@@Iriscalyou are just a troll. Go back in your hole.

Hi, What is the name of the Uyghur restaurant that you went to and where is it located?
Hi 👋 i am sorry unfortunately i do not remember the exact location and name as we kind of just stumbled upon while walking around. But it was somewhere in the area close to Shanghais Old Street. But throughout Shanghai you should be able to find Uyghur places.
Good luck 🍀
Well come to Shanghai , Hope you enjoy in my city
Thank you my friend! Yes we enjoyed it a lot. We will be comoing back again in April :)

If you eat halal food, go to a proper halal restaurant. There should be some halal restaurants around. Or try to find a Xinjiang restaurant.
There are a lot of different food styles among different regions in China. Don't judge Chinese cuisine by just going into one restaurant.
Thanks for expressing your opinion. I did not say that Chinese cuisine is bad or anything in those lines. I just said that it was not mostly for my taste, but regardless I found good options in this cuisine for me. Its okay to have different likes and tastes :)
@@orangepeak I understand that your point is not that Chinese food is bad but rather it doesn't suit your taste. However, I want to point out that there is no unified "Chinese food" style. For example, the culinary styles of Shanghai and Northwest China are quite different (and the dishes you tried were not even authentic Shanghai cuisine). I noticed you had a meal with Xinjiang-style dishes, which might be closer to the taste of Uzbek cuisine. In other parts of China, such as Xi'an, there are many halal options (due to its significant Muslim population) and foods with flavors similar to Xinjiang but with their own unique characteristics. Xi'an is also a famous tourist city for its ancient history, very different from Shanghai. Next time you might try that city.
In summary, China is vast, and there are significant regional differences in food styles (and other things). No single type of food can fully represent Chinese cuisine. Just like Shanghai cannot represent all of China. It would be a pity to give up on trying Chinese food based on one meal that didn't suit your taste.
Welcome to China.
Thank you for taking your time and putting your soul into sharing the insights into Chinese cusine. Next time will definatly give it a second chance :) tnx mate@@ctourmaline
