Hi Diane; Thank you for visiting FFV and for commenting. That historic site was one of the most interesting we visited, We drove in a roundabout way to reach the heights of the horizontal mining levels. great view from up there. I hope that the images brought back some good memories for you. James.
Hi Kelvin; Nice to hear from you once more. And soooo many emoticons lol. Love them. Thanks for all those. I am happy that you liked this video. I hope that it gave you a sense of what we experienced at Dinorwig. I think that you might really enjoy looking at the videos in the links because there is some very neat vintage footage from way back which shows the narrow gauge action.
Here's a random thought. How many channels are named after track components ? maybe 2 ?? lol ok ok, I wasn't very busy on the day that occurred to me. cheers.

Hi, great video! however at 4:19 you mention that the workers went on holiday in july 1959, it was actually 10 years later in 1969 when the quarry closed, also if I remember correctly back then the holiday would have been more like a few days, not weeks. I dont mean this to be rude in any way, just thought i would let you know.
Thank you for commenting. You are likely correct; perhaps I made a typo mistake, or possibly my sources were incorrect. At any rate I do appreciate that you took the time to set the facts straight. Given the name of your own channel I assume that you are a big fan of this type of tiny loco and even possibly live in that area so as to be to appreciate them first hand. Since our visit to Wales several years ago so am also a fan of them.. Stay safe my friend and thank for visiting Frog And Flange. Cheers, James.
@@FrogandFlangeVideo Hi, thanks for the reply, unfortunately I no longer live in Llanberis due to work and family however its still where I call home and belong, I try to get back once or twice a month at least and should hopefully be able to move back soon. and yes I'm very fond of the quarry hunslets and have built a selection of them in model form. Definitely my favourite place to be thats for sure. thanks
Well you lived in a gorgeous area. My wife and I were blown away by the scenery there. We drove from the far south of Wales to the far north of Wales on a route that took us along the mountain tops. I was especially amazed by the National Slate Museum at Llanberis. To see all those line shaft driven workshops was awesome. I would like very much to have seen the miners' hospital there but my research was a tad defective and we missed it. Ontario is a bit dull by comparison - no mountains, no Hunslets. We do, however, have some remarkably large freight trains by UK standards. Stay safe mate. James/FFV.
@@FrogandFlangeVideo yes it is indeed a lovely area, there was a quarry hunslet in the Ontario science museum until a few years ago when it was repatriated, she is called Winifred, sadly she was sectioned to show how a steam locomotive works leaving any chance of restoration looking unlikely. but still great that she wasn't scrapped
It is a very interesting place to visit. Makes you think about the conditions they worked in. I had a go at the slate splitting.

The water wheel was what powered the place rather than a steam engine
That is it exactly. The wheel was very impressive. Thank you for your observation. James. FFV.
