Big fan of Alexandra. Samuel, you are an excellent interviewer. You ask really great interesting questions! I learned a lot from this give and take between professional guitarists.
Thank you so much! I'm delighted that you enjoyed this interview and the questions I asked. To date I've released three interviews in the Talking Music series so please do check the others out if you enjoyed this one 🙂Very best wishes and have a great day, Samuel
Another superb interview, Samuel, thank you so much. I always feel I'm being let in on a few secrets with your interviews, that seems such a rarity elsewhere. My barres feel better already. I really enjoyed all of it, but Alexandra's approach of asking her students to play a piece straight and then with articulation and describing in detail every expression choice they made, was such a lovely insight, so useful for exploring and developing one's inner music and articulating this on the instrument. I think that's one of the hardest challenges, it is for me at any rate.
Thank you, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it and got a lot out of Alexandra's answers. Thank you also for making the time to leave a comment, it's very much appreciated 👍
What a thoroughly stimulating discussion with so much useful content. Alexandra has a delightful combination of informality of approach and an interesting wish to control her direction of travel regardless of external pressures. She has an obvious love of the guitar and the variety of music it represents. Her playing is exquisite (imagine what I felt when her album was out of stock - I hope there will be more available later). Thank you both for an interesting hour and useful pointers!
