lol I think the people like "they didn't need to show that" "I didn't want to see that" with the kid dying might be missing the point of that scene lol, it's all fun and games until you see the reality of what war really is
Yeah actually I didn't really liked that fight scene when it unfolded, i found the music too happy, energetic, kinda forced. Up until that point fights have had more gravitas to them.
When the kid is hit and the music stopped i thought "oh thats why".
It's all fun and adrenaline until you realize that violence has bloody consequences.
It was necessary to show it and very well done.
And that is one of my biggest reasons why I love Arcane. There is happiness, fun and stuff. But they are not afraid to show you the darkness. To show you what you dont want to see. And that is memorable.
I get what you're saying but that's usually how you react to a shock scene. That is a normal initial shock value response. You wouldn't go "Oh I'm so glad they showed that kid getting splatted." Sounds awful no?

@@shuaguin5446 feel like you misinterpreted that song--it's not fun, it's angry. Maybe bc of the hype energy you mistakened it?? But the lyrics are a clear indication. This scene was a culmination of Vi and Jayce angry at their inability to actually do anything useful which is why the scene is so loud, angry, and so energetic. The kid Jayce accidentally killed was a slap to the face to wake up. War isn't a clean goal. You better be willing to get blood on your hands and lose some.

When you realise as a kid Victor couldnt catch his toy boat, but now he runs faster than the one behind him in the running scene
I love how they didn't hold back at the end of the Jayce and Vi fight scene with the kid dying, where understandably most people are like 'hell yeah these two are badasses they're fighting and kicking ass and looking all cool and shit' they follow it up with the sobering chaser of 'hey, yeah, war is still fucking horrible and even in something small like this alot of people who are just trying to get by are gonna get hurt and die'
The show is so well written that it can absolutely have it's cake and eat it too, amazing action that still always holds a consequence and a message behind it

18:12 It's so sad that Vi's own image of Silco as an evil monster might have been the thing that hindered the negotiations. After all, we know that Silco was very much willing to negotiate.
vi also gave away her sisters name to jayce for him to use it as leverage against silco. which lead to the final part of her sister slipping away forever, the attack on the council, and most likely total war. vi is actually pretty flawed her actions keep reverberating into tragedy and destruction of peoples lives all around her.
@@nepntzerZer Everybody is flawed, they are just humans making decisions to best they can. Vi didn't make Jinx use the mega RPG, neither did VI force Jayce to invent the hextech ball. Not everything is VI's fault.
it baffles me that anyone thinks Silco in power, through negotiations or not, could be a good thing for the people... Lets play it out, Silco negotiates. Then what? you think he stops producing shimmer? you think he stops controlling and manipulating?
@@espygaming5101 The only reason he is producing shimmer is to gain independence for the undercity. Besides none of the moves he makes indicates that he intends to rule over Zaun. He is even offering up himself during the negotiation with Jayce.

I never noticed, in the flashback scene with Mel and Ambessa, you can quite literally see the exact moment the life leaves the Targonian princess's eyes.

I find it funny how most reactors side with Mel about war being a last resort, then immediately side with Vi calling for war against Silco. People are used to siding with protagonists, so they usually don't stop to consider that Vi might actually be in the wrong.

Which she was, because Silco was 100% down to negotiate. Hell, he was from the very beginning. He never wanted to beat topside, just to scare them enough to give himself bargaining power to achieve independence. Obviously he didn't scare them as much as he thought he did, but the outcome was the same: bargaining power. Too bad the price was too high for him :-/

What i love about this part is how Vi the main protagonist is wrong on many level. To Jinx she is the monster (as shown in Jinx nightmares) and Silco is open to negociations.
By this point she is way over her head and she kinda realize it because in the next episode she will actually stick to what she knows : bar fight.
Vi speaks very much about how young boys/men from rougher lives feel trying to get through life. A simplified black and white view of the world, as well as an inability to resolve problems with anything besides violence. All of Vi's problems need to be solved with thinking and speaking. But she's incapable of doing it, because all she knows is how to fight.
I really like Vi for that. She's wrong and it's tragic, but seeing her struggle to combat her problems with the wrong methods and realizing her own failure, but having no option besides pushing forward regardless, it's riveting.
@@cokecan6169 It´s just sad that the one thing Vander wanted her to internalize was NOT the fighting but to make peace. He literally told her "this (violence) is not the way" and "what/who are you willing to loose?"
@@sunflowerice also his effort to instill action have consequences "whatever they do it's on you" make her put everything thay happened as her responsibility to fix even tho some like how she was arrested by marcus is not her fault, she never left powder but she blamed everything on her and insisted on fixing it by her sole self
This episode made me realize that I, a 43 year old straight male, cared more for an animated lesbian relationship than any relationship I had ever seen or been in. (which I admit is pretty fucked up)
Arcane made me understand what 14 year old fangirls feel. This show is so far beyond amazing and still is massively under viewed. It is the greatest show I have ever seen in my fucking life. I don't know how many times I've watched it........but it's absurd. I understand obsession now. Thus why I am commenting on this video. I watched Arcane three times each time they were released. The only reason I got a netflix account was due to knowing what LoL can do with their cinematics..........I had high hopes.............they totally destroyed any high hopes I might have had. They surpassed them in ways I never could have dreamed. Which is fucking mind boggling.

But on the bridge, he didn't care one iota for the crystal, only jinx
I think even Silco underestimated how much he cared for jinx

Now betrayal is absolutely the worst sin there is but...it saddens me to see the utter lack of empathy for Marcus.
I totally get it...he was a weak man who paid for his sins tenfold, but was doing his best to - in his mind - follow in Grayson's footsteps. But he didn't have Vander - he had Silco. And that was, of course a mistake. But he had already made his deal with the devil. The best thing to do would've been to either fess up - or try and work it from the inside. He clearly doesn't enjoy being under Silco's heel. He shows deep remorse every step of the way, but feels like his hands are tied.
This guy also seems to have raised his daughter alone, and clearly cares deeply for her.
I think he deserves a little more respect, even if he also deserves what happened to him.
I've thought about that for the most aptt but I really forgot to have empathy for him for what he did to Ekko that time. But yeah again, Arcane is a world where everyone is at least an unfortunate victim of their circumstances and choices from Jinx to Silco.
During the whole victor scene in episode 7 victor had a small amount of shimmer and that what was given in exchange for his new leg. As he didn't have that for this episode it wasn't going to work until Skye entered the fold and the Hexcoretook her in exchange for Viktors hand.
Just shows how powerful shimmer is and how blood thirsty the Hexcore is!! which scares me for season 2
Watching how differently Jayce and Vi fights is so cool. I don't know if it's referencing the game, but just watching it from a purely story-of-Arcane-standpoint it fits them so well.
Vi grew up fighting. She knows her punches, kicks, guards, she knows how to throw down with her bare hands.
Meanwhile, Jayce has very limited experience fighting - I would assume. He doesn't do a bunch of punches or kicks because he doesn't really know how. However, he knows his weapons. He grew up working and using hammers and he built this weapon himself. He knows exactly how to use it and swing it. He might not be an experience fighter, but he knows how to make up for it.
Also, it always kinda annoys me seeing reactors in episode 9 be like 'Yeah, Jacye, you better back down from fighting Vi! You better be scared!'. Even if Jayce lacks the experience against Vi he never came off as 'scared' in his confrontation with her. He didn't back down until she said 'Then I guess you gotta kill another Trencher'. It seemed more like he took those words in and realized he wasn't willing to kill more people just to get the gauntlets back. Basically, I just always got more of a "This isn't worth it"-vibe from him backing down from the fight. He seemed more exhausted or upset than scared.

It mostly translates to the way Jayce plays in game too- there's only so much you can do with the animations of a limited type of game like League (especially for a champ like Jayce who came out like, 10 years ago) but his 'gimmick' is he has a ton of abilities, more than most champs get. They're all basically just different functions his Hammer/Cannon can perform. I think the show did a great job of showing that, he's basically planned and built in a bunch of different contingencies into it like "Oh, I'll probably want a shield emitter. And a Cannon mode for ranged engagements, oh I should extend the back haft so I can use it as a polearm to defend myself". Theres only one ability, albeit a very key one, they didn't really show from his kit, and I'm curious if they'll put it in play for season 2.
Jayce was right, Vi was just being a insensible socio. ./path to other peoples lives
You have to use a bit more of Elijah - her reaction to the pair being discovered by the mother was fantastic and she commented on how the mother urged that Cailyn go after Vi from the Council chamber, which is a really nice small detail she picked up on. :)

I think she is talking about herself when she slapped Powder and then ran away when she realized what she did instead of comforting Powder and facing what she did head on right there.

absolute FIRE video as always. I will never get tired of how amazing the scene is going from the incredible fight to the realization of what war is. Seeing everyone hyped and that hype not just settling, but being switched off in one instance when the kid is hit. Super sad, but incredibly powerful in what it portrays.
Funny how just about everyone is like "Pretty boy Jayce, get the hell outta there, you can't take on that shit!"
I'm sorry, did y'all miss the part where Jayce has been making AND swinging hammers his entire life? How 'bout the fact that he's a ripped-as-all-hell genius? For real, the only thing that doesn't work out very well for him in this scene is when he uses the cannon, which, funnily enough, is the one thing that isn't his forte.

I love how all the reactors are questioning how the kid was still alive for a short time... and I even questioned it myself. The only theory I could come up with was the fact the kid was working in the shimmer factory... and even with a mask I would imagine he inhaled fumes from that shit and caused him to stay alive for a bit longer?? Much like Vander when he took a shot of it before leaping out of the building.
Good theory.
But for me, it may just be a writer's way of making things more disturbing. Remember, this is also the series where two youngsters were impaled, shot point blank by debris, and crushed under rubble. All in the same sequence.

Has anyone noticed that when Jace put the Gauntlet on to demonstrate it to Hymerdinger he struggled to lift it, but Vi is full on boxing with both on and has hardly lost any speed.
