- What’s poppin’ Chucklers! Today on this episode of Chuckle Sandwich we sent our cherub out to find us a series of sports mascots across a multitude of leagues that we will be ranking based purely on their vibes. We don’t really know these mascots. Vibes will determine their ranking and how we feel about how they look. Enjoy!

Not really a mascot but they have designated Pokémon for manhole covers in certain areas. Actually certain towns, cities or prefecturea have designated Pokémon mascots.

So fun fact about the Philly Phanatic, it hasn’t been involved in any scandals to the tune of what Schlatt and Ted thought, but it has been involved in multiple fights. There are two that I can name, one with a player, Lonnie Smith, and another with a manager, Tommy Lasorda. He’s also shot hot dogs at a pig mascot of some kind from a mounted hot dog gun on the back of a truck. Look it up, it’s hilarious. Philly mascots are menaces, shoutout Gritty as well
The Astros mascot got into a dance off with a security guard in 2014 in a Houston vs Detroit game.
Youppi! was also ejected from a game when he was the Montreal Expos' mascot (his original team before they relocated to Washington DC and before he became the Canadiens' mascot) while wearing a full set of pajamas and a nightcap. Tommy Lasorda was responsible for getting him ejected. It's the only time in MLB history that an umpire ejected a mascot from a game

The way Ted described the creation of UC Santa Cruz's Banana Slug mascot is pretty close to what happened. Two dudes in the 70s just came up with it in their dorm rooms for their sports team, silk screened their own uniforms, and then it caught on.
The chancellor, very similar to the mayor who banned dancing in footloose, felt that it was "undignified" and tried to replace it with a sea lion in the 80s, but there was a huge backlash. The students voted overwhelmingly for the slug and he's been the mascot ever since.
It's now a very known and liked mascot in Northern/Central California.

Okay but you guys NEED to know the Youppi lore.
Youppi was originally the mascot of the Montreal Expos. He is the only mascot in MLB history to be ejected from a game. 8/23/1989 He was doing a bit in the 11th inning on top of the Dodgers dugout where he was wearing pajamas and pretending to sleep and Tommy Lasorda became enraged by this. Umpire Bob Davidson wasn't having it either so he ejected him after Lasorda's complaint. The Dodgers went on to win with one solo HR later in the game. 11 innings later. The game lasted 22 innings.
As a Dodgers fan this legend is passed down in Dodger lore too so I was hoping they would touch on that story.
The Canadiens' name has some history attached to it.
When the team began in 1909, french-canadians at the time were often reffered just as canadians("Canadiens" in french),
The team was to be made of mostly french-speakers, so they chose to name the team Les Canadiens de Montréal(The Montréal Canadiens)
Those glasses really pull together Schlatt's 70s dad look.
I actually visited Ted's stream for minecraft! I did a first time chat, a Ted hunted my IP address down, came to my house, and repeated kicked me in the ribs! Great first experience!

Theres 2 kinds of fursuits. One is a fursuit, entirely sfw and child friendly. A mursuit has zips for access .those are not the kind you see outside, ever. They are bedroom only andwashed each time. Anyone wearing a mursuit to a convention is usually kicked out
And both are weird as hell
@@kei.13 why tho? I have 2 'fursuit' heads. One is a dnd cosplay head and the other is a comic character cosplay but its an animal head in the comic. I go round cons, playing dnd as my character and get complements and photos with people and kids all the time. Im also a huge cosplayer to make people happy, i think fursuits are the same honestly

Your reactions to Sammy were hilarious, as a UCSC student 😂 The mascot uniform itself isn’t the best (and the earlier versions are terrifying) but we have a lot of pride here for our unique banana slug mascot. Balthor is a much better name, though

I'm not a furry, but i have a friend who is a furry but doesn't have the costume, although i do know some things about fur suits from the internet and watching videos.
The fursuits that have the openings for sex are called murrsuits, which have the openings in places you would expect. Normally, people who are furries and take part of both sides of it they tend to have two sets and keep them relatively separated, one suit which is the fursuit and the other suit which is murrsuit. Although there is furries that have multiple suits for either one or both purposes.
Also if i remember correctly, most furries are in it because its a hobby plus it helps to break away from reality and de-stress(short definition, layman's terms). Then ofc there is some that are in it because its a fetish. Although there can be ones that are in it for both reasons, it could be both reasons equally or one more then the other.
Disclaimer: im just going off of what ive heard from actually furries in videos I've watched, and what I've read.

I'm sure not all furries are zoophiles but most of them are. You can't even search Vaporeon on google images without some sick furry art fetishizing an animal. They want to fuck animals and it's weird. They should be considered closer to pedos and necros than cosplayers and mascots.

The WORST part about being an NYC sports fan is no mascots (generally). Giants, Knicks, Yankees, etc think they're too good for a mascot and it makes me sad. Makes things way more lifeless too.

When I saw Youppi I began to scream in agony. As a Canadian I was not expecting to be in this list and also I am not that much a fan of hockey, I was just preparing myself a sandwich and heard "who's the guy in orange" and I tossed the sandwich in the trash

as a Pittsburgh native i have to say i agree with pretty much everything they said about the Pirate Parrot. However! Although he may be lacking in displays of acrobatics, he does have a giant T-Shirt cannon he uses to blast the crowd with merchandise regularly! Sometimes they put hotdogs in there too.
Also, I think Tucker did us a disservice by not instead choosing the Pierogies. We have a group of pierogi mascots that, at every half time show, do a race around the field. We have Potato Pete, Jalapeño Hannah, Cheese Chester, Sauerkraut Saul, Oliver Onion, Bacon Burt, and Pizza Penny. The Parrot sometimes participates in the race, too. My family used to bet on who would win. Also, according to the Pittsburgh Pirates Pierogi Canon Lore Compendium, Pizza Penny and Potato Pete eloped to Naples in 2021 and haven't been seen since.
Sometimes, to keep the races close during the whole season (they crown a champion pierogi at the end), the entertainment team will hire faster runners to play the pierogies that have had a bad streak! Additionally, there are two other teams that have similar racing mascots: The Milwaukee Brewer's Racing Sausages, and the Washington Nationals' Racing U.S. Presidents. These teams will race each other's mascots depending on who is visiting where, so it's possible to see the pierogies race sausages and U.S. presidents!

As an Australian, Schattly-bear is entirely correct on the 'Jazz bear' arguement. brown koalas dont exist, they can get dirty and the suns reflection makes them look brown. the only comparison to be made with the suit creature, are the ears, which I would chalk up to a terribly made costume.
