How dangerous will the Chinese Navy, the PLA Navy, be in 204? Shockingly capable, aggressive and offensive. This is a dominate naval force that will out perform the US Navy on it's current trajectory.

"A 2010 study from six Chinese cities found that fewer than 3% of men aged 18-29, and just over 13% of those in their 30s, experienced male pattern baldness. Earlier research from South Korea suggested that only 14.1% of the entire male population was affected, while Japanese men were found to develop male pattern baldness approximately a decade later than their European counterparts.
But as Han, now 34, later discovered, genetics isn’t everything. Stress, poor diet, lack of sleep and smoking can all contribute to hair loss. And with lifestyles in China changing dramatically in recent decades, so too are the country’s hairlines." CNN: 'With hair loss on the rise, Asia’s men grapple with what it means to be bald'
Chinese are catching up even in this field! ;)

Put politics aside that type 055 is such a beautiful naval vessel.
people gonna say it's made in China and going to sunk without war
The Type 055 destroyer is a monster of a ship. A battle group based on 6 Type 055's with supporting subs/planes will pack a tremendous punch
Australia cannot even build a friggin kayak.
not true, Australia could be cranking out more Collins class subs...for what it's paying the US, it could have 40 conventional subs that are good enough to kill everything, including larger American nuke subs.
@user-ii2lm6kg2g What's SCS has to do with Australian security?
Chinese Navy is actively exploring AI and drone carrier warfare. 2040 is far away. A lot will have changed by then.
All the more reason for US to use its lead in AI fully between now and then.
They hope to control first island chain by 2040, at that rate they’ll be global after our lifetimes
They have to in order to keep up, the US navy is already testing unmanned drones in fleets now
They have employed stealth UAV bombers, many types, they recently concluded they have 20k drone manufacturing units, and can churn out ...god...you don't wanna know.
@@xiphoid2011The Australian Strategic Policy Institute has pointed out that China leads in 37 out of 44 critical technology sectors including AI. They are churning out millions of STEM graduates every year so the gap between China and USA will grow even wider in China’s favour.
The word on Twitter is that the Chinese have started construction on 2 additional Fujian type aircraft carriers. - building 2 aircraft carriers at the same time.
Bigger than Fujian
I understand South China Morning Post says two nuclear powered aircraft carrier. That will be molten salt nuclear power plants similar to that of the container ship recently approved by Det Norske Veritas. These provide a higher temperature than old fashioned PWR and thus are more efficient and lighter.
Its not fujian. will be nuclear powered carriers.
most likely 1 conventional and next two nuclear
America builds 3 at a time
Good report. Thank you. The US won WWII because at that time the US had a huge industrial capacity well known as “The Arsenal of Democracy”. Today, China’s industrial output is the US, Germany, Japan, the UK, France, Italy, and India combined. People may argue that China’s technology is not as advanced as the US's. Okay, it is not absolute. Even if it is true, China can make up with numbers. Who said, “Quantity has a quality all its own”?
Agreed. There’s a lot of obsolete arrogance here about the size and power of the US Navy. Maybe that was valid in 1990, but it ain’t any more.
@@laurencejenner1127Also the assumption is that every USN fleet would converge to attack china without any dedicated to supply lines, blockades, and with 0% away for replenishment or repair. it takes a battle group what? 2 weeks to traverse the pacific? so 4 weeks there and back. Meanwhile the PLANN are a matter of a day or less.
The goal of the IJN was to knock the U.S. Navy out of the picture immediately and then negotiate a peace so that they wouldn't have to face it over the long term. They weren't able to do that.
I think a similar approach would be taken by the Americans in a war with China-completely knock out the Chinese navy so that the war would be over before the Chinese industrial behemoth turned the tide. There are differences though.
Japan couldn't reach the U.S. industrial factories and shipyards during WWII. The United States would be able to attack Chinese industry, especially if they had airfields in Taiwan. Of course there may not be functional airfields in Taiwan, or anything else in Taiwan if China decides it needs to blacktop the island to keep the United States from using it. The same is true of South Korea and the Philippines. Also, if the United States bombs China, China will likely send missiles into the United States. This could very well lead to nuclear war. Doesn't that sound fun?
中国人大多数都认为我们无法取代美国,美国是一个伟大的国家,美国是世界上唯一的领导者。
Dude watch the China Show. You will see just how much the CCP is blowing smoke up peoples asses. Subbrief included. They are doing the same thing Russia did right before the Ukraine War. And we saw just how badly Russian Military Equipment claims have been debunked by that war. China is using Russia's playbook.
It's not the technology that's worrying. It's their capacity to build 10 ships in the same amount of time America can build 1.
according to naval defense research it is more like 273 times, according to total production tonnage CN vs US
USA 2020s ≈ Japan 30s-40s
China 2020s ≈ USA 30s-40s
How the mighty US empire has fallen from grace.
@@stuartemmanuel3735 Good riddance :)
It’s 200 ships vs one
Imagine by 2040 what kind of Drone ships there will be.
Aussie Navy have just ordered six VLS drones with 64 x VLS on just one, a quick way to place extra VLS weapons in the battle group without having to build a full size ship.
And autonomous naval vessels.
I’m guessing some surface ships will be able to recharge the batteries of submersibles without them actually breaking the surface while going 10 knots
@@LeonAust Waste of money. The LUSV is a fundamentally flawed concept. You're still building a large surface vessel, only it's gonna cost LOTS more because of the unique engineering challenges. It'll also be vulnerable to EW & cyberattacks & incapable of doing damage control. A better solution would just to be design a large corvette or small frigate that functions as a dedicated missile platform: A mini-arsenal ship, basically. I reckon it would look a bit like a mini-me version of the Brit's Nelson class BBs from WII. Main difference is that instead of big guns it would be loaded for bear with missile cells. Other weapon systems & defenses would be pretty minimalist & mostly dedicated to self-defense. You'd want to fit it with a decent radar suite but there's not need to go crazy---Not everything needs to have full AEGIS capabilties. Slap a small helocopeter facility on the stern & call it a day,
Meanwhile... in Australia.
The usual clusterfuckery about how many ships we may or may not actually produce, and what weapons they won't have.
Its like history wants to repeat it self..
It's because our gov keeps changing their mind on what they want. For example the replacement for the Collins was initially meant to arrive by 2025.
You Australians needs to stop the show, the whole world knows it and you need to accept it that you guys are "nobody" on a global scale except a giant mine pit.. you guys can't even assemble a car.
Im proud of how far you have come in your multiple careers from navy ( I couldnt serve due to a spinal injury), to naval gamer, to naval education youtuber and the "other" work you do. Well done.
"Quantity has a quality all of its own..." this applies more to China than any other nation and we need to take it seriously.
In the US we have talked about wanting to have a cheap affordable modular ship that we can build in scale...that was supposed to be the LCS, Suffice it to say it did not live up to expectations.
The US has lost nearly a generation, nearly 30 years of naval building in its disastrous follies with the DDX and LCS programs, meanwhile China has literally pumped out hundreds of ships, and they are consrantly iterating and improving them.
Make no mistake, if this is an arms race, then we are very much loosing it.
The LCS can still be salvaged if our idiot leaders drop the whole “modular warfare concept” and commit to producing 1 class of vessel and adding VLS cells to it to create a corvette.
So the Type 075 is basically filling the same niche as an American light carrier from WWII. Some were used to support beach landings while others were the flagships of hunter-killer groups.
075 is like Wasp class LHD

Or what kind of attack sub would an expert like you foresee for the next 30-40 years? Cheers from Spain, keep up your amazing work!!
Type 054A is about 4000 to and armed with 32 VLS, cheap to build and potent, the 1500 ton you mentioned is actually type 056 corvette, which they deploy on their coastline
A sub brief on the French Triomphant class SSBN, or the older Redoutable class, would be great.
Type 055 is beautiful.
颜值就是战斗力。
Type 55 destroyer has 112 VLS, not 128 but those are 'universal' VLS. They can house all kinds and sizes of missiles with some quad-packed.
I think the 128 total includes he Type 055's 16 dedicated box-launched ant-shipping missiles.
@@grahamstrouse1165There is no box-launched antiship missiles on 055
Yes, its 112, and each cell is at least 100mm wider than the mk41 cell, and also deeper, so it can fit much larger missiles.

All the 054 retired to coast guard, the current version is 054A and two new 054B are launched.

The photo of the planes taking off from the Fujian. Does EMALS leave the white cloud after launch.
I haven't seen that from videos of the Ford but from traditional steam catapults in action.
It's a painting. The Fujian doesn't have aircraft on it yet, other than possibly one mockup.
The Fujian definitely has EMALS. Only 3 compared to the 4 on Ford though
No white cloud, it ain't steam catapult.
It's not real.
Launching Aircrafts won't happen this early
China hasn't tested EMALS launch (planes) yet. At least not officially. So any video is likely fake or not from Fujian.
14:00 - I don't see why the PLAN would still equip any vessel with the YJ-83 by 2040, especially when more advanced YJ-12, YJ-18, & YJ-21 anti-ship missiles are already available today. A far more likely load out (especially if we're talking about near future specs) would exclude the YJ-83 in favor of variants of those latter models.
Must have have said wrong, they have YJ-18, and Yj-21 only the type 56 and 54 that have YJ-83.
There would be total 2 Fujian class carriers. The next gen Nuclear powered carrier is already under development.
Type 076 EMALS capable LHD is currently under construction. It's bigger than 075 and would mainly be used as drone/helicopter carrier but can launch manned fixed wing aircrafts too.
Rule Chintannia, Chintannia rule the waves.
Your Type003 Fujian CV photo is wrong.
Deck looks like the new 003 with flat top configuration, but the island is not 003 island, it's Liaoning Type001 island.
I can see a new "Iron bottom sound" coming in the future.
Only 6 075 by 2040? They will have 5 by end of this year
It's entirely possible that 075s will stop at 6 if production all switches to 076s
The maintenance of these carriers is a headache of it's own. So building a ton of them isn't the issue, keeping them in service for years without an active conflict is draining.
that sponsorship transition was slick
Numbers wrong on the frigates: there are already 40 054A and 50 056A as of today. That number may actually decrease if China has Taiwan by 2040, and start focusing more on long range missions versus within the first island chain. Additionally there are 076 (a 075 with a EMALS for large drones) and 054B in production.
Here are some things to watch for (and contingency plan for).
1… a 12000 foot floating runway assembled on location from 30 floating sections towed from the mainland. The locations are the shoals most of the way to Taiwan and the shoal midway between Taiwan and the Philippines. The 30 runway sections will be made unsinkable by hundreds of pylons pounded into the shoal directly below. The permanent runway will be completed in less than a month and will be expanded/fortified over time.
2… a network of low cost submersibles in littoral waters that are routinely replenished/recharged at sea from surface platforms (manned bouys which are also armed sensor platforms, or surface ships modified to recharge submersibles that lath to the hull underneath)
3… modifications to D55 that allow linking to a manned conventional sub which routinely docks to the hull underneath while still moving in order to recharge the sub batteries
4… a semi permanently docked sub hidden under a task force surface ship. Connected with power and a hatch which normally remains closed in case the surface ship is attacked. Such a sub designed to detach from the ship & launch very large missiles by poking its nose out of the sea while at 90 degrees vertical.
5… a new tactic … swarming attack drones released from submersibles or reusable cruise missiles. The small drones will do damage at key ship locations unless stopped. Stopping the drone swarm may deplete ship defenses, overwhelm ship defenses, distract ship defenses. The damage to key defense systems targeted using image recognition or a shaped charge aiming to penetrate a warhead inside a ship tube
Everything the Chinese do is looking for trouble, what evil people they are
I will be surprised if there are no surprises between now and then
I can't imagine how good US subs and drones will be by 2040
I cannot believe how badly we have allowed our shipbuilding capacity to atrophy. We have such great costal waters to take advantage of. NAS Almeda is well situated. But there are plenty of locations on the gulf and east cost that could handle more capacity as well.
I dont think U.S ever had huge civilian shipbuilding industry, back in the oceanliner era, most large oceanliner and cruise ships were built in Europe, and cargo ships were built in Europe, Japan and South Korea, and eventually moved to China. U.S shipyards mostly fulfils naval orders, which shrinkd significantly after cold war. On the other hand, China now fulfills 50% of the ship orders in the entire globe.
"Carrier Command 2" scenarios coming in the future???🤔
2:29 notice the rear of the ship. Just a little observation deck, essentially. Can't test jet engines out of that, can't deploy/recover small craft/drones, the best you'll get out of that is shitty observation or small arms capability.
2:36 Does that ship have the means to test rebuilt engines? That stern doesn't suggest it (to me). Does that mean, they don't?
That's a fake picture. 003 has EMALS so they won't be any steam. Also the bridge is totally wrong.
✌
2040? We do not have that much time.
How soon do you fire up the reactor on a new ship. I realize it must be launched first.
where are the 022?
If they all shoot all their missiles and guns all at once... We gonna be in trouble

Great info, but this sounds really ambitious. Any ideas/projections on how the reported faltering Chinese economy may affect all this? Just wondering what pressure a failing/slowing economy might put on their building and maintenance/upkeep/modification program(s).
The Chinese economy isn't really faltering, but it could in the future. The same is true of our (U.S.) economy. I think it's in our best interest to assume that the Chinese will be able to produce and advance consistently. China is currently building 2 new Type 003 CV, it will be completed in the next 2-3 years. If they keep up this rate, by 2040, they will have 20+ CVs. However, do they even need that many? Probably best to invest in nuclear subs.
Leave these white elephants to the US navy.
It looks like the situation when USSR building more and more nuke subs in the 1980s.
However, it can not arrange the repair for the existing fleet now.
If that picture is correct of the Type003 carrier. Looks to me like it has a steam catapult instead of the EMALS.

You look at the T56 and T54 that they use as offshore patrol vessels and then the Royal Navy sends HMS Spey to the Pacific. Honestly I don't think our government has a clue.
I think we can safely say the situation is sub-optimal, but much depends on what they really end up building. China is in an interesting place just now.
U know whats funny, most of these warships are interchangeable with one another they all possess anti air and anti ship and even anti sub capabilities to a certain extend with some ships specialising in an area but at the end of the day all ships have a certain amount of anti ship and anti air firepower except the smallest Corvettes.
Even if u only have frigates and light cruisers they are still useful

For me, a big question is whether China can maintain the sophisticated equipment it develops?
It's a combination of that and how well they can develop doctrines and build useful combat experience while continuing a ~50 year run of not being at war.
Why would they not?
Do you believe they develop a stealth fighter and parking it in a shed?
You are right.
The PLA only builds these ships to fish.

In order to make their big play for Taiwan, they're going to have to develop a lot of institutional experience with smaller actions first.
What smaller actions would be possible short of a shooting war? Now, the PLN keeps busy harassing Phillipine fishing boats and violating Taiwanese airspace in conjunction with the PLA. Maybe some of their new allies such as Kiribati or the Solomons would permit themselves to be invaded. New Guinea is much larger and perhaps would be a better test. I'm spitballing because nations the size of China rarely undertake smaller actions unless it is participation of some kind in a proxy war, something China has not attempted since backing the Kim dynasty in North Korea during the Korean War over 70 years ago.

That's assuming imminent invasion is still on Xi's bucket list. He's more belligerent than his predecessors but XI isn't stupid & he's spent the last couple years watching Putin's ruinous war in Ukraine. Russia's lost most of its industrial capacity, along with the bulk of its oil & gas export market & they burned through a generation of young men & most of their non-nuclear military stockpiles. Putin also made himself into Iran's, North Korea's (and China's.) An invasion of Taiwan would be ruinously destructive for both countries & would have a devastating impact on the Chinese economy. Besides, China has a brand new bitch now with loads of mineral resources, the world's largest freshwater lake (something China desperately needs) AND tens of thousands of young war widows. who could help China deal with its population problem (whether they want to or not.) Also, Taiwan's arming itself to the teeth with anti-access weapons with enough range to do some serious damage to vital infrastructure in China's South. And that includes the Three Gorges Dam. China wont invade because they are trapped in a catch 22. China wants to expand global influence but cant if they invade Taiwan due to sanctions. Despite what people online have said, Taiwan will never separate. Even though the PPP technically won the presidential election, the parliament is split and they had less votes than last election.
And china also isnt ready, according to news reports, China has stated that they aim to build more than 800 J-20s and 1000+ J-35s. China has also struggled to recruit enough people to fill the billets, despite China's massive population there are surprisingly few with a STEM degree, perfect vision, physically-fit, and willing to serve.

谁能解释一下为什么欧美一边说我们是崩溃中的纸老虎一边说我们是威胁?
Nice summery, but I have to have a quibble about your hypothesis at the 5 minute mark. The pair of CFR-600 reactors China is building are commercial power plants. And commercial power plants are really quite bad at making nuclear weapon material, even the fast breeder type. All indications are that they're just building the CFR-600's as part of their plan to wildly over do and try everything possible with regards to nuclear power; as they're just one of several exotic types of reactor China currently has under construction. So it seems obvious that China is just including a few sodium fast breeder reactors, as these are, because that type of reactor has always been popular in the West and China is just a big copy cat.
As far as the weapon production fears go, it's important to remember that China has purpose built weapon plutonium production reactors that are far more capable then these new reactors ever be, and has had them for years. Such are the advantages of specialization. Also, China no long takes part in many of the the world's weapon tracking and reporting agreements. So even if there were some nefarious plan to get weapon material from these or some of their other modern reactors, it'd be a situation that'd change nothing at all.
So there's little reason for the extra paranoia.
I think we need to focus on speed of manafacturing and the mass we an put out. If they pay their workers less and force these ships out then we in the west need to use automation, AI and the like, which is what we do best, to match or nearly match their output.
I don't think the United States or China can do what the other can't at this point. It's mostly a matter of will.
The Chinese are already investing in AI and robotics in their manufacturing.
LOL. . Part of thier amazing manufacturing capacity is due to their mass adaption of robotics. If anything they are far more advanced in robotics than us.

Good video.
But something I thought you omitted and I then went to look at was the Auxiliary Fleet.
Logistics is after all the thing that lets you win a war, not just on land, but also at sea. However it does indeed seem that China currently has no plans for the PLAN to expand its major Auxiliary Fleet assets.
Someone who is more knowledgeable than myself can probably explain why that is.
You only need support ships if you operate far from your ports. China does not appear to have the ambitions to fight wars across oceans.
One might argue, that Auxiliary Fleet assets can much more easily be created
by modifying civilian ships than dedicated warships and the CCP isn't exactly
screamish about confiscating things when it wants something.
Letting civilians build & maintain those ships and then just take them for free
when you need them seems like a much cheaper, easier and more communist plan
than spending "The Party's money" on an expensive aux fleet.
@@HauntedXXXPancake Alternatively, civilian shipyards can more easily make Auxiliary Fleet assets, as those can be built to only a civilian rather than military standard of engineering.
