Dear Batel, I have found you today, because I was looking for good tortilla recipe. I have tried yours. This one is perfect. It will be my favorite from now. Thank you🙏🥰
I have a large electric grain mill and I'm wondering if it's absolutely necessary to go through the soaking process to remove the gel in the buckwheat? Have you tried this technique without the soaking process, etc.?
Hi there. I have not tried it with using an actual flour. I assume that the water ratio will be different than my original recipe because the buckwheat will need to drink more water because it was not pre soaked. I do welcome you to try your way, however I would recommend trying with only half of the amount of the recipe. So you don't end up throwing food if it doesn't work. I do know that it took me time to prefect this recipe in terms of quantity and ratio. But I would love to know how it turns out for you. Also, you can soak the buckwheat for 10-20 minutes in hot boiling water, and it should do the trick.
@@CharGC123 I give you my ratio for buckwheat flower tortillas in case you want to try them. 50 grams flower per 125 ml water. Blend with a bit of salt. Rest from 15 minutes onwards . I put a few drops xtra virgen olive oil on the base of my hot flat pan when I cook them for 2 minutes each side aprox
@@CharGC123sorry, I get 2 medium size tortillas out if the above mentioned cuantities. I flip the tortilla when it stars to detach from the pan by itself
Hi I like your recipe and just now I subscribed.I’m a health nut. I know I will like your recipes. Tnx for sharing this recipe. Good luck. They look yummy. 😋💗🙏🍁
you don't think it's gonna work. You really need exact water ratio, and usually the store bought buckwheat flours are not from the raw buckwheat. You can soak the raw buckwheat for 20 minutes in boiling water to cut the soaking time.
Try 1/4 cup of almond flour, or some sort of starch like corn, or potatoe, or arrow root. Or , skip the oats and add more buckwheat. Red lentils should work too. Please let me know what was best for you at the end.
Yes. Or don't put any oats, just put little less water. Like less 1/4 cup. I just like the texture that the oats gives. I believe almond flour would be absolutely ok too. Keep me posted. Good luck!
Excellent Bat-El Thank you. I have been looking for a good recipe for buckwheat tortillas. Do you ever get left overs? I imagine they would be eaten very rapidly!!!! Ideas for them would be great!!!
I like to make little crackers out of them. I'll make a video probably. Cut them how you like, drizzle some oil and spices and bake for 10 minutes on 375
Hi. Thanks for watching this video. Yes. I understand what you mean. But I wanted to show that the tortilla itself is oil free. Because many people are looking for oil free tortilla. I personally eat oils, and olive oil. But many of my recipes are naturally oil free. I hope I was able to explain myself in thr most respectful way to deliver my message.
It’s too bad this recipe has oats in it. I guess I can substitute it with almond flour instead. I’m diabetic and I cannot have oats, rice, potatoes let’s go.

Hi Batel - I just made these and they were fantastic! I put tofu scramble, salsa and baby spinach in mine and oh wow!! Yummy. Thank you so much.
Omg. This sounds soooo delicious!!!!! Thanks for giving these a go! Way to go!
I made these after 6 hours of soaking. Very good. I've seen other people say that they do not freeze well. In opinion, they freeze well.
Thanks so much. I appreciate the update.
Very healthy.
Absolutely. Ty

Wow. Thank you. I'm honored!!! Happy to have you here my dear.
Great name for a book!
Thank you!!!
If I want to use buckwheat flour what is the measurement
I have never tried. So. I'm not sure. Also, buckwheat flour is usually from the roasted one. So it won't be the same.
What is Buckwheat
It's a type of gluten free grain that is extremely healthy and good for you.
Hi
Can I use buckwheat flour?
Unfortunately no.
Can I use buckwit flour?...thank you
you don't think it's gonna work. You really need exact water ratio, and usually the store bought buckwheat flours are not from the raw buckwheat. You can soak the raw buckwheat for 20 minutes in boiling water to cut the soaking time.
Since we are allergic to the oats, can ground brown rice or ground millet or even chia seeds be used to replace the oats?

I am going to try with the almond flour. Thanks for sharing
Can we switch oats for another non-grain ingredient (almond or amaranth flour, etc.)
Yes. Or don't put any oats, just put little less water. Like less 1/4 cup. I just like the texture that the oats gives. I believe almond flour would be absolutely ok too. Keep me posted. Good luck!
what are the ratios of water and buckwheat?
Please click on the description below the video to see the full recipe details and notes.
Have water just a half inch to one inch above buckwheat.
Could anyone list a source for reasonably priced buckwheat groats (preferably besides Amazon) because I can't find them around here.
Try to look for a local Russian store around your area. Many times I buy mine there.
@@batelskitchen Don't have one, I've looked.
@@CharGC123 I also buy at whole foods in a bulk. By weight.

Ty so much. Yes. I'll be making a video to show what I do with them.
How many does the recipe make?
I believe 8-10
Please send me ideas for leftover tortillas

I can't eat oats, but beautiful video.
Thank you. Try almond flour instead.
Thank you for this no oil Tortilla. But confused that you put oil on the filling? Defeats the reason for making oil free.

@@laureeotero2745 you can skip the oats. But reduce the water a bit. Like less 3 tbsp water. Or more.
