- Welcome! Today we're diving into one of Japan's greatest luxury sedans to come out of the "Golden Era." Powered by the only V12 mass-produced in Japan, The 1997 Toyota Century V12. It's one of those vehicles that's you really need to see in order to believe what was built here. It would appear from the outside just a normal luxury sedan available to just any consumer who had the means to purchase it, but instead was designed and intended solely for Japanese diplomats and business executives. Inside you'll find a showcase of boss-like features that you'd expect from Rolls Royce, but in a package far more exclusive. Enjoy!

I daily my 2005 that looks just like this one. It's just the most peaceful drive. I actually enjoy rolling up the windows and turning off the radio in pure silence. The suspension is bliss.
How is the seat comfort compared to a modern car? Really surprised to see Doug demuro say a modern Lexus LS is more comfortable
@@CameronsCars more comfortable then anything I've been in. Kinda like an air suspension seat. The centre console tombstone may annoy some. Lots of width for leg room.
@Prince Ecstar what year is your century? Is it the V12? I’d love to see videos on yours
@Prince Ecstar just to confirm... you’re saying the century was MORE comfortable than the rolls? Did you sit in the front and back seats of each?
I look forward to it!
@@td12ification How much did it cost you ?
I love that they keep up this premium content, even the views etc are on a ununderstandable current low! 😊
Appreciate the compliment, thanks for watching!
@@RoadsUntraveled 100th aniversary of.. the Toyota Company
Now we talking my guy! I love it when you review these JDM cars.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! You may be disappointed this Thursday though when I drive a Corvette hahaha
@@RoadsUntraveled hahaha. There are still many JDM you havent had. I am from Africa so we know many JDM cars. Find a Toyota Caldina Turbo ( came from factory with with 3sgte). As your subscriber i will definitely enjoy your review
Love sedan! Always love the shape. Plus the V12. Perfect combo.
Under the front passenger seat is a pull-out plastic that I believe is for storing the slippers of the VIP. When he/she wants to stick their feet through the front seat, the first (of course) take off their shoes, the driver takes out the slippers for the VIP, the seat middle opens up, and all is well in the world.
Just by looking from the video, i can imagine how comfort that car is... the seat position, the ergonomics, no noise inside, except marcus, and no noticeable bumps, almost like it float on clouds... i mean.. damn..
It literally felt like a couch, almost put me to sleep. In hindsight should've had one more cup of coffee before the shoot lol
Awesome, video. A lot of respect for him not pulling the engine on such a complete car and keeping it looking clean!
I had my first CD player in high school and I dropped out of school in 1989 so CD's were around before you were even born . They just took an extra 15 years to show up in car's . Not long before digital music could be downloaded from Limewire .
hey ur in bc, me too! nice to see a local youtuber for once! sweet century, basically what i wish my ls400 was 😂
cheers from langley!
I traded a 2015 Bentley for a 1997 century they had at the dealership, made money on the trade and the ride is 100 times better and also 0 issues at 45k miles
Got to see a VIP build of one of these where I live near Toronto and man is it a sight to see. Beautiful cars
I think you're onto something here! Good to see you!
In the market for one right now! Super helpful vid!
Love this review. What an odd ball car too!
Great car and it's good to see the owner keeping that thing clean.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
I really need one. It would make a great complement to my RX-7 FD and fleet of Thunderbirds :)
The tape deck 10:35 is actually Sony manufactured Sony WM-EX612, but branded "Century". Everything had to be 日本製 (Nihon-sei) or Japan-manufactured since the emperor or some (likely nationalist) corporation executive would be the passenger.
The interior wood grain panels were produced by YAMAHA.
All of them are real wood.
The curved shapes of the center console and rear armrest are wonderful. From Japan
What a luxury sedan! In Indonesia, only two lucky persons who can owns this queen of all goddesses.
And of course, only state official persons who can own this super luxury sedan, beside that, those who are entrepreneurs or company owners also can own this beauty queen..
I had a Q45 once...1st gen. When i took it to get it inspected they tried to put the rollers on the front wheels. After arguing with the dude and basically telling him to look under the rear...he turned it around.
After that he came to me and asked did i put a chip in it. I told him no. He then pointed to the sticker in the engine bay and then to a computer screen. The sticker said 276hp. The screen said 305hp.
japanese v12 is like a indestructible gundam robot
The fuck was that about a rice cooker?! 🤯😆
Cool review I love all your reviews but so cool when you do odd stuff we don’t see
Damn that would be such a sick daily. Looks very mafia.
Dictator stuff ;)
It looks sooo freaking compfortable...!😍😍😍
It really is, just floats on airbags. Mines a 2003 but i got the leather trim
@@brettlarkins2740 hey that’s awesome. quick question, howd u get an ‘03 ?
@@fardinhooo the auctions in Nagoya. Are you in Australia, these are now legal to import
@@brettlarkins2740 ah dammit. im in canada but i do planning on importing one very soon. the 25 year rule here applies so i’ll be looking at a mid 90s one. hows urs been in terms of ownership ?
@@fardinhooo its just exceeded what i expected. Reliability of a Camry, smooth power, unbelievable quality of the interior and exterior. Turns alot of heads. I look for any excuse to go for a drive during lockdown. You better get one early before all the yanks do
Anyone that slams these on coilovers and stupid wheels don't deserve to own them.
The beauty is in the elegance of how it drives down the road stock.
Each to their own!
@@darrienplante5565 nah, the whole "stanced" thing needs to die. It's just lame and basically turns your car into a static piece of lawn art at best.

Those V12s make for glorious engine swaps ...with turbo if you prefer. The Hoff from Nugget Garage just whacked one into a Cressida
EDIT: Holy shit I love the twin turbo v12 Celica idea
That mic of for voice recorder.
Not a word about how it rides.
this is my dream luxury car
Very cool great video
Fun fact, the Top Secret Supra yanked this engine and has it.
I cant believe you guys are filming that car in that muddy parking lot lol
I can think of another Century that offered a similar plush ride, squishy seats, ash trays in the doors and a six disc cd changer.
The door handles are from the JZX81 MK2 sedan body. So very toyota to use the parts bin when ever possible :D
correction, the car everyone else but americans could drive, until now
Wait till you see a long wheel base version
Great video, cheers. I've always liked the Century, and the Crown too, which was a bit more accesible to the average driver, particularly in western countries. It's interesting that the V12 is quite small- usually a V12 would be at least a 6 litre, in most cases. I hope to own one someday! Keep up the great work. "-)
Thank you! You'll get there.
I am thinking of pulling the trigger on the 1993 century with 80k miles.
This car is very special compared to the used Used Bentley and Rolls-Royces of the world because is that it's way more reliable
This car is the most gangster that gangster could be..
Haha pretty much 😛
Cressida on some juice!!!!
Hell yeah Marcus ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️💥💥💥💥💥
TO THE MOON! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️In style.. of course.
What theee!!! That's sick
Haha we thought so too 😛
What’s the mpg on this v12 for the 1997 century?
If you have to ask about the gas mileage of a V12, you probably shouldn't own a V12 ;)
So want one of these
Can we please get a link to the camera mount you use on the windshield bro?
We use a mount from Film Tools called the Gripper 3025. It isn't the best mounting option out there but for the money you can't go wrong.
@@RoadsUntraveled Thanks!
Fun fact about these Yakuza Cruisers: Only 4 people are qualified to paint them.
Its so quiet its because it has 5 muffler usually a car would have 1 or 2 to pass through some sound this one doesn't even the insulation under the hood is so thiccc with 3Cs you would thought that the engine didn't start
in europe we have one of these in left hand drive if the toyota owner at the time would come to europe
The original gangsta car
Let's Goooo
Could you please help me to ask the owner. What do I need to do to import one of this car myself?
Depends where you live! Either an exporter in Japan who you trust to place you car on a ship or an importer in your own city. Bid in the auctions is one way of going about it, then paying taxes once it lands, inspection (if necessary) and then registering/insuring it for the road. Brave Auto International and @Thebcroll on IG are two great options we've worked with in the past!
Love the car . I want one so bad . How about those side view mirrors?!
Ugliest thing I've ever seen lol
This car is a lost nugget among a pile of coal. My dream car.
Is it for sale?
Want want want…….😮😊
That local is called Phoenix
No, it is a Hoo-oo (from chinese mythology)
I want one.
Toyota Royce.
Did he sell it? I’m looking to pick one up
Yes he did, I bought it lol.
@@darrienplante5565 I’m jealous! I’m looking into getting one but it’s hard to find one with the options I want. I’m looking for column shifter, wool interior, and fender mirrors

They still make the century today....but it's got a sad v6 hybrid coz it's no longer fashionable to have all these cylinders.
V8 hybrid
It’s a V8 hybrid from the LS600HL
The head phone and stuff are optional stuffs.
OLD TOP 😎👍🏻
Be aware that the parts for these things are incredibly expensive if your going to get one
That's understandable. Do you have one?
@@Rom116Unashamed i was looking at one until I looked up some of the main parts for it not that they would ever need to be replaced lol
@@corrion1 actually the parts arent that expensive since most of the parts are ls400/430 parts and there easy to get.
What kind of a yahoo would pull the V12 from a Century to put in a Celica? That's pure idiocracy....
maybe the rest of the video will be good. but i stopped at the 3th minute. so the gentlemans agreement was set up due to different reasons. do first your homework before you post ''information''
These are hand painted with 12 layers of paint. To quality to paint this car, one has to work as an understudy for a year.
We saw maybe the same video, but it's 4 years of apprenticeship(?).
@@oneanddone7992 you are correct and I appreciate the correction!
It is a bit of an issue that this specific car is technically illegal in the US as it is still 24 years old... I wonder how the get around that..
There in British Columbia, Canada. Newer gray imports occasionally do make there way into the US.
It's a Toyota! Of course all the toys work as new . Duhhhh lol
WHAT PUTZ THOUGH FILMING IN A MUDDY PARKING LOT WAS A GOOD IDEA?
👍
First
NO six
112th
Nope
I have two of those but trade it for a Tesla 😂
