  • Tableau is one of the easiest and most flexible programs for visualizing and exploring data. This exploration stage of visualization is essential for finding the patterns in your data that you want to investigate and communicate to your audience. Likert scale survey data, where respondents have given answers on a scale about how much they agree with a statement, or how important something is to them (e.g. strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree, strongly agree) presents a wonderful example for learning intermediate Tableau skills!

Great video, Eric! I'm a long-standing user and also learned on Data Revelations. Your recap was a very helpful refresher, especially the end part on pivoting the text and numeric sheets right in Desktop. That process was quite tricky in Tableau Prep and Alteryx, but much clearer the way you showed. Thank you!

How did you achieve the Table WDC installed on your instance of Qualtrics? Thanks in advance

Wonderful pace and instruction...where is the link to register for Qualtrics?

I access Qualtrics through the university I work for. They have a server set up that employees have free access to. If your organization doesn't support this it does look like Qualitrics has a limited free option (www.qualtrics.com/free-account/), but other survey systems have methods for collecting Likert scale responses - that's just the system that my clients use most often.

How did you get the Questions type dimension, with the Likert scale option?

I registered on Qualtrics and tried to export the tableau link, but the tableau link is not showing on my end, mine stops at user-submitted files

I don't know much about the infrastructure. My understanding is that the Tableau Web Data Connector needs to be installed on your specific instance of Qualtrics. At Duke we have a license for that and it's installed on our system, but I assume it's not installed on every instance of Qualtrics Server. You can still export spreadsheets from Qualtrics and visualize in Tableau - it just won't be that nice live connection.
