  • A video review of the Porsche 991 model 911 T. This is a generation 2 car from 2018 which features the 3.0 litre twin turbo 365bhp engine. Designed as a lighter, more pure driving car but for the road rather than for track use.
A gorgeous T pack interior featuring sports seats, ribbon pull door handles, coloured stitching, pinstripe fabric and rear seats. The T has a closer ratio gearbox with reduced throw short shift, a Sports chassis, PASM, 20 inch alloys and some other styling features.
We discuss the car and also take it out for a spin to see how it goes.
The car was for sale with Porsche specialist 911 Virgin but has now been sold.

Well there's one bit of crucial information that you seem to have skipped. The big difference between the manual and the pdk is that the manual came with porsche's torque vectoring and a limited slip diff. The PDK did not, and did not even have the option. In fact the only "real T" are the manuals, the PDK is just a base Carrera with some cosmetic changes.

Have one and absolutely love it. Have a 997.2 C4S as well which now is never driven. Separately, my daily driver is an F-150 Raptor. - The point of useable and drivable performance is what made me get a T over a GT3 Touring. Living in (US) Boston I would never get to 9k rpm and the GT3T would be frustrating in that one could never truly use it as intended. Too much car and not being able to push stronger cars is so unsatisfying. With the T, I can push it like crazy and both car and driver are very happy.

I am also exploring the balance of how much power you need and whether cars are potentially getting away from us as drivers in the real world a bit. There will be a video to follow on the subject based around my own daily driver which isn't possibly what people might think I'd buy !

    With regard to the handbrake,.
Porsche have always got things arse about face, they did the same when they introduced the PDK gearboxes, pull to change down, push to change up. While all of their customers were lusting for the proper logical systems that they could get in the 360 F1 and the BMW E60 M5,. Porsche said that their customers prefered it this way!. That's Porsche arogance for you!. It took Porsche a couple of years but eventually they bowed to customer pressure.

I totally disagree with your analysis of the handbrake. I have a carrera t as well as several other cars and I am in agreement I hate all electric handbrakes but here’s where I disagree. In my daily driver it has a standard foot brake ( ok my daily is a truck for work) but I put my foot on the parking brake pushing down, then when I want to release it I pull the lever. In this sense the Porsche is exactly correct. If you are comparing it to a hand e brake then you are correct it’s backwards. What’s more aggravating is the car makes you put your foot on the brake to release that took a second or two to figure out. This car is so wonderful it’s a minor nuisance any way. Good detailed initial reaction review. I will say as a new T owner with about 8k under my belt, this car is the one I want to drive. I have another sports car that will remain nameless I love but this is the one I can’t stay out of. I plan to put a bit louder exhaust maybe a flash tune and possible some forged wheels just to personalize a bit. Just a great car....

A 2 seater severely limits re-sale options. By not having rear seats you are denying the next generation their childhood memories sitting in the back of Mum / Dad's 911. Where did I say the roads are good in an African Country? If you are referring to my comments on Namibia I am working on the basis that, as a southern African country with circa 30% unemployment, a theoretical income per capita of around $5,000 per year but a huge imbalance between rich and poor the roads are going to be rough or non existent. When a good proportion of your population survives on $2 per day smooth roads are the least of your problems.
When you are South Buckinghamshire, crammed full of band H domestic properties and business rates that include Pinewood Studios alone at £4 million per year crumbling roads are not something you would ordinarily expect to find. Likening the roads in South Bucks to Namibia is an insult to Buckinghamshire's management not a compliment towards Namibia.
Traveling as I do in Thailand and in particular cycling in Thailand I can confirm their roads put ours to shame even in rural areas. I haven't cycled in Namibia so can't comment first hand but suspect I know what would be found.
