Here are some examples: 1) saved billions of lives with the deaths of just a few when taking a planet by broadcasting the deaths of those Imperium of Man hating peoples, 2) helped Vulcan realize he was a perpetual, 3) saved Lorgar from an insane and murderous corvus corax because brothers care for other brothers, 4) helped his brothers fight off a secretive cult of liars and xeno tech using 1st legion heretics who... oddly, were always absent during the big fights and liberation of Terra, 5) Recyclers who used parts and equipment from those who sought their deaths (talk about green!), 6) exposed the Lion and Guilliman as hypocrites when they used Xeno tech to escape his one man show of force on Ultramar, 7) more upon request.
The big thing that made me like the Night Lords is just that some of them just seem to hate the Emperor and the Imperium on principle rather than "I have sided with the dark powers and we will burn the galaxy in their name" kinds of traitor legions. Is it a messed up principle? Yes. But I'll take that over slobbering lunatics and freaks getting off on their own bones breaking any day.

At least in theory, in practice all Chaos followers are just slaves one way or another. Some of them are just raging lunatics, rest at least seem to have some principles and clarity of purpose.
