Great and informative video. I have a 1992 Century V8. I just imported it and vlogged on finally receiving it. It is sleek just as you mentioned. Prestigious look indeed.
Fender mounted mirrors, curtains, lace and wool are sooo Japanese. They each are points of difference which is after all the point of buying a Century in the first place. Same goes for exterior colour. There’s colours and then there’s black. Black when polished, far more than other shades, best shows the talent of the Toyota craftsmen.
For me, my ideal century will be Column shift, Wool interior with front quarter mounted mirrors (Japanese spec mirrors rock and just add to the aesthetic of V.I.P.) but that is me and that is why I love living in this world because everyone has different tastes and keeps it interesting. Cheers from an Aussie truck driver.
Very comprehensive video on this rare and astonishing car. Not fancy or powered as RR, Maybach or even Aurus, just the best car of it’s time. Congratulations for have it with the steering column mounted shifter, it’s even rarer and it’s a must! Thanks for the video. Greetings from Brazil.
UK owner here, found this video a few months before purchase. Always wanted a century - this is a great video. You forget how old the car is when you're in it! Had an LS400 97 before but the Century is the one for me. I have a base model without multiscreen but I do have the cloth interior. Only thing that makes this car less fast and less economical than a modern car is the gearbox.
Hi there, great Information Video!!! Can you tell me, if in the V12 is a "microprocessed automatic aircondition" with the function of oscillating (automatic swing, from side to side)??!! the 90´s V8 version had that...
@@chinpokomotorsporteng3397 thanks for the response, another question I know around 2005 they switched from a 4 speed transmission to a 6 speed transmission...in ur experience is there a difference between the two transmissions any information would be helpful thanks love the content by way fingers crossed I land a century
“A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox's mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them. The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain. Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust. "What a fool I am," he said. "Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for." And off he walked very, very scornfully.” Aesop's Fable Moral: There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach. By the way, it’s “hearse”, not hurse.
The people in this video are so illogical. $20 000 is a huge sum for a Toyota for several reasons : 1. in 1974 an average Toyota brand new was $3000. So in other words, with $20000 you could buy around 7 Toyota cars in 1974, whereas here they only got 1. 2. The 1970s were a better decade because people were more relaxed than today, so it is better to judge prices in respect to that period. 3. People will think you're less cool if you're rich cause heroes in 1970s TV shows drove cheap cars. Anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot and lacks logical thinking.

The windows dont automatically go up, so you dont get your head or arm stuck, if you accidentally hit the button.
Been eyeing one of these for a while... once I can bring myself to part with one of my jzs147's definately Century bound! Great vid!!!
LOVE this review my friend! :-)
I liked so much this car!!
Woo a century taxi, despite the ridiculously high price of taking a taxi here in Japan, I would certainly go for a ride in one of that!

Look old, lack styling.Tayota are lazy to design their cars.
In case if you didn't know, this is an Old Old car. And for its time , this design was special. In today's standards - this seems "old"

This car looks and sounds like shit.
Gotta love people who don't understand it.
