Is that your normal drag? Looks light. Thanks for the vid. I would probably go for about a 15 min variable warm up with some bursts at 2k pace/split. Everyone has to find what works for them!

Not my normal drag, I talk about it in the video. I had dropped it lower to make things easier for me to talk while I shot the video. Normally, I would be around 120 or so. Thanks for commenting and for the feedback, I appreciate it.

    Very nice Warm Up Drill!
What is your average drive length on this warm up?
Should your drive length change when you are at race pace or SS pieces?
    Thanks

I typically row about 1.30m on average. I think the dynamics do change but I try to keep the strokes as long at race pace as I do on the SS. Hope this helps.

Dear Neil Bergenroth. Great training videos.
May I ask a question of you. At 1:46 split and 28-30 stroke rate/minute, you are @132 BPM HR !
I am 74 and my RHR is 56 BPM. When rowing 30' piece at 2:20 split , 21 SPM, my HR is 130 (the same as you at 1:46).
Is there something wrong or do I need to get fitter ?

My heart rate in a burst of twenty strokes shouldn’t be compared to a longer effort like a 30 minute piece. With that said, I’ve been blessed that I started rowing at 13, swimming and cross country before that. My resting heart rate is around 40. I’ve spent a lifetime in a sport I love, so my efficiency is very good (three heart surgeries for ablations aside). Thanks for commenting.
