Totally agree. Sauvage EDT is a great fragrance in my opinion. The Bergamot in it is stunning and the scent is so well blended. It smells classy and really well finished. Some people might hate on Sauvage saying it's such a common scent, but I rarely smell guys wearing fragrances when I'm out. Performance on it is really impressive too
@@NotstarvinMarvin same thing will happen with the elixir. Once enough people buy it and with its enormous strength, people will start getting annoyed by it.
I think Sauvage has also done a great job of turning people on to the fragrance world. We need fragrance like Sauvage to draw new people in and keep the fragrance world alive, thriving and well. Obviously the overwhelming majority of fragrance lovers started with designer fragrances before moving into niche. There for I think Sauvage and the likes help the niche industry as well.
The way you describe scents, good or bad, is so unique that I feel like I’m right there smelling it…I find myself scrunching my nose when you describe scents you’re not a fan of and closing my eyes enjoying the scents you like and I’m not even there hahaha love these reviews !
At first i thought i hated it, but after trying it on skin I'm really considering a bottle of this. On paper it smelled harshly synthetic and metallic, and was what drew me away from it at first. Then i was encouraged to try it on my skin and my perspective has totally changed. Bergamot as you said is heavy in the opening, then the ambroxin kicks in. On me it smells intensly fresh and woody, still with that metallic quality thats almost sweet. Now I see why Sauvage is so decisive among fragrance enthusiasts. It was great listening to your professional analysis on what makes Sauvage so appealing!
I stopped testing fragrances on paper. I generally know what fragrances I’m interested in and I just spray them on, they just smell completely different on my skin than on paper. For years I ignored the Sauvage line because I hated how they smelled on strip. Now I own them all and love them. Most of the fragrance community hates them due to popularity but ask any woman and it is their number #1 smell on a man.
@luism8130 yeah a scent will only reveal itself to you on your skin, and I'm glad i didn't let myself stay on the Sauvage hate-train without at least trying it once. I can understand legitimately not liking a scent (i have my dislikes for some community favorites), but hating something just because it's popular is silly.
I really enjoyed the EDT and though I had a feeling I'd like the EDP better so when the EDT ran out I bought the big refill bottle of the EDP. Turns out I love em both equally. EDT more for spring and summer and EDP for fall winter. Can't forget Elixir for winter too but that's a totally different beast. I absolutely love the refillable bottles too as it helps bring the price per ml down a bit more and it's a slick little system.

The Sauvage DNA is genuinely good, but the EDT is rather light. The use of vanilla in the EDP enhances the sweet of the ambroxan very much. That being said, Sauvage as my first fragrance holds a special place in my heart

Thank you, Aaron, for your honesty, expertise, and multi-faceted presentations. This fragrance takes a lot of no so friendly fire, but I agree that all things considered it's a 10/10 I believe that at least some of the negative opinions come from "over application" of this fragrance when just a few sprays is plenty. Other citrus type EDTs for example yes 5-6 sprays, but personally it's too much for this one...just a guess IMHO.
At first I was thrown for a loop. Aaron likes Sauvage? I guess I’m so used to reviewers crapping on Sauvage but I should have know a real perfumer would dissect and look at this fragrance for what it was and is, a beautifully constructed fragrance meant to smell pleasant and appealing to the wearer and those around them. I think that’s what most reviewers hate about it, that it’s not exclusively their signature scent. As always, another great review.
Always love watching your videos; they're relaxing and educational. I don't know if you've ever gotten your nose on Parfums De Marly Kalan, but I think that would be a great one to see you do a video on since it's such a divisive fragrance.
I get migraine headaches from many fragrances that don't smell harmonious. This one is exceptionally harmonious and beautifully put together. Robust wall of scent and strong projection without being a single bit annoying. Even if I didn't know that it was popular, I would be amazed by how balanced and expertly crafted it is! You can tell someone very talented spent a lot of time working on it. One of the most "finished" fragrances I've ever smelled.
EDT’s from the 90’s and 80’s last an eternity….today, not so much. Sauvage EDT is an exception. This is a summer dumb-reach for me. Citrus fragrances don’t last long on my skin and clothes but this one does. Great review as always!!!
Absolutely love your videos Aaron. The methyl pamplemousse made me think of a product my company produces sustainably through fermentation for Givaudan, nootkatone. Have you ever encountered it as a raw material? In formulation, it is a very interesting mixture of herbaceous, cannabis notes with a strong grapefruit smell. It is one of the compounds in the grapefruit peel hypothesized to be a protectant against insects. It's also used as a flavoring for citrus sodas because its very safe and non toxic. Hope you find this interesting. Cheers!

I’ve said it since Day 1, for what it is Sauvage is a masterpiece. Just like BR540 is a masterpiece. Both were a huge pivot in perfume making after IFRA regulations.

Sauvage was one of the first designer frags I bought and one I still use frequently. I also agree with Aaron on every point made, however, I would add that it's a compliment beast. I have other frags that get lots of compliments, but it's the way people compliment Sauvage that stands out. Tbh, its a huge turn-on.
Loving the fact that so many people came here to hear Aaron dump on Sauvage, only to get disappointed, because ATH is how own man and knows the technical side of the industry better than anyone, therefore he correctly judged Dior's Sauvage as a beautiful and affordable fragrance!
After owning all of the variations, I always come back to EDT. It’s so aromatic compared to the others & inoffensive. You could wear it literally anywhere.
I remember when this one first came out and I got my bottle from Macy's. It blew my mind at the time and my bottle from 2015 still smells so amazing. I'd be curious to hear what you think about the parfum version of dior sauvage Aaron after smelling this edt, I expected the parfum to be equally as strong but on me it's like a savauge light, still smells good but nowhere near as powerful performance and a little bit darker than the edt i think
I definitely then am nose blind to Sauvage and YSL fragrances. I honestly don't get it. They smell like deodorant to me. I hate that I don't enjoy them, cause I'm probably missing out on something rather charming. I have Bleu de Channel Perfum, which I absolutely adore.
Well the newer batches suck big time, i had a 2021, after half an hour you can't smell it, forget about projection zero nothing nada 🤣. I was lucky to find a 2019 batch, man what a huge difference.
Love Dior Sauvage EDT, EDP and Elixir. Somehow it's a bit of a miss on the Parfum, IMO. Doesn't really project, and the scent is just off. Not that it's bad, but the others are FANTASTIC!

I must be nose blind to this. I get a tickle in my nose. After that there is a persistent smell of something weedy like Marijuana. The EDP is the same just a stronger weedy smell that lasted longer. The shirt smelt blue on the next day. Am I the only person who can't smell this?

Great review aaron as always, patchouli noir is back on your site, is it your first darker formulation or the most recent?
sauvage is a really good scent i have a 2019 bottle and it lasts all day on my skin i heard they reformulated it but i dont know if it changed the lasting power .
How much does it last in your skin.?
@@ernestorodriguez6392like 8,9 hours depends on the sprays i think if i blast myself with 10 sprays i think it would last all day 😅😅
@@christopheclaus8505 wow 10 spray hahaha a bit to much for me, thanks.
Aaron thank you for your amazing reviews and free fragrance education 🙏. Right now I have come to appreciate fragrances differently thanks to you and I’m saving up money to test you fragrances since I have a feeling I can trust you because of your ethical views on perfumery and your expertise. I have a feeling I will absolutely love your fragrances and am looking forward to it. And I would happily support your passion in that way. Keep up the good work.
Hi Aaron, I like Sauvage EDT, could you review the EDP and compare?
i smelt it yesterday its wildly linear and kinda safe.
Is there any way to get your fragrance in Cambodia.
I have been watching your reviews and looked into your stuff. Your range looks very intriguing but there is no way for me to get them here without double shipping. 😅
I must be nose blind to this. I get a tickle in my nose. After that there is a persistent smell of something weedy like Marijuana. The EDP is the same just a stronger weedy smell that lasted longer. The shirt smelt blue on the next day.
Am I the only person who can't smell this?
I would like to see review of armani code parfum from you
When i smell it first thime, after Dior lunch it on market, i didn't have positive opinion. It is not something inspirational and after three times I try it i detect something stinks. There was one part of parfum vitch is fresh and other one vitch stinks. I think its part of sweet composition
I thought you said it would smell better if it was more daring/ had animatics etc?
