I'm prone to high blood pressure and so have been trying to limit sodium intake; no easy task with so many foods containing ridiculous amounts of salt. Making my own bread will eliminate one more source of salt. Thanks for your video.
They look great! I couldn't believe my eyes when your tortillas puffed up! Great video! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Awww thank you so much! 😊 Really glad to hear this, made my day
Do we have to cook it on the stove? Top tons of people said that you can’t make them without the xanthan gum
I tried the recipe of the tortillas yesterday for today's lunch and MAAAMM thank you soo much ❤❤ the bread turned out amazing I added some ginger to the dough so that I don't feel the strong taste of my oats flour and it did great make sure to cover your dough with towels one under them and the other one on top so that it doesn't dry whenever you cook one you cover it once yoi finish put them in a plastic bag and put them in the fridge, I used them today they were perfect they didn't get hard stayed just like the minute I cooked them .. thank you so muchhh that's my new low calories fav bread
It's comments like this that encourage me to keep producing more recipes.
Thank you for sharing your recreation of this. I love ginger and think it will pair great with this and a bowl of red lentil soup.
You are awesome and thank you for stopping by😊
I really love your version using the press. I didn't think about using the press. Makes it easier for me. Thanks.
Hi sweetie! Yes, the press makes the process much easier and quicker than using a cutting board. But sometimes you have to make the best use of what you have at the moment.
Hope you are well Annette!
This is what called a healthy "Carb" not as the the other one with excessive flour 👌🏻
Thank u so much madame , cheers from Egypt ❤️
@Vincenzo 👋Hi Vincenzo!
This option is a great complex carb alternative to traditional corn or flour but I do love those too😄🙈
Thank you so much by the way for stopping by and sharing your location. Much hugs all the way to Egypt! 🇪🇬👩🏻😃👩🏻🍳
Thank you so much! I've had to go gluten free (Not by choice). This will add so much excitement to my food! I'm so happy. Thank you for sharing!!!

Made these over the weekend. Awesome recipe!! Thank You Lilia. Healthy and delicious 😋
Hello from NYC!!
Thanks Lillia. We're going to try these tonight.
Awesome!😊hope you enjoy the recipe
Dumb Question, but may I use OAT FLOUR instead , that I have on hand? Also, how long to leave covered in bowl in the rolled ball before rolling out?
First up, its not dumb at all! Secondly, yes you can use oat flour because she is making oat flour from scratch..that is from rolled oats. Thirdly, i think anytime above 15 minutes is good.
I was about to say she is grinding oats to make oat flour.
Hi! Thanks for the video they look amazing. Question how long do they keep?
Great video! Cool method to make the tortillas and quite simple to do :)
Hi Lilia! Thanks for sharing your recipe. Tortillas look so appetising ♥️
What other flour would you suggest to choose for baking such tortillas using same baking method.
Thanks 🌹
@NikolAckerman 👋Hi Nikol!
It's my pleasure😃 to share and thank you for stopping by.
So far I have only tried oatmeal and corn flour. The method to prepare either or is very similar.
However with corn flour you would not want to cook the flour over the stovetop like I did with the oat flour. But instead in a mixing bowl add the warm/hot water to the corn flour and let it soak up for about 5 minutes before mixing. Then let the dough rest for about 10 minutes.
Other then that, the following steps are exactly the same😊👩🏻🍳
@@CookingwithLilia Sounds good and definitely will give it a try as well. For people who are seeking GF food corn flour option will be life changing 😇. Thanks for sparing your time and thorough explanation, Lilia🌹
@@CookingwithLilia Corn flour option sounds life changing for people seeking GF food options. Thanks alot for sparing your time and thorough explanation, Lilia ❤️
@NikolAckerman Glad to help in anyway I can and receiving feedback always helps. So thank you for sharing your point. Hope you enjoy the recipe dear!😊
Simple and healthy!

LOL - That cheese did not want to be eaten! The struggle! Thanks for sharing this recipe :)
@COOK-Don'tBeLazy 🧀😁
Hey I'm gonna make these tomorrow but can you preserve these or do you have to eat em straight away?...
Hello-hello! I suggest you make the dough ahead and refrigerate. Then prepare and cook the tortillas at time of eating. It will make for a more fresh and enjoyable result. Hope this helps and I apologize for the delay.
Looks good, I’m impressed!
Thank you for sharing the recipe!
@MissHappy 😆OMG I love your profile picture so cute, had to show this to my cat Minina🐈⬛.
Thank you for stopping by and hopefully you give this recipe a try, blessings to you wherever this message finds you!
@@CookingwithLilia thank you for your reply. I will give it a try this weekend, finally grabbed some oats. 🥰 say Meow to your cat for me. I also have a cat and we are from Thailand. Bless you for sharing the recipe again. 🤍
Hello 👋🏻 can these be frozen? Will I have to cook then freeze? Also can I make burritos with them and freeze those, will the texture be fine?
OK Lilia, you're starting to spoil me😆 Love your videos!
@DanielLynn 😆🤣👩🏻🍳
Great video!! Can you do a video for making chicken mole? These tortillas would be perfect to eat that.
@NorbertoLindgren didn't think of that but now that you mentioned it I will have to give it a try with mole.
I was never a fan of mole as a child so I never bothered to learn but will have to request mole once Iam at my mother's. Mole with a side of rice🤤
@@CookingwithLilia I absolutely LOVE mole! If you make it, I'll eat it!
@NorbertoLindgren I really must master this recipe then👩🏻🍳
Looking so healthy and everyone will if they eat these oats daily
These came out awesome!!!....Daughter and Son gave me a thumbs up....Dad advances "2 spots" Thank you, subscribed and following!!!!
Glad to see another recipe!
@PhillipSnow And Iam glad to be back👩🏻🍳 Thank you for supporting!😊
Great job
Looks great, thank you.
Looks so yummy!
Did you use a dry measuring cup for the oats and a WET MEASUREMENT CUP FOR THE WATER? Is there any way to use steel-cut oats instead of processed ones? I love the idea you didn't use oil.
You should be able to start from regular oats and then blend them till they are smooth like flour. Good luck!
Hey buddy, for this recipe you will need "old-fashion oats" which have been rolled out and easier to blend. I personally haven't used "steel-cut oats" to prepare this specific recipe. You could try to blend them and hope it doesn't ruin your blender (I don't suggest though).
As for the measuring cup, I used the same. Measured the dry ingredients first, then the wet.
Hope this helps and I apologize for the delay, just now returning.
@SilverStudioSEO - So sweet of you, thank you for stepping in to help me when I couldn't.
God bless you!
They look really nice
Looking great Lilia!!! ♥️
@SelfLovewithTVBeauty 😊thank you!
Hi. What if I don't have the press?
Beautiful, thanks 😊🌈
the video was awesome. I tried them but, they came out nothing like yours. No matter how thin or thick I made them they tasted under cooked. Did you use oil or spray in the pan? I really love the healthy version and would like to get it right. Also how long did you let the dough rest for?
Could try lightly toasting your oat flour in a dry pan?
@Eggyboi you know I never thought of that but it would probably enhance the flavor profile.
Iam thinking maybe toast the whole oats first then passing it through the blender or you will end up with oat flour dust everywhere.
Would be interested to hear if you try toasting this
Fantastic!
Did you put any oil in the pan or did you just do it without it?
Hello! I did not oil my cast iron pan, just pre-heated. Make sure to not skip the pre-heating or your tortillas will stick and overcook. Hope this helps and I apologize for the delay in responding. Just now returing
thank you lilia
Does it taste like regular tortillas?
@Bella 👋Hello Bella!
I would say it has a very similar taste and texture but not identical.
Given the sticky consistency of the oat dough, the oatmeal tortillas can't be pressed out as flat. As corn or flour tortillas so they are a bit thicker. Give the recipe a try though and let me know your honest opinion😊👩🏻🍳
These are closer to corn or wheat flour tortillas?
Hey buddy! This recipe is closer to a corn tortilla in texture (rough, not smooth once cooked) and have some flexibility as that of a wheat tortilla. But the overall result is unique in that it has much more moisture (than corn & wheat) and more fragile. Hope this helps

How can I store for later use?
@PricilaC 👋Hi Pricila!
You have two options:
1.) Refrigerate the dough in a zip lock bag and prepare fresh day of.
OR....
2.) Cook the tortillas and once cooled. Wrap them in paper nakins and in a zip lock bag. This method will last you 3 days in the fridge. Reheat in a medium-high temp skillet 2 mins per side.
Hope you enjoy this recipe👩🏻🍳😊
How much oats flour to water plz?
How long should I let the dough rest for?
Till it cools down
Hi Lydia, just until the dough cools down a bit and is easier to manage. This dough tends to be a sticky one. I would say 15 mins should be enough to cool down. Hope this helps!
@ZainabAlshamaa - thank you sweetie for helping me on this one when I couldn't answer. Really appreciate it😊
Hi Lilia,
My oat tortillas are NOT soft and pliable and they crack when I cook them. What am I doing wrong?
I made them but I kind of fried it with a cooking oil I make for birria tacos. But these are so Healthy I cannot wait to make it for my grandparents who loves oatmeal 😂😂💗
I wanted to add pics but I can’t lol
@ManuelSuazo 🤣🙈 Hello Manuel!👋
Thanks for the laugh and wouldn't have thought of adding some of the birria oil, so great thinking! Did it work out though? Because the texture is less sturdy than corn tortillas. I would have loved to have seen pictures of your masterpiece and such a bummer RUclips doesn't have that option.
Hope you are well though😊
@@CookingwithLilia hey! yes it came out so good! :P it will shrink a lil but it came out with a little bit of more of taste with the birria oil. it basically fried. im doing it again right now :D
Looks great! Ya done good.
Thank you Patrick! 😊
I know you are trying to make a healthy version, but what if you added butter or manteca, have yiu tried this and how where they if you did?
Hi JJ😊 I haven't tried this recipe using oil, so I couldn't say firm results. However, the dough is much stickier compared to corn or flour tortilla dough. So you could use butter or lard when shaping the tortillas into balls, it would make the process much easier to handle.
Hope this helps!
Love it! Keep it up with the videos
@MihadAlzayat Thank you and definetly putting in the best effort I can to run this one person production👩🏻🍳😊
@@CookingwithLilia things will pay off over time. Just keep making cool recipes. You’re doing great, seriously.
@MihadAlzayat ...yea figured I would never really know if this was meant to be. If I didn''t put in the effort despite there never being a perfect time to do this.
My filming times are off while keeping up with work responsibilities and having to look into investing in better lighting, a microphone, and trying to create a different stove setup if possible without burning the place down😆👩🏻🍳. Hoping to get it all ready by early next year.
For now I will continue to produce the best I can and feel free to share feedback
@@CookingwithLilia bahahaha, you def won’t burn the place down. I look forward to the videos!
Hmmm...trying to get rid of some plain corn flour (not masa corn flour). I'll try mixing 1:1 with oat flour, making a half done fufu out of the mix on the stove stop (I'mAfrican so that part makes total sense to me), and then I'll skip the usual steaming in the second part, leave it to cool and use the dough I get from that for the tortillas. If it turns out right I'll come back here and let y'all know. TFS.
What will the amount of the oatmeal be after pulsing and sifting? I have oatmeal flour, so that would be skipping a looong step.
Hi @Elisa - in your case, use 1 1/4 cups. Store bought oatmeal flour is much finer and will absorb water much quicker. Hope this helps and I apologize for the delay, just now returning!
@@CookingwithLilia Don't worry, thanks for taking the time to answer me! 😊
The little oat grains look like bakers yeast and it makes me so itchy.
You're funny! lol
How much oats and water
! cup of water, 1 cup of oats and a 1/2 a teaspoon of salt.
Thank you @Dr.DialTone for helping me out on this one, sweet of you!
God Bless you.
You state description down below but I don’t see it anywhere. What’s the ratio of oatmeal to water??
Hello GC! - to view the information in the description, you will need to click on the bold "show more" on (computer format) or on the bold "more" on (mobile format). The ratios are included! But will include here also, 1:1 ( 1part water to 1 part oatmeal ) hope this helps!
@@CookingwithLilia ok thank you
Hi it would have been great if you could show the texture of the bread
Hi, I made the dough according to the video, but why mine eon't puffed?
Is that oat flour raise your blood sugar or no thank you
I tried this tortilla method and it didn't work for me time consuming. I tried another recipe which is easier, instead of grinding oatmeal, I just bought the oat flour and added flour and cooked according to what all this recipes require and they were awesome.
It would be nice if you added how much oats and how much water
hey could u possibly gimme the ingredients in gram ?
😍🤤👌🏻👏🏻
@PaimanFarrokhvar 😊👩🏻🍳❤🙂
2:06 Is that salt?
I don't even eat that much in a month!
And you add more?
Are these tortillas OK to eat for a person with diabetes ?
Hello Carlos! I really wish I could answer this, but I am not a physician or nutritionist and afraid to give wrong advice.
@CookingwithLilia . Thank you for replying, I already did some research, and yes they're OK for me to eat 😋
@CarlosTJoost 🙌awesome glad to hear and good to know...
God willing sooner than later you can kiss diatetes goodbye forever
@@CookingwithLilia hello You can't kick type 2 diabetes or type 1 diabetes to the curb forever. You can control it through diet, medication, and it goes into a remission of sorts. You are beautiful...!! 💯⭐❤️💯⭐❤️
Hello Ms. Lilia,
I like the concept, however, as a visually impaired home cook, the lack of vocal instructions as you make the flour, and then the dough make it rather difficult to follow what's going on.
Jajaja!!

Marry me
Your version of " pico de gallo" is not authentic...pico de gallo only has Onions,tomatoes and cilantro and salt.
@FernandoFlores-xi3mh ....one can not ever win😅. However I invite you to give it a try but I can't promise you will go back to your original recipe
@@CookingwithLilia thanks, but no thanks! I'll stick to the real one.
Yeah these aren't remotely authentic 😐
