Just a little something for the bungee cord fund. Thank you for all the work you do to inform consumers about armor performance - your dedication to this topic is valuable and appreciated! Given your first hand experience and understanding of the products, it would be really special to hear your thoughts in an annual review video recapping the best armor in various categories (by level, cost, weight, etc). All the best to you and your family and thank you again for making this educational content to share with us.

My issues is objectively rating them. I have this list which makes sense in my mind. As an example, the Highcom 3S9M is at the top because it's stopping M80A1 all while being sub 6lbs. It's more expensive than the RMA 1092 though. I rated the SAS Hexar lower because it's more expensive and when compared to the G2/3S9M, it let an M80 ball shot through.
      Level III+
      Highcom 3S9M
      RMA 1092 G2
Stealth Armor Systems HEXAR (B4C or Alumina)
      Militech RF2
      Hesco 3810
      Spartan Armor Systems Hercules Lite
      Adept Thunder RF (no M855A1)
Tactical Scorpion Gear III+ Xtreme (foam edge)
      AR500 A3 (No M855A1, and Single curve)
      Chinese Import Tile array
      Level IV:
      Adept Colossus
      US Military XSAPI
      RMA 1192
      Militech RF3 Black Label
Stealth Armor Systems Dragon Skin or Hexar Solid
Spartan Armor Hercules Xtreme (formally Ares)
      Hesco 4800
      US Military ESAPI
      RMA 1165
      Hesco 4601
      Tacticon TASPIV03 (Pending CPL Listing)
      Highcom 4S17M
      RMA 1155

Matt, what plates would you choose for yourself?
Im going dizzy comparing all of the ratings, weights, & prices.
Lightweight seems to be the specialty of SRT plates, but many of those seem to have high backface deformation (maybe my perception is incorrect on this side of the screen). So, the next logical thought is "What is the lightest level 4 that performs well?"
Thank you for all that you do for us.

This is my current list. It values stopping threats as the priority as well as build quality, weight/thickness, and price. Level IV while multi-hit capable aren't as robust as doing that as some of the newer RF2 plates to an extent. If you don't need AP protection look at the III+ recommendations. If you don't need .308 protection a multi-curve SRT option is viable, but you will still lose out on BFD with those even with 5.56

Is Al /Stealth Armor currently selling? Maybe I'll have to see if he's game. The specs have it as a big contender in the RF2 spec sheet at 4.8 lb.

Buffman, when there's foam around the edges, does it clearly feel like foam or is deceiving enough that one would need to peel back the cover to know?
Thank you for what you do!

    • @BuffRANGE
      @BuffRANGE  25 дней назад

You sometimes won’t know because it could be a rigid foam, so you’d have to pull cover or stab it with a sharp knife

Not always. It's dependent on bullet construction and the material used in the armor :D

If you could customize an SRT plate what would you want it to stop, how much would you like it to weigh, and how thin would you want it to be

    • @BuffRANGE
      @BuffRANGE  3 месяца назад +1

It would need to perform like the M210 or RMA ESRT plate. The issue becomes that at the weights those plates come in at, you can get a III+ coverage for not much more of a hit. It would have to be about .5-.75" thick tops.
