Exactly! She’s pure evil they where her STUDENTS. Jesus the power dynamic is insane. Do we honestly believe that these kids would have done anything like this had their beloved teacher and “friend” not manipulated them into thinking they needed to save her!!
It’s vile to lord sex over anyone in lieu of *favors* especially your high school age students. Pam chose her victims from the fringes of her students and isolated them from authority. She’s repulsive.
Thank you for your non-annoying voice (actually an excellent voice) and not including obnoxious background music/sound effects. It's difficult to find... no frills. Subscribed...Thanks!
Oh god how I hate when there is no information about what happens to the pets...as if they're irrelevant. Thank you so much for including Halen's follow-up!🐾👍🥰
Same! David Sedaris once said how he asked one of his sisters to go see a movie with him and she said no, because she heard that a dog died in it.😂 I would have said the same.
Wow, another video from one of the best channels on RUclips! Thank you Chris & Amy ♥️ Pamela Smart was so sick! Her poor husband never had a chance and she ruined those young kids lives! Such a sad story! Pamela is a sick person and she’s where she needs to be forever, locked up!
I was incarcerated in Bedford hills correctional facility in New York.. I had a few interactions with Pamela smart and she is a complete liar and a sociopath ! Her narcissism was sickening I absolutely could not Stand her!!
The movie is a little different but very, very good. I never realized Pam was so young and Greg was too. So sad she was so evil to manipulate those kids and killed her husband. I honestly feel sorry for those kids. Poor Greg and his family 🙏🏻
I'm glad you mentioned the movie "to die for", Joaquin Phoenix and Matt Dillon are great in it. Dark comedy for sure. Sad murder though , it's always sad.
Another great recap. Love how you give the story-form format and make it easy to follow. No bells and whistles, just good clear, compassionate story telling! Keep going, and we'll keep watching!😊
I can’t imagine hearing someone discussing how they would murder their teacher’s husband, and not telling the police about it. I mean, I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’d rather have tried to prevent a death even if the police don’t manage to prevent it from happening. 😳
This case was so disturbing. She groomed those boys to do her dirty deeds. I watched the movie about her starring Nicole Kidman. She deserves never to be free. Thank you Chris and Happy Monday to you both!!😊
Right. She’s a predator. If she were a man, they’d want him in prison forever… and it angers me that people have this double standard, she’s evil and should never be free.
Spot on. She didn't just set everything in motion, she took advantage of minors to get the job done and ruined their young lives in the process. Nicole Kidman had her character down to a tee...it was all about what Pamela wanted! (Must be the season of the witch)!
I sometimes have reservations when young people get a whole life term, but in this case what she did was so cold and calculating, she's where she deserves to be and there she should stay.
This was local to me at the time it happened. I was having lunch at a restaurant a stone throw from the courthouse when the verdict came in. I will never forget the silence in that whole place. Then the affirmation and clapping when it was given. To this day she still takes no responsibility for her part in his death. She just says, I didn’t kill anyone. Orchestrating his death was so unnecessary. She could have just divorced him and continued on. So many lives altered and destroyed by her decisions. Narcissistic to the core.
Oh yea, I've heard this one before, but I love the way y'all tell these!! Thanks Chris and Amy, so much for all the amazing content!!!! Love y'all and hope y'all are having a great weekend!!!❤
Thanks for the recap. I just did a search and looked at some of those old images of Kim Basinger. She's more beautiful than I remembered. I never saw 9-1/2 weeks, so I can't comment on that. I saw one of her other movies, and she got my attention as a youngish guy back then. I still think that I speak for many in your male audience who reacted to that part of the video by thinking, "What do you care about Kim Basinger? You've got Amy." I vaguely remember this case. I wonder what happened to make Pamela Smart so stupid and narcissistic. That's very sad.
Love the clear, straight path and steady pace of your recaps. You dive right in and present all the important details without dragging it out. Also, I never have to rewind trying to figure confusing details out because you keep everything so neat and orderly. Thank you for your excellent work and informative content.
Even if they were manipulated into their involvement in the crime, I'm surprised that the people who forced Greg down and pulled the trigger of the gun that killed him were released from prison relatively quick.
They were kids if you lost your virginity to a grown woman who told you her husband was beating her and she was using sex to manipulate you (remind you he was a kid)! A kid! Who clearly showed remorse! The other 3 boys did not pull the trigger so theres that! But this would have never happened if it wasn’t for her! Anybody who doesn’t have sympathy for Billy doesn’t understand the psychological part of all of this! Good thing you weren’t on the jury, a judge or the parole board!

I enjoy watching recent interviews w Pam. She is livid that everyone is out of jail except for her. She still thinks that if she holds on to her lie it will get her out. Maybe if she told the truth years ago they would've let her out. She is wedded to her lie. She may actually believe it.
This case has always bothered me; Pam is highly intelligent, and I honestly have gone back and forth regarding her innocence. The one thing I cannot get passed is the recordings with Cecilia; Pam's claims that she was feeling Cecilia out and doing her own investigation is just unbelievable. If it wasn't for that, I might be more inclined to think she wasn't behind it. I do think she regrets it, was young, stupid and self centered. However, it's chilling to think she cared more about her dog and furniture than her husbands life. This is the one case for me out of so, so many where I truly want to believe she isn't guilty. However, no matter how much of a model inmate she has been, all the higher education she's achieved, it just can't outweigh she had her husband murdered. Another sad example of ruined lives and one taken too soon, all for nothing.
There's nothing to go back and forth about she groomed a bunch of young kids to do her dirty work. She's where she needs to be as a cold and calculating individual.
Have flitted between guilty & not also....however,on the balance of it I have to believe she's guilty . Also ,re her prison sentence she's doing lwopp because of the crimes committed on Billy also. So,rape & murder does equal lwopp. She can't be paroled bc she doesn't assume any responsibility for what happened. So, she ain't getting out... ..
Also, if she had Billy attempt to kill Gregg 3x & fail 3 x & Billy reported that back to her each time then she is so much more culpable than she's let any of us think. I've also vasillated back & forth between guilty & not guilty too, but am now firmly entrenched in guilty. My least important reason for that is...who else could've done it? & why would anyone shoot him dead ?
Hi Chris & Amy ❤ your stories are always great, but today's?!, I was hanging off your every word, Chris! 'And then what happened' kinda thing. Aside from the few minutes I got, er, caught up in my memories of 9.5 weeks. I saw that soooo many times. Mickey Rourke.....oh my. The soundtrack was sensational, too. Anyway, I digress, awesome story, guys. Love you to bits. Nearly at 400k!
Great info. Some things I didn’t know like what happened to Halen. Also Gregg sensing something wasn’t right one night and left? but Ted Bundy’s trial was the first televised trial in 1979.
She won't admit to any involvement so she can't show remorse - she'll be denied release until she explains herself. These kids didn't come up with this on their own. There are several movie versions and all are really interesting.
I remember this and at the time I was thinking these were like... adults. ..older people. I was young but now looking back these are kids. They're all young people. They're a little more than kids
Even though I know how this ends, I insanely wish for Greg to get back in his car. Starting at 6:20 of this narrative I actually can picture each step that Greg took getting closer and closer to his death. My attention was captured. *The play’s the thing.* I agree Pamela was not as smart as her last name suggests. She needed to grow up. Even rock gods grew up and ditched the hair band metal glam mullet look. It’s amazing how often people can arrange murder instead of just walking away.😢
I remember the film called “ to die for “ casted by Nicole Kidman & Joaquin Phoenix - the novel was written by Dan Bronson, the film is based on this real-life murder😢
Another film version of the story is actually called murder in New Hampshire. It starts Helen Hunt as Pam smart. I was actually a background actor in it. I think you can maybe find it online but it was made for TV movie.

In many court appearances her lawyers tried to play up an innocence with the dresses and bows in her hair. Didn't work. My marriage ended within the first year. But murder just never entered our minds. Divorce. Its rough. But believe it or not . One recovers. At this point if she could get parole I think it would be fine. This is clearly grooming and statutory. It’s completely unacceptable to act as though the kids and Pam were on the same maturity level.
THIS.
Right?? I’m a teacher and everything about this is so wrong!

It’s vile to lord sex over anyone in lieu of *favors* especially your high school age students. Pam chose her victims from the fringes of her students and isolated them from authority. She’s repulsive.
They WERE on the same level. Pam Smart acts like a fifteen year old. She played those kids and ruined their lives.
This case always baffled me. What was she thinking???!!! Crazy.
Pam will never be as smart as her last name would suggest.
