Reviewing the Eau de Toilette formulation of Dior's Sauvage. www.aaronteren... Instagram - AaronTerenceHughes Music: Sleepdebt - I C U #FragranceReview #Dior #Sauvage
Totally agree. Sauvage EDT is a great fragrance in my opinion. The Bergamot in it is stunning and the scent is so well blended. It smells classy and really well finished. Some people might hate on Sauvage saying it's such a common scent, but I rarely smell guys wearing fragrances when I'm out. Performance on it is really impressive too
@@NotstarvinMarvin same thing will happen with the elixir. Once enough people buy it and with its enormous strength, people will start getting annoyed by it.
I think Sauvage has also done a great job of turning people on to the fragrance world. We need fragrance like Sauvage to draw new people in and keep the fragrance world alive, thriving and well. Obviously the overwhelming majority of fragrance lovers started with designer fragrances before moving into niche. There for I think Sauvage and the likes help the niche industry as well.
The way you describe scents, good or bad, is so unique that I feel like I’m right there smelling it…I find myself scrunching my nose when you describe scents you’re not a fan of and closing my eyes enjoying the scents you like and I’m not even there hahaha love these reviews !
I really enjoyed the EDT and though I had a feeling I'd like the EDP better so when the EDT ran out I bought the big refill bottle of the EDP. Turns out I love em both equally. EDT more for spring and summer and EDP for fall winter. Can't forget Elixir for winter too but that's a totally different beast. I absolutely love the refillable bottles too as it helps bring the price per ml down a bit more and it's a slick little system.
Is the Performance for 300ml refil , when u refil the bottle still good ? Still the same ? Im thinking to buy 300ml refil for my edp but Im afraid about the quality of a 300ml bottle
I get migraine headaches from many fragrances that don't smell harmonious. This one is exceptionally harmonious and beautifully put together. Robust wall of scent and strong projection without being a single bit annoying. Even if I didn't know that it was popular, I would be amazed by how balanced and expertly crafted it is! You can tell someone very talented spent a lot of time working on it. One of the most "finished" fragrances I've ever smelled.
Trend or not (I haven't noticed it) I personally think it smells way too juvenile for me. It smells okay, but not at all natural smelling which is a huge turn off to a lot of people.
The Sauvage DNA is genuinely good, but the EDT is rather light. The use of vanilla in the EDP enhances the sweet of the ambroxan very much. That being said, Sauvage as my first fragrance holds a special place in my heart
@@Yourcheerz edt definitely ain’t light lol , I’m pretty positive I got one of newer batches and I think it’s strong already so I can only imagine a older batch
Thank you, Aaron, for your honesty, expertise, and multi-faceted presentations. This fragrance takes a lot of no so friendly fire, but I agree that all things considered it's a 10/10 I believe that at least some of the negative opinions come from "over application" of this fragrance when just a few sprays is plenty. Other citrus type EDTs for example yes 5-6 sprays, but personally it's too much for this one...just a guess IMHO.
EDT’s from the 90’s and 80’s last an eternity….today, not so much. Sauvage EDT is an exception. This is a summer dumb-reach for me. Citrus fragrances don’t last long on my skin and clothes but this one does. Great review as always!!!
At first I was thrown for a loop. Aaron likes Sauvage? I guess I’m so used to reviewers crapping on Sauvage but I should have know a real perfumer would dissect and look at this fragrance for what it was and is, a beautifully constructed fragrance meant to smell pleasant and appealing to the wearer and those around them. I think that’s what most reviewers hate about it, that it’s not exclusively their signature scent. As always, another great review.
I love the way you take reviews to another level! I have a company that makes and sells the best clones but I’m now stoping and progressing into decanting original designer and neiche fragrances to make the more available and affordable to everyone and I’ve just purchased your raw cherry and will purchase more soon!!! Thankyou
This explains so much in such a great sort of a Feng Shui sort of way , very in touch with with every aspect such a professional! Best review of this fragrance I've ever seen !
Great tutorial Aaron very informative. I went out and purchased a bottle of Sauvage edt to see what all the hype was about . I do Salsa & as you know it is a close up dance , I have had compliments before on my cologne ie channel platinum egostie, but when I wore the sauvage the women said how great I smelt , I am a young 73 & can definitely recommend Sauvage edt. Thank you for your recommendation 👍🏻
I'll have to check it out again. I don't care how popular it is, but my first impression of it wasn't positive. Thank you for the brilliant review, Aaron.
Always love watching your videos; they're relaxing and educational. I don't know if you've ever gotten your nose on Parfums De Marly Kalan, but I think that would be a great one to see you do a video on since it's such a divisive fragrance.
I always loved the edt version, especially if you have a bottle from launch. Unfortunately it’s now a completely different fragrance it’s like they tried to do away with the spiciness, and make it soapy
Absolutely love your videos Aaron. The methyl pamplemousse made me think of a product my company produces sustainably through fermentation for Givaudan, nootkatone. Have you ever encountered it as a raw material? In formulation, it is a very interesting mixture of herbaceous, cannabis notes with a strong grapefruit smell. It is one of the compounds in the grapefruit peel hypothesized to be a protectant against insects. It's also used as a flavoring for citrus sodas because its very safe and non toxic. Hope you find this interesting. Cheers!
I’ve said it since Day 1, for what it is Sauvage is a masterpiece. Just like BR540 is a masterpiece. Both were a huge pivot in perfume making after IFRA regulations.
Sauvage was one of the first designer frags I bought and one I still use frequently. I also agree with Aaron on every point made, however, I would add that it's a compliment beast. I have other frags that get lots of compliments, but it's the way people compliment Sauvage that stands out. Tbh, its a huge turn-on.
Another great insight and review, Aaron. Everybody and their mom are wearing Sauvage so because of that I'm turned off by it, but surely a good frag. Cheers
Loving the fact that so many people came here to hear Aaron dump on Sauvage, only to get disappointed, because ATH is how own man and knows the technical side of the industry better than anyone, therefore he correctly judged Dior's Sauvage as a beautiful and affordable fragrance!
Could you please review Guerlain L'homme ideal Extreme? Thanks for all the reviews Aaron! Been watching every single one of your videos - so interesting.
After owning all of the variations, I always come back to EDT. It’s so aromatic compared to the others & inoffensive. You could wear it literally anywhere.
Honestly I never wear my Sauvage outside of the house bc of all the hate it gets from other fragrance reviewers. It’s so good though, it’s felt like a guilty pleasure - after seeing this though I’m going to start wearing it outside the house lol.
Well the newer batches suck big time, i had a 2021, after half an hour you can't smell it, forget about projection zero nothing nada 🤣. I was lucky to find a 2019 batch, man what a huge difference.

I remember when this one first came out and I got my bottle from Macy's. It blew my mind at the time and my bottle from 2015 still smells so amazing. Dont' wear it much anymore because my taste in fragrances have changed and that scent profile reminds me of college. Dior went over the top with Elixir which I think is the best in the Sauvage in the line. When I'm not wearing niche and it's super cold in the midwest, I often grab elixir to cut through the cold and smell amazing.
Aaron, it would be a JOY to have you review Xerjoff’s Golden Moka. I find it to be so unique, low silage but long lasting. Very beautiful, you may enjoy
Aaron, I'm a big fan! I like how you spray it and just get into it! Except this one you left the spray part out I quite like that part don't remove it. Love the way you tell it, cheers brother!

Sauvage EDP is my fav out of the line, excluding elixir! I had my og batch of Sauvage edt and quickly went through it fast back in 2015/2016 days, the EDP is just divine and even though I have niche scents and a huge variety of scents in my collection I’ll always keep a bottle of Sauvage for nostalgic purposes way back when.! I know it’s everywhere nowadays and everyone uses this but it sure is legendary
Love watching your reviews Aaron. I'm new to the whole fragrance journey, but really enjoying it. I love your opinion on Robert Piguet Atomica ? I love it but I think it's a very individual scent. Love your work 👌
Love Dior Sauvage EDT, EDP and Elixir. Somehow it's a bit of a miss on the Parfum, IMO. Doesn't really project, and the scent is just off. Not that it's bad, but the others are FANTASTIC!
I definitely then am nose blind to Sauvage and YSL fragrances. I honestly don't get it. They smell like deodorant to me. I hate that I don't enjoy them, cause I'm probably missing out on something rather charming. I have Bleu de Channel Perfum, which I absolutely adore.
Wonderful videos! Soo interesting and helpful 😊 but please go back to your black background… it gave you that mystical and deep vibe, while the white just looks generic…
I once followed a trail of scent in a grocery store to find the man wearing it and found it was this scent. He was suitably impressed and thought the game was just beginning, but alas, I am Gemini and once I found the prey, the game was over. Adore this scent though. 🖤
I'd be curious to hear what you think about the parfum version of dior sauvage Aaron after smelling this edt, I expected the parfum to be equally as strong but on me it's like a savauge light, still smells good but nowhere near as powerful performance and a little bit darker than the edt i think
Aaron great video like always, i enjoy them very much, i have one question do you know by chance if the dior sauvage edt 2019 batch has been reformulated? Thank you in advance.
Aaron - can you please compare the construction of Sauvage EDT to Layton by PDM? They feel almost reverse where the pepper sits lower on the Layton but overall very similar scents. I would almost wear Sauvage casually or during the day and Layton in the evenings when I wanted a bit more refinement, but very similar to me. Interested to hear your note and construction comparison. Ty!
I'm new to the Fragrance Industry. i got this Bottle 100ML few days ago. its a 10/10! got compliments they all like it. however only last 2 hours for me. even after having 5 sprays. 2021 Version
Reading a lot of the comments it seems like a lot of people assume things like it reminds me of my dad, just ridiculous and why should that be a bad thing anyway, a classy clean, good projection and longevity, fragrance. I dont remember when i was last aware of anyone using cologne when im out and about so to say you smell it all the time makes no sense to me, if im at a pub or club just have no recolection of smelling dior sauvage on multiple occasions, a lot of weird snobbery and BS in these scent strings,
Sauvage in itself aint bad, but so many drown themselves in it when they wear it. 3 older guys at my gym choke everyone out for example. There is an art to wearing a fragrance but the popularity of this one attracts so many hype riders that are loud but know nothing, just because its hot right now.
Awesome review as always, I love how much you can detach from you personal preferences when doing them and appreciate the fragrances for what they are. I wonder if you can also get you hands on Chanel Allure Homme Sport, mind you this a different fragrance from the Eau Extreme which you already reviewed. Different notes, comes in EDT concentration and it's something that others besides my self regard as timeless. Considering how much you love french perfumery, I believe you'll also enjoy making that review.
I don't mind the original Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel EDTs, although the Chanel smells nicer to me. They have a place and are very likeable. It's when they go for parfums or elixirs it all goes wrong for me. Sauvage Elixir smelled to me like a strong deodorant on an unwashed armpit. Like when someone is trying to cover BO with deo instead of going having a shower. Very teenage boys bedroom. And my husband sprayed it on his arm once before work and it hung in the kitchen all day. Suffice to say the sample went in the bin. I don't think we need to have a "stronger" or more "beast" version of classic blue aromatic fragrances, they're meant to be fresh and can turn very unpleasant when they are amped up for so called performance. I don't understand this obsession these days 🤷♀️
I've never smelled the edp or parfum and I own the elixir but I cannot stand the edt. It must be me but the only fragrances I've ever scrubbed off me were Halloween man and Dior Sauvage edt. It has the most linear cheap soap smell from opening to drydown, I get no notes of anything but pink soap dispenser soap. On me.
Finally someone who can fairly judge a creation regardless if its massively hyped or popular. This is why people respect you Aaron!

I try to blend it with another fragrance since it’s so popular
Awesome review as always, I love how much you can detach from you personal preferences when doing them and appreciate the fragrances for what they are.
I wonder if you can also get you hands on Chanel Allure Homme Sport, mind you this a different fragrance from the Eau Extreme which you already reviewed. Different notes, comes in EDT concentration and it's something that others besides my self regard as timeless.
Considering how much you love french perfumery, I believe you'll also enjoy making that review.
Your so dead on here. The quality is so good. Elixir is my favorite "flanker" of sauvage but the price point on all of them is insane!
On me.
I got the most amount of compliments with this fragrance. Almost every girl i ask what is a really good perfume for men, they always say Sauvage
I have complimented guys on this.
i smelt it yesterday its wildly linear and kinda safe.
I bought all 3 versions love them especially the edt
Not elixir.?
