This is important history because the Astoria no longer exists either. God what I would've given to have been old enough to go to this gig. I loved that venue.
The Asoria was a great venue. I was walking past one day before the Nirvana gig and dropped and asked if there were any tickets left and the bloke in the box office said "They were sold out ages ago... but we just got a return." So I saw the show. I wonder if whoever returned the ticket regretted it.
Before Nirvana and similar bands came along popular music was going down hill with rap, hip hop, dance, rave, techno and boy bands dominating the charts! Bands like Nirvana breathed new life into the 1990s music scene.
That Love Buzz guitar solo part, Kurt’s just making pure noise , wanders around, presses Krist’s overdrive pedal, not giving any signal when he wants to move on to the instrumental riff again, but the band just jams along and at last Dave begins a long snare drum fill and takes the initiative at which Kurt and Krist follow Dave and then they’re back on track. A lot of musicians would get so confused an it ends in a mess.
There's a pretty stark difference between a musical artist trying really hard to sound good and just trying to sound true. Kurt cared more about sounding true and he ended up sounding good. He really was a genius
