- www.insidesimracing.tv presents our full review of the DIY PVC sim racing rig that Shaun and Jessica built.
For this show Shaun purchased $130 worth of materials and is using the same seat we used for the Deathmobile (DIY Wood Rig).
This is part 2 of the DIY rig and in this episode we finish off the rig and then score it against all of the other rigs that we have tested. We go over the pros and the cons of the rig and talk about what it took to make.

Thanks to SIMUL8R for his plans at our forums : goo.gl/MGNSc9 Игры
These two build videos are my favourites so far, natural and fun!
I love Shaun man that laugh is infectious man, even his slight giggle, so when he had a laughing fit I cried too
Seems like a project for me for the future....from 2012 to 2020 and I hope will hold strong until 2050
#Inside Sim Racing If you don't have the miter saw, which was used in the video, and you have to use a hack saw to cut the PVC pipes, when you are at the hardware store buying the materials for this build add two metal band clamps the size that will fit the size of the PVC pipe and a flat head screw driver also (if you don't already have one), put a band clamp on either side of you cut line just a little bit wider than the hack saw blade so that the hack saw won't bind up when sawing and you will get a reasonably straight cut.
Thanks so much guys. I just got a membership and it is one of the best racing games I have ever played
0:01 Every time and for years I'm convinced that this is the best intro on RUclips.
Really can't wait for the next one,was just about to buy the plans. Good work!!!
love the outtakes, as a person who shoots video for a living , some of the best stuff is in the outtakes typically.
Love the out takes Guys It makes it more real.
All that aside well done this was very informative.
Thank you
I built one 2 years ago out of 1.5" and its freaking awesome and still going strong. A few joints have worked loose a bit here and there but nothing a little more pvc glue cant fix! I have about $100 in materials, $388 for the logitech G29 wheel, pedals and shifter and another $100 for a cheap DNA Recaro knockoff from ebay. I even added a 4 point harness for the feel! So much fun!!
Have you still got it??
@@5punkybob nahhh it already broken i think
Great build guys. The bloopers were great.
great videos and you guys have way to much fun doing these videos. keep em coming.
Interesting idea using the piping.
The bloopers at the end was funny too!
GREAT video..
LOVED the out-takes...
HILARIOUS!
Shaun losing it in the outtakes just cracks me up. Infectious laugh for sure..:) Love it..
great vid, bloopers look like a lot of fun
Big tip for those trying this, that type of gluing is required for a water seal as it was designed. To glue a "rig' a very small amount is more than enough to hold together, after test fitting, just pull apart a small way then dab a little primer and glue. it's not necessary to glue the whole pipe.
Gotta love the outtakes !
Such dorks! I will build one and post my video of it, I love SIM racing! I love Racing even more!
The problem you had with the PVC glue is you didn't use enough. Coat the inside of the fitting and the outside of the pipe with a heavy coat. That gives you working time and "lubricates" the pieces so they slide together. Too little glue and the solvent gets sucked into the PVC and dries before you can slide the pieces together. With a heavy coat you should have a good 5 seconds before it starts to bond.
Great DIY Rig. Awesome outtakes lol so funny xD
love the out takes! :)
YES the out takes are great use them more thanks
Awesome looks great!
It looks better then some of the already made rigs you buy in shops.
Great stuff well done
Last mins are awesome :)
Meata-vita-vegamin FTW! :) Awesome build. I may try this one myself. It's a toss up between this and the Ricmotech RS-1 plans atm.
damn can t wait for the next rig that looks like a real arcade cabinett :D
Great show and loved the bloopers - LMAO!
I like the look of the next rig too, looks like an arcade machine
To address the width comment, you could narrow the whole thing by making the horizontal bars 10cm less. Its a great simple project, maybe after making a couple the VIII or V4 might be awesome.
LOL! Funny show!
Seriously this rig was easier to build than you both made it seem to be. WAY EASIER!
We did 2 of these from SIMUL8TR with the TV stands in 2 hours.
i really like this one i think i would be more lost then you guys got but i might have to try that one better then the wood one keep building more
I love the look of this rig, what do you think if I used 1 1/2" PVC. Would it be solid or no? That's closer to the size of role cage tubing, make it lighter as well!
00:45 I thought because how massive is the rig that inside was a little child, then I realized that was Shaun :)
I made one of these with a hacksaw and actually found it very easy.
It is nice for putting the cables thru the pipes
just wondering if filling the tubing with spray foam would make it more rigid without adding much weight, maybe just in the wheel deck support area..
i'm talking about the foam you would use for insulating around window frames......
also you mentioned the side arm sticking out to one side making the rig wider, that would be eliminated also with a couple more couplers.
i understand you wanted to follow that plans on your board, just throwing some ideas out there
the joy of videotaping things...
i agree with the score of 9/10 det cons can be fixed if aford or whant & its always alott more prowder to make won rigg/ alott easyer to re fix or add aditional things instead of trying on an expensive bught one :D
I used the tiniest bit plumbers glue & a heat gun to soften up the glue so I could have a little play before I reset it again
This could explain the giggling in the outtakes
next time place a mark on the pvc so when you joinit together they are at the same point other wise thin it looks great
You guys should do what i did with mine, I filled it with Concrete lol no wobble at all!!!!!
just an fyi, you can get quite a lot of different angle bends so if the foot pedal angle is annoying you can use 15 degree bends to adjust it.
Love the part at 18:22 :D
Instead of sandpaper for prepping, you could have used a red scotch pad and some sanding paste So much easier and more effective.
That blank area for addons... CUP HOLDER =-D
+Steve Rand Everyone knows that you must have a cupholder in a race car. Gotta have that mocha latte pumpkin spice doodaddy coffee going at 200mph lol!
+Brian Tolliver (HiCapMag) Or even just the drink simulator... an iPhone with the coffee drinking app. ;o)

Having troubles finding a working link to the plans and parts list. Also is there a similar setup for 3 monitors?
Not convinced with that pipe that the steering wheel is mounted on - I think that'll break before very long. Would be better with a more stable mount for the wheel - but I guess PVC pipe is always gonna flex a little. I'd probably opt for a wood rig myself.
I've made 2 mini rigs - first one was just an A frame with wheel and pedals, no seat - you just sit it in front of a sofa :D - my second rig is basically a cupboard converted to a driving rig, with a loud gaming seat and big screen.
This rig is much nicer than the death mobile
how did you hold the steering wheel to the platform without it sliding?
will the blue print for next rig be out for free or how mutch for deasent image for users to print out and make own? :D Greate show cant wait for next rigg
ROFL @ the outtakes!
16:00 Try not to laugh! 🤣😂😂
That moment when a blast from the past shows up in the side-bar!!
My first rig 1 year ago . And I build tomorrow new rig ( wood)
When using those glues you're supposed to be in a well-ventilated area ;) Otherwise great vids, it's cool to see some budget DIY rigs that aren't for the best part a chest of drawers and a chair stolen from the dining room!
yes. i know the foam you mean. that probly helps to get it more riggid&stiffer :D
18:23 hahahaha! Where is Jessica in the latest videos? Where is she?
I think I found my DIY Rig.
:D
you should have bought the purple cleaner then the clear glue it does not try faster but the purple cleaner will make it stronger when it does dry
10/10
did you guys hard mount the wheel or clamp it to the wood
wish i could find some plans for a PVC rollcage for my rig.
where can I get the plans for this?
I wonder what adjustments I would need to make for being over 6ft.
why are the build plans are removed from the website?
thanks
carbon fiber double helix wrap around smaller pipe sanded smooth with belt sander, double tube mount for steering wheel
( a double helix with counter spinning spirals)
this is just the ....instant glue... rocket lol you CANT stop the glue! soooo FUNNY ;DDDDD
so how long did it really take to build that rig with all the filming
you could like a roll cage or frame
I snorted too by seeing the out takes lol
it looks very cool indeed, but I am not confident with the longevity of the rig, considering especially the seat placing/position. plastic tends to worn up and crack pretty easily and the fact that you are constantly sitting there... 50 kilos or more is a tough challenge for pvc in my opinion...
Her English is just phenomenal
M.E.K. (methel ethel ketone) would be heaps easier and better to prep the pipe before painting. Also using a paint for plastics as well.
Good job though for people that dont work with this material every day.
where did you guys get that seat at?
Both of the things he talks about in the cons actually are not true. The height could be adjusted on the steering wheel by adding spacers between the mdf and the tube and using U bolts. Rake is also easily adjusted adding a spacer at the bottom tube.
what is the white rig in the intro at 0:23?
Thx for replying, that's good for her but sad for us :)
Omg Jessica is gorgeous!!!
What would you do to add HOTAS (joystick and throttle) support ?
build it slightly differently
This is so funny, laughing my ass off.. :D
Oh ok I haven't see that part
I'll stick with my original plan for building the ricmotech lol
He needed her Help, thats why she is there.
terry was stoned lol good last 2 shows
I love her . he's a fucking geek
then we all find out hes tapping that. id eat my fucking shoe.
The "geek" that's building DIY projects using mens tools, co-hosting a channel with a hot chick aka the girl that you love, earning hundreds of thousands of views and having fun. Then we have you... who the fuck are you haha?!
ölçüleri verirmisiniz give me the measurements
is pvc sturdy enough for a medium powered
direct wheel? ( 9NM )
Here I am expecting an answer from an 11 year old video 😅
What size Is the pvc
She had left about one month ago... She started her own website.
what's the diameter of the pipe in millimeter?
I think ima do this soon as i get the money. Since i cannot afford a real one.
nice title
Cup holder is missing.
Why all good simulators are expensive in Poland?
is she saying mound instead of mount?
He built this in 4 hours...... "INCONCEIVABLE!"
