In psychobilly we called quiff hair style
This was cool to see vice doing a piece in psycho but it could have been so much better. Kind of disappointed with what they ended up with. The most brief and rough explanation of psychobilly unfortunately. The motor zombies aren’t exactly a straight psychobilly band. Very poppy, very horror punk, use an E bass in half their songs and don’t have the punk psycho sound or feel that is in psychobilly like the radioactive kids. They have a more neorockabilly sound and just sound too synthetic, too doctored up, but have the punk psycho lyrics and bass slap. Sure the Meantraitors only used an upright until 94 but still carried the psycho sound feel and lyrics even with their covers. I can’t believe they didn’t go over any other of the fantastic bands at the meeting. This had so much potential but... it is what it is. Hopefully vice will make up for it with another psychobilly segment worth watching.
Good call bringing up Horror Punk which in my opinion is inferior to psychobilly. Some bands bring psychobilly elements into tjeir music also... But they arent full blown "psychobilly." That Radioactive Kids album is a good template for what the sound can be when it's done well.
The Cramps don't See themselves as Psychobilly.It all started in the UK with The M3T30RS.
