Prusa (Tools) Rugged Boxes - XL | 3DesignsCH | 3D Printing Ideas

We love neat storage solutions, so when we came across the Prusa (Tools) Rugged Boxes designed by the talented 3DesignsCH to perfectly fit all the gear you get with the Original Prusa XL, 🌟 including spare parts and six Nextruder Nozzles - we just had to give it a go. And we have to say, that printing this was a blast. 🧡 The result is not just functional; it's a visually stunning addition to our workspace. And since we feel this is exactly the case for our true multi-material printing, we printed the seal from Flex and the body from our Prusament PETG in Galaxy Black, Prusa Orange, and Signal White.

Love these little boxes! Tangent Question if anyone reading comments knows: Is the draft shield by Prusa for the XL definitely dead?

They just announced the XL enclosure and it is part of it. While you cannot buy it on its own, you can probably buy only the spare parts for the draft shield and have it installed yourself, following the enclosure instructions. I don't see the spare parts just yet, but maybe soon they will become available. The manual is already up on the website. Maybe once this is fully out in the wild, they will offer only the shield on its own.

This is awesome! It’s amazing to see the XL in action again!
For future videos I’d suggest printing specialized/custom items though. Boxes like these are available for much cheaper in any hardware store, the inserts/compartments are a little harder to come by, so showing more different variations of them would have been super.
The inserts shown here are pretty cool already though.

If I’m just getting into 3D printing, would the XL be an okay choice to start with or should I just stick with a MK4?

Hi Camren. The Prusa XL it is an excellent to get into 3D Printing, and keep you on track for a lot of years 🙂
Even if it a more complex machine than the MK4, it still have the same features that makes the printing experience more user friendly, and reliable.

Nice design. Looks good. But, these days I look at the cost of printing via a spreadsheet and ask myself if can be obtained cheaper at my local discount store.

not everyting can be bought, and not everything is available. Of course theres zipties that doesnt make any sense because they are on another level of manufacturing so they are dirt cheap... but some other items are completely non existent...

I think you need to weigh durable along with the cost.
It's like buying cheap shoes. $20 shoes that last four months vs $100 shoes that last two years actually cost more over time.
