It boggles your mind because you are (mistakenly) viewing the SCOTUS as a judicial body. It is not. Trump said it is not, and that's one time he was not lying. It is a political body that does not have a "check" or "balance."

While I agree on principle, unfortunately, impeachment means a crime was committed. A decision we’re not happy with isn’t cause, like it or not.
They aren’t lawmakers. They interpret the law not rewrite it. Such a ruling would be usurpation of power and a massive constitutional crisis. But if they did have the stupidity to do so, if I was current POTUS I would make full use of my new found King like powers until it was hastily reversed.

Spoiler alert: they’ve already made a horrible decision to take this on. Impeach Thomas. Alito, Roberts, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett.
Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett all lied under oath in their confirmation hearings. That is grounds for impeachment.

while that's true, the thing that worries me the most is the very real possibility that the current super-majority conservative SCOTUS might side with Trump. some say that the justices would not possibly risk surrendering their powers to an emboldened Executive, I am not so sure that there aren't enough willing to take that risk in hopes of being made into something like Hitler's Sondergericht, a court unbound by constitutional constraints.

Should the President be allowed to commit any crime, ever? Why would that ever be Ok? The President is tasked with executing and upholding the rule of law. Giving that person the right to defy the law-any law-would be “breaking” the law in its most literal sense.
Just to be clear: if there's a law against something, the President is subject to the law. If Congress feels the need to exempt the President, it can do that explicitly.

Why did the SCOTUS take the case? The appeals court decision is air tight. There’s no grounds for appeal to the SCOTUS.

I have no confidence in SCOTUS. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were to grant him immunity. This entire thing is ridiculous.
They really can’t do that. If they do, then it applies to every president, including Biden. So Biden could have Trump arrested for “crimes” and prevent him from running. We might love that, but it would be just as bad as Trump himself.

Let's take a moment to reflect on the former president's legal strategy. He's not saying he's innocent. He's not saying he didn't break the law. He's saying he can commit any crime he wants to because he has 'presidential immunity'.
If he were immune, it would only be for the official acts of a president. What tRump is being charged with was campaign related. It had nothing to do with official acts.
He’s never said that, it’s immunity for anything that falls under his Presidential duties, or in the outer perimeter, like giving a speech. You’re going to be surprised at how much immunity he will get from the Supreme Court, and for good reason, to protect the Office of the President from political persecution by his enemies, like he is going through right now.

That GA case is fraudulent too, but will never get to trial after Fani is removed by the GA Appellate Court, for her incompetence and corruption.

The incompetency of this supreme court is rendered by their consensus that there was validity in the first place.

Can you imagine the Supreme Court giving the okay for lawlessness? This Democracy could be taking a dark turn.

I see the Supreme Court ruling 8-1 with justice Thomas writing a dissenting opinion, UNLESS the DOJ references to the court Jenny Thomas' text messages to Mark Meadows, Trump's COS! If that happens Thomas cannot possibly be allowed by the other judges to vote on the case!
