    If you're afraid of using a large C-clamp to press in the piston and damaging the electronic module, you can, with another person if desired, use a small c-clamp to hold in one old pad, the one away from the piston, and place the other old against the piston. Your f150 comes with a jack kit, and that jack kit has a pry-bar/socket with it. That comes with a plastic cap on the pry-bar part and this actually ends up being a smooth and non-difficult way to depress the piston into the caliper. Just go slow and steady and it'll go in. 1000% use service mode though. No matter what, you'll need to do that.

I was struggling on compressing the caliber piston and had to go to RUclips for help. This was my first f150 with the electric brake. Put the truck in service mode and no problem with compressing. That’s what I found, brake pads way to tight on the caliper bracket slide clips. They should slide freely with anti seize or grease and they did not, even the new set after filing and cleaning caliper brackets, filed down new pad C channels and installed- good to go, no more hang ups causing excessive pad wear.

    Hi
    You make a big mistake. DO NOT lubricate copper grease between hubs and brake discs. In copper fats,
    there are small sand grains that make you have Total Roundout.
    You may only use some common oil.

  • @jbone247
    @jbone247 5 лет назад +4

    For the love of God people do not use a C clamp to compress the pistons on these calipers. You will apply too much pressure on the EPB housing and it can and will damage it. Ford even states this. Use a caliper compression tool, theyre cheap enough at Harbor Freight.

      You could have multiple issues. You may have damaged the calipers and from the sound of it, you put the pads in wrong. The pads with the springs go on the insides. After you verify the pad installation, actuate the E brake multiple times, if it still doesn't work, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and try again. If that doesn't work, see if your Ford dealer can clear the codes and retest.

      On rare occasions, you will need a caliper tool to turn the piston while pushing it in. The tool is available for rent/borrow at most auto parts stores.

      How did you end up pushing it back in?! Having the same problem

      Kevin Guarascio first you have to turn it clockwise a few time until it’s a bit straight. Then use a brake caliper kit and push it back in while turning it clock wise. It should start going back down. Let me know how it goes.

    It does't make any sense to change the rotors but not the brake pads!!!

      If cost was no object, I would totally agree with you but this is happening in every shop on customer cars, used cars, and under any kind of warranty. Thanks for checking out my channel!

    So you took all this apart and didn’t change the pads, this is a complete waste of time and money. Why would you not have thrown a set of pads into it, you can see the pads are shit with grooves cut into them . For a hundred dollars more you could have done a complete warranty repair, they will bring this back in a month.

      I recommended them but it wasn't my call. The pads were still at 80% and the rotors are harder than the pads so they will smooth out. Thanks for watching.
