Most common questions I get and here are some answers:
▶︎What's the difference between cold pressed and hot pressed?
Cold pressed is on the rougher side and hot pressed is the smoothest. For example with hot pressed the paint won't sink in as much and will dry faster, vs cold pressed is the most traditional watercolor paper for artists, the paint will sit for a while until it settles and you can do dry brushing. It also dries longer because of all that. They are both fun, I just have been painting mostly on hot pressed because of my style. Hot pressed is good when you can paint faster and when you use a lot of paint. To determine which paper is best for you I think it's a good idea to try out all three kinds, hot pressed, cold pressed and the third kind - rough watercolor paper, this one is super bumpy!
▶︎How long does it take me to finish a painting?
Anytime between 40min - 3hrs. It all depends on what I am painting.
▶︎Do I use watercolor in pan or out of tube?
I mostly use watercolors out of tubes.
I think it helps me in painting with layers. I feel like it's so much easier to create that vibrancy when I can use more paint.
▶︎What are the basic colors, brushes papers I recommend for a beginner?

▶︎What is art masking fluid?
It's a fluid (also known as liquid frisket ) that preserves white areas, white areas of the paper where you want to stay white. It's made of some sort of latex. Once you place it on your watercolor paper, on the area you want to stay white, wait until it completely dries before starting to paint. At the end, once your paper is dry, you can peel it off easily with your fingers or using an eraser.

I’ve been watching you for well over a year now, and I know I shouldn’t still be surprised at how talented you are. But each painting is more beautiful than the last. The thumbnail image looks like a photo it’s so realistic. The way you captured the energy and movement of the water and the animal is perfect. That turtle looks like he could swim right off the paper into my lap.

Maria, this is absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing your talent. As a beginner, its difficult to have all the colors you are using and would be really useful if you could put alternative colors that are similar. I've still got a lot to learn about color mixing, so this would be helpful

Yes :) She's an oil painter, pretty much her entire life, I never wanted to paint, never tried oils, then suddenly started with watercolors in 2012 and felt in love :)

Watercolor is difficult for me as I am detail perfection but wanted to try watercolor wet on wet. I struggle terribly because I try to fine tune lines or color and you just can't do that without making mud. Your style, subjects and materials list is the biggest reason most of my practice is done with your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your passion with us. Nature is my main art subjects and some of your videos I have done and posted on my FB page my friends and family think I'm some kind of wizard but with out your videos, I would just be making messes.

+Sunshine's Shadow thank you so much and I am very happy to inspire you in your watercolor journey 😊I'm a more of a detail painter as well but if you are having problems with color selection or not mixing them right, you can always try to do some tests on a separate sheet of watercolor paper. It's really good to know which colors mix best. Also you want to start with lighter layers and then gradually add more. Thank you!

Hi Maria. This is a Patreon question. Are the videos for your patrons step by step with talking you through the process or just music? Do you keep the older painting available on patreon aswell or are there just the new videos that have been created for that month available. Thanks :).. Love this painting!
Hi Mia, thank you so much. So I started Patreon in April so it's been a little less than two months now. I have 4 real time videos there so far. Two of them like "Watercolor Wolf" or "Golden Fields" haven't made it to my youtube channel yet - those would be short versions posted here, hopefully soon. Then I have pencil sketch videos like peaches and rose available as well. The videos are slow, barely edited to the point that they are about 1 hour long or so. They are real time without any speed up like on youtube. They are with music as well tho. I have two extra videos where I talk about my art supplies and papers, these are with voiceovers. Then whatever I post on youtube, I make notes on those videos on my Patreon or just share the photos for reference. I share my palettes. I also have pencil sketches from some of my past videos as well like Watercolor dolphins.l. I do post more than what I promise under $6 subscription, because under $6 I offer 2 real time videos per month plus pencil sketches for those videos and videos of pencil sketches if available, also photos of my paintings for reference. But then I add more stuff, like I mentioned above. With upcoming months I will gradually have more real time videos. But for now it's 4 since it's been almost 2 months, next one is scheduled for June 1st. A video is "Watercolor Tall Ship in the Ocean". I will also be posting a pencil sketch. The video of a Tall Ship will be available on youtube as well but in short version. Thank you Mia :)

Quick question, did you use a reference picture for the turtle or did you draw that from memory? I can draw something if it's right in front of me, if it's not, I find my pictures tend to be a bit more abstract since in my normal life I am not one who pays attention to details unless I have to LOL Thank you!
Thank you so much, sometimes I do sometimes I don't :) I did use a sea turtle for a reference, sometimes i use few pictures and put things together :) most landscapes are out of my head, I have a stock of photos I go to when needed thanks!
