This album with the accompanied movie told a story so deep, so complete, raw and honest. Knowing how private Beyoncé keeps her live this was her truly bearing her soul. Grammy’s don’t mean much in comparison to the art but damn! If Beyoncé ever deserved a Grammy for album of the year it would’ve been this one. She literally takes you on a journey and the movie even tells another story that’s buried within this one. I can’t put into words how brilliant this album was and still is to this day! Brava 👏🏾
So, for Daddy Lessons. Beyonce talks about her father. Who was the manager of Destiny Child before the group fired him. He also cheated on her mother and had a child with his mistress. Now, Papa Knowles was very strict and no nonsense. He had her running in high heels to train her for her dreams to come true. He had her studying music and how to create harmonies. She was ALWAYS working. At one point Beyonce wasn't speaking to him because he cheated while working for her. It was crazy. her mom, of course, moved on and remarried. But it was rough. Jay Z, himself and his own cheating, actually helped her forgive her father.
As a Beyoncé fan for so many years, I absolutely loved your reaction! I’m so glad you felt everything I’m still feeling when I listen to it! Thank you✨
When you were talking about the different styles of music some have said the song reflect the 7 stages of grief: depression, denial, bargaining, loneliness, anger, sadness and acceptance
This is correct! In the visuals it was divided in 12 chapters: intuition , denial, anger, apathy, emptiness, loss, accountability, reformation, forgiveness, resurrection, hope, redemption. In the visual (movie) that was released with the album, the 12 stages are accompanied with beautiful poetry written by Warsan Shire, spoken by Beyoncé. It is so beautiful I can’t even put it in to words. You literally follow the journey and have extra context to what the pain did to/for her and how she had to overcome it.
You should watch some of her live performances from this era. She really put her all in. Sandcastles/Love Drought at the Grammys, Daddy Lessons at the CMAs, Formation at the SuperBowl. She basically performed the entire album (medley) at the VMAs, which themselves named the greatest TV performance of all time. I see you already reacted to Freedom at the BET Awards.
Thank you for letting us relive the first time listening to this masterpiece. I enjoyed your video very much, your reactions and emotions were so relatable.
She performed this at the CMA's with the Dixie Chicks. They wanted her to do it solo but Beyoncé said she would only perform with the Dixie Chicks. The CMA'S had Black Balled from the CMA'S and B wanted them to perform Daddy lessons with her because the Dixie Chicks had already gotten permission from B to perform the song on their tours.
I also think that freedom is about the freedom she feels coming out of the war that went on in her marriage.. while also being about what you are talking about..i think it's a double entendre for life...her life..our life..
Amazing reaction by an intelligent person finally. I love that u get it. Now u know why Adele broke her Album of The Year Grammy when she won over Beyonce's Lemonade. Biggest scandal in Grammy history especially after Beyonce's previous album, self-titled, a game changer in the music industry, lost album of the year to Beck.
@@satriaprimadana8436 nah he didnt. Beyoncés self tilted literally changed the music industry and was a global phenomenon. Nothing could be compared to that album
The visuals/film for Lemonade is an absolute must see! Poetry by Warsan Shire is spread throughout the film as well. The visuals have tons of cultural significance and fully tell her story. The imagery is intense at times but worth every minute.(Love Drought visuals are my favorite. Ethereal.)
Hmm that's so interesting about your perspective on the "jealous or crazy" line--I like it! I always interpreted it as what is worse: being jealous because it's true that there's someone to be jealous of because that would reveal that you're actually being cheated on OR being crazy because you're being paranoid about being cheated on but it's not actually happening. So to me, Beyoncé is saying that she would rather be mentally ill and have a loyal partner than be proven right in her doubts and investigations that the love of her life has completely betrayed her--that the latter would definitively hurt more. As it turns out, she wasn't crazy.
She really should have. Now, I'm no die-hard Beyoncé fan, but fair is fair. If she deserved the album of the year award for any of her albums... it was hands down lemonade. I also love that Adele, even though she won the award, made sure to give Beyoncé her well-deserved flowers and respect. I don't think anyone in history has ever broken their award in half just to honor another artist.

🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Love the knowledge you imparted with your fans concerning freedom. Definitely a powerful song for the black community. Formation is def an anthem. It’s an answer to all the rumors that ppl spread abt her ( beyonce never responds outside of music). It’s acknowledging our level of excellence/ the potential of it. 💙♥️❤️
I think Bey & Jay are definitely black Bill Gates in the making. Theyre both worth over a billion dollars & still building. Jay-Z’s deal with the NFL I believe is the next step in him attempting to become the first black NFL team owner. Beyonce is branching out, & they are wisely invested in art.
This is one of my fav of Beyonce! So glad you were able to repost. You'll be reacting to little mix? I saw you're curious about them and I really think you will like their lyrics and vocals
The Bill Gates lyric is two-fold. Yes, it is about influence but it also has to do with her and Jay Z other business venues especially in the tech world. And now that I think about it... it could also be about net-worth. Jay Z is a multi-billionaire all on his own. And Beyonce is no slouch. So, that conversation can have so many different levels to it that it would be an interesting conversation to have.
