Then, with that attitude, you won't get into video games, cartoons or anime. Whether you're doing live action or voice acting, everyone has to start off taking the corporate route; taking jobs that they 'don't want'. From what I gather, you're an amateur just starting out, as am I. That being said, in your position, our position, you can't afford to be picky, you can't afford to snub any kind of work if you wanna work at all.
Outstanding interview Laura and Travis! Way to keep it real, fun, inspirational, and to show your passion for your craft. Many blessings to the both of you in both your careers and personal life.
I think it's a real shame that most American voice actors get into the industry as a complete afterthought and see TV and film as the "real" goal. Which is a shame, since being a great voice actor requires a lot of skill, you're trying to convince the audience your voice is actually coming from a fictional character and not from someone standing alone in a recording booth after all. It makes me wonder if voice acting will ever be as respected in America like it is in Japan.
fireaza i think it's a generational thing, most likely for their generation the thought of voice acting being a viable career waa ridiculous, but it's a realistic goal for newer generations of voice actors
I remember Andrea Romano talking about film/tv actors coming in to do guest spots for the cartoons she directed, and almost always they flopped and basically had to learn a totally new set of skills to get the performance right. It's shocking how few voice actors were trained specifically as voice actors, and I'm glad that's changing now.
Been playing New Vegas again and her distinctive voice is a mixed blessing. Like you'll be talking to random NPCs and instantly be able to go "oh, there's Laura Bailey again" which is a bit immersion-breaking, but on the other hand it's such a great voice and I could listen to her talk all day.
I do actually watch things because I know a favorite VA will be voicing a character in it, though. One of my favorite things is recognizing a voice in an animated show/game/movies!
I was trying to listen to lauras voice to find out who she was on dbz and when she started the trunks voice it blew my mind. Now listening I hear her accent in trunks voice
I'm thinking of going into voice acting myself and its so inspiring to see these incredible talents be so honest and break it down. I've loved them since their first days at Funimation, so I hope to one day have the level of satisfaction with my career as they do! 🤩
Did anyone notice Travis face at 2:29 ? Like he looks to the camera and is like "oh shit I shouldn't have looked directly at it, nobody saw, everything's cool" I just can't handle it x'D Love these guys, inspiring video!
For everytime you say you can't do something, a dream dies. I have a dream of being on criticalrole someday. If I say I can't, I never will. Maybe it won't happen, or is very unlikely, but a dream can uncover what is meant to be what you were meant to do.
ryutheslayer123 There have been a couple times that Matt has played overwatch and said “It’s High Noon” to get the enemy to run for cover when he was cornered.
Without watching the video I can definitely say this, have connections, a good Agent, great range, and great acting. Oh yeah, also some experience under your belt.
I'd like to be a voice over guy myself. Not necessarily games and anime (though that would be cool), but I would love to voice for commercials and documentaries and stuff.
You guys had a weird sound issue in this video? Very quietly you can hear some people's lines repeat for some reason, dunno if that's the mic echoing or whatever, but it's really weird.
I'm 30 and have always wanted to be a voice actor. I have a large voice palate and a plethora of "impressions" I do quite accurately. Including a women or two. But, I would need acting classes and some institutes run $2000 a year. Maybe one day. Until then I'm free to do Fallout mods for free if anyone has a script.
I'm an aspiring voice actor. been making sounds since I could properly utilize my vocal chords. What would be the best way for me to break into the industry? Where can I display my skills where someone in the industry will be able to hear?
+Lone Wolf Most ppl I've seen get this question is to start on youtube. Start recording doing different voices, offer your voice to projects and stuff. Just make stuff that feature your voice, put it online, don't stop making it!
So I want to be a voice actor. Now that I know that it is kind of easier because they don't have to judge you on your looks, but your voice, it comforts me.
I'll definitely hire you to be a character on some of my games if I can start my own game company, if you'd like. But that'll be quite some time from now lol.
Well I live in a small town and I feel I would need to get out of here first before I can pursue my dreams. Also I come from a poor family and don't have the equipment or space needed,
+ArkhamAssassin (ArkhamAssassin21) voice acting is something i like too, what i do is to record myself on the phone, you should do the same in the meantime
Is it worth to pursue my dream and leave Mexico to study and try to work in the US? Is it even possible? Because the only worth latin dub is Disney or Dreamworks
Best husband and wife duo in the industry.
Why, yes. That is objectively correct
They are also very cute together.
Geralt of Riverwood Bar none.
@DJ KO Nah you
You should see Matt Mercer and Marisha Ray
Laura Bailey struck gold having DBZ be her first gig.
Being a voice actress would be a dreeeeeeam come true whether I'd be a game, commercial, anime, whatever.

Master Minch Yoda Thanks for the correction and sorry for the error, english is not my native language
it's alright to make mistakes.

@@canniloni been meaning to start watching it for a while now, still haven't gotten around to it, though I still find Laura just as awesome
11:51 - Matt in the background: "AH COME ON LAURA!"
It's funny too cuz they both played the protag and heroine in star ocean the last hope and were romanced in the game.
i love travis! the guy is both a genuinely great guy and a marvel actor.

This is why I hate Nolan North. He has such a distinct voice, bc of his crisp scream

Laura and Travis are two of my favorite actors ever.

I'm thinking of going into voice acting myself and its so inspiring to see these incredible talents be so honest and break it down. I've loved them since their first days at Funimation, so I hope to one day have the level of satisfaction with my career as they do! 🤩

LAURA BAILEY!!!! AAAAHHHH THE QUEEN. MY FAVORITE VOICE ACTRESS. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH. OMG OMG
Why are Laura and Travis so feckin beautiful
Voice acting is my dream job that I'll probably never have
With that attitude you’ll never accomplish anything.
Honestly same. I dont even know where to start.
For everytime you say you can't do something, a dream dies. I have a dream of being on criticalrole someday. If I say I can't, I never will. Maybe it won't happen, or is very unlikely, but a dream can uncover what is meant to be what you were meant to do.
When voice actors are playing online, do they ever get recognised?
Sam Butler not sure but i know if I was mark Hammil I would spend every second of my free time using my joker voice to mess with people online.
Well Matt Mercer played Overwatch, there was doubt and it took people awhile
ryutheslayer123 There have been a couple times that Matt has played overwatch and said “It’s High Noon” to get the enemy to run for cover when he was cornered.
@@quinnsinclair7028 that's the best thing i've heard all day

All I hear is Mori senpai and tohru
All I can hear is Jaina whenever Laura speaks.
I'm an aspiring voice actor. been making sounds since I could properly utilize my vocal chords. What would be the best way for me to break into the industry? Where can I display my skills where someone in the industry will be able to hear?
