- In this video, I change the REAR brakes on a 2018 F-150. This includes removing the rotors to be machined. I include all torque values and bolt sizes. I also included part numbers for the torque-to-yield bolts that must be replaced.

Tools Required:
Ratchet Driver
22mm Socket
21mm Socket
13mm Socket
Deadblow Mallet
Torque Wrench
Optional Tools:
PB Blaster
Breaker Bar
Brake Grease
Gear Puller
BF Hammer
Parts:
Rear Brake Pads: BRF 1949 interchanges with part KL3Z2200C
Caliper Mounting Bolts: W717937-S439
No need to replace the mounting bolts unless they are damaged. If that was the case you should be changing your wheels nuts every time you take the tire off as well.
Torque to yield bolts are single use. Not all bolts are torque to yield, so no, you don’t have to change all of them out. Only the ones designated as torque to yield. Thanks for the comment 👍
Socialblade has you at about 107k views a month. With an RPM of about 8, that'd put you at around $856 per month in ad rev?
Hello. It fluctuates, but more or less pretty accurate. RUclips has been a decent side hustle so far. 👍
My brake malfunction light came on 2016 f150 of I replace the brakes and rotors will that make the light go off. Thanks
Any help anyone
Can anyone help me
Hello. It’s very hard to say. I would say, probably not unless your rotors and brake pads are totally gone. Usually, it’s a sensor issue. I’d take your truck to an auto parts store and have them run a diagnostic scan. It’s free. Best of luck and feel free to update this thread.
It was the plug in on the motor came loose no clip I zip tied it. Thank you for the reply. I'm definitely gonna watch every video. Do you have a Facebook page?
Hello. Glad it was something simple! I don’t have Facebook. RUclips keeps me busy enough! I appreciate your comments!
Great video, I did my brakes and getting out of maintenance mode was an issue. You were the only one that said it had to be done within 5 seconds - problem solved! Thanks so much!
You bet! Gotta be quick! Thanks for the comment.
I have 2019 F150 with push button start and I forgot to put into maintenance mode before having 1 caliper off. What do I do now? Piston might be over extended out.
Hello. Did the parking brake accidentally get engaged? If not, it’s no big deal. The safe mode is there to make sure the e-brake doesn’t accidentally get engaged while your hands/fingers are in harms way. Serious damage to your hands or fingers would be a likely result. So, go ahead and put the truck in maintenance mode and continue work. If the piston was too far extended, you’d know. The boot would tear and fluid would be everywhere. You’ll need a c-clamp or equivalent to press the piston back into the cylinder as I did. I hope this answers your question. If not, please follow up. Thank you.
I figured it out that i was only putting it in accessories only position, not the run position. That’s why it didn’t activate maintenance mode. And I accidentally pulled the brake switch and I then couldn’t stop it because one caliper was off it’s mounting.
So did you have to take off the caliper bracket to take off rotors or just cause it was more convenient to do it like that?
Hello. You could remove the rotor and keep the mounting bracket attached, but I’d say it’s likely that the caliper won’t come off easily and removing the bracket can help in that case. So to answer you, yes I took the bracket off for convenience, but you could get away with leaving it attached. Thanks for the question. 👍
If you dont want to do it the hacky way you can get a bolt you can fit between the piston and caliper frame, 2 nuts, and a piece of metal to span the gap where the pad goes. Put the nuts on the bolt, fit it in the gap with the plate, and unscrew the nuts forcing the piston back in.
What you described sounds like it would work, but no better than the “hacky” method I went with.
@@FastFixRUclips it just avoids plastic contact, id hate to crack it and have to wait weeks for a replacement. Someone might try to do it outside in winter when the plastic is more brittle, y'never know
@@jacobdies6774 oh, gotcha. I thought you were talking about pushing the pistons back into the caliper, not the parking brake. Yes, agree 👍
Awesome job. Thanks for saving me time and money!
You bet! Thanks for the comment 👍
Does this also apply to a 2015 f150?
Hello. Yes, should be very similar. Torque values may be different, however.
did you grease the slider pins
I did not. They were all the way greased. I was impressed how they held the grease from the factory install.
What if you truck is push button start?
That I don’t know. I’m sure there’s a video out there. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. Hope you figure it out. And feel free to update this thread with instructions 👍
I have completed the rear brake pads replacement Now I can't get it out of mantinance mode
Hello. Follow my instructions exactly on how to get it out of maintenance mode. They are toward the end of the video. Let me k ie if you still have problems.
@@FastFixRUclips I did follow your instructions more than once still willnot come out mantinance mode.
With key on throttle to the floor ebrake switch pulled out ( to rear of truck ) do I turn key off with throttle to floor and switch pulled or release throttle and switch then turn key off ?.
@@jayschroeder8091
-Set ignition to on
-Press and hold the accelerator pedal to
the floor then pull the parking brake
switch upward (apply).
-do not remove your foot from the
accelerator or discontinue holding the
switch in the upward (apply) position.
-set ignition to OFF then back to ON
within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the
accelerator and EBP switch until you get
a notification that it has been disabled.
Hope this helps!
@@jayschroeder8091 hello. I replied to a comment of yours with typed out instructions. Let me know if you’re still having issues.
