This channel will share with you the railroad videos that I have enjoyed recording. Most of these will be based in and around Ontario Canada where I live.
Inspiration for what I do is partly based on watching the excellent video productions of the very many talented video makers in North America, in India, in the UK and in Europe.
Canada has two principle nationwide railway companies. Both the Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway provide Canada with coast to coast freight service. CNR has significant operations in the USA down to tidewater at the Gulf of Mexico. CPR ‘s USA operations cover the northern states and extend from Maine to New York City and more.
I hope that you enjoy viewing the videos that are presented in this channel.

Hi James, Happy New Year to you and your family. Great series at Snider West, the all EMD consist & doublestack meet are sweet catches. I was past Mac Yard today ( work related ) and only thing moving was the Switcher moving AIM scrap gons around. Looks like I will have to make a trip here on my own time. Thank you for sharing ( Rick )
Hi Rick. Thank you very much. As always, it is great to hear from you. I wish you and your family all the best for good health and the best of times this new year. Maybe I'll run into you there sometime. lol. cheers. James.
Hello James, The encounter between the two CN Intermodal container trains was filmed fantastically. Thank you for the video, I wish you and your family a happy, healthy and successful New Year 2025. Best wishes to Canada. Wolfgang
Hallo Wolfgang. Vielen Dank. Bleiben Sie gesund, mein Freund. James

Hello James, the CN freight train crossing the bridge was beautifully filmed. I wish you and your family a lovely Christmas and a lovely and peaceful Christmas Eve. Best wishes, Wolfgang
Grüße an dich, Wolfgang. James.
Hello James, a very nice video with lots of CN freight trains, great shots, only the drone shots occasionally had a little bit of shaking in the picture. An excellent filming location to film lots of trains. Thank you for the great video and a merry and blessed Christmas to you and your family. Best wishes Wolfgang
Grüße an dich, Wolfgang. James.
I wander that area alot.. I go along the tracks on the North side heading to the park and then the reserve area that follows.
I do like the big sweeping curve that leads to the bridge. I think I have a video that features 502 making the approach to the bridge through that curve.
I like it.. TY for posting and sharing
Thank you my friend. I appreciate it. Stay safe. James.
Another great video, from my neck of the woods! Thanks for sharing James!
Hi George. Thank you for the kind comment. And it is great to hear from you once more. Hopefully we can get together next year when some milder weather returns. Stay safe. James.

Can you go to New Jersey and find out what's happening. Drones scouting out drones.
Hello, Ron. lol-maybe I should do that. It is a curious story for sure. It was making the news big time here in Ontario. The USA intelligence service (was it FBI or CIA) discounted the flights as being a danger. What do you make of it ? James.
@@RonStanek thanks my friend
I'm not familiar with the CN Payne's hub bridge. I was born in St. Thomas and I did not realize those areas were so heavily forested. There were (at one time in the 70s) three rail lines running through my family's ancestral farm in Elgin. Ten trains a day, and at least 3 during the night in those days. St. Thomas calls itself the Railway City, yet I have never seen a CN locomotive there in the last 30 years.
Hi John. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. I believe that two of the three bridges are still standing, and used almost daily. Those must have been the good days for railroad action. CN comes down the Talbot Spur from London almost daily to pickup auto frames. Stay safe. James.
Awesome Video 🚂🚂🛤
Hi Nick. Thanks very much my friend. James.
Hello James, excellently filmed, the crossing of the CN freight train over the bridge. Kind regards Wolfgang
Hallo Wolfgang. Und Grüße nach Deutschland. Danke, mein Freund. Pass auf dich auf. James.
Hello James The three passenger trains from Amtrak, VIA Rail and the Metro train are very interesting. The CN freight trains are very nice. Thank you for the fantastic video and have a lovely Advent season. Best wishes, Wolfgang. (I'm doing well at the moment and I hope that the third therapy will make it even better)
Vielen Dank, mein Freund.
Another spot that I want to check out one day, great video James
Thanks James B. If you ever get out this way I'd be glad to meet you there. James S.
Whats the story on that 2nd unit ? Did CN purchase it? It kinda looks like a CP heritage
Correct. They were part of a fleet of leasers that CN bought but did not repaint into CN livery.
Hi daveyboy. If you look at this page of the web site Canadian National Railway Locomotive at the link you will see the various ex-CREX locos that CN bought. www.solrs.ca/0__Locomotives/CN/CN__Locomotives_3913-3987.htm James.
Very cool James, fantastic views and action, great presentation and share! Have a wonderful weekend! (Dave).

Love the fact that H1 BNSF GP38-2 is FAR from home lol
Hi Will. Thanks for your comment. James.
@FrogandFlangeVideo you're welcome, James
Awesome James. I have always liked this track through Waterloo Square, but only operating at night makes it difficult to catch CN . I am surprised as well that CN hasn't forced these customers to truck. A lot of times they run to Elmira with only 2 cars. But I have seen other videos lately with a centrebeam load of lumber, so perhaps Home Hardware has resumed rail service. Thanks for sharing ( Rick )
Hi Rick. It does seek like the traffic on the spur is fairly light . Google Earth seems to show no rail spur going into the Home Hardware lot, although there is track leading to their property line ( though it seems to be full of WCRR stored cars ). In fact, from the air it appears that the former tracks inside the HH lot may have been paved over. But it makes me curious about where the lumber was going. Maybe someone will jump this thread and comment. Thanks very much Rick. James.
@@mandcsdad1 any lumber cars going up this line would be destined to Fairway Lumber in St Jacobs. They’re switch points face south so it’ll be the last switch of the night if a fairway car comes online and they’re small spur is between the King St crossing when you first enter st Jacobs from Waterloo and Henry st -Room for 2 centerbeams. Was a somewhat frequent rail shipper when GEXR was still here being done about 2-3 times/month but since CN came back they’re traffic has gotten much more sporadic, down to less than once a month now. -Home Hardware was once customer for this line in the early GEXR days but short lived: when WCR came to town their Spur was then severed from Home Hardware’s property and new rail bumper added so going forward WCR just uses what was the Home Hardware spur off the main to store equipment
@@NscalefromOntario Thank you for the info ( Rick )
Great video, James! It's very interesting that these tracks run at street level and are used by light rail as well as by freight trains. Best regards from Hamburg. Dirk
Hallo Dirk. James.

Incredible footage James!! Regarding your question at the end for when it operates: CN 566 generally operates 4-5 nights/week being Mon-Friday nights on duty at 2200 in Kitchener at the Lancaster yd. Very rare for them to ever go up on a Sat or Sunday night and regarding the restrictions I’m pretty sure it’s 2300 until 0500 actually (one more hr than you specified). Was a good thing for the 566 crew before the Lanxess plant got the switching contract with WCR as it gave em one extra hr to get the stuff done. Nowadays there’s a lot less switching required for 566 -Of curiosity which camera did you for your still tripod shot? Contemplating getting something better than a phone camera soon because as good as iphone camera’s themselves have gotten, the zoom still loses its focus a little when I zoom in compared to if it were something else I can buy at Henry’s like a Canon or Sony lol.
Hello Graydon. Great to hear from you, and thank you so much for really kind comment. I sincerely appreciate that. And thanks also for the scheduling information for 566. This was my first experience with 566 and my information was not complete (although I think the conductor gave me the schedule info). Hopefully some viewers will be able to benefit by your comment. About the camera: Ground Cam- I was using a Sony cinema camera FX30 which I've had for few months and which I am still getting used to it at this point. Aerials- Mavic 2 Pro. Stay safe. James.
Hi Graydon. Question - would you have any idea what customer on the spur might be one to take a centrebeam of lumber ? See mandcsdad1's comment above. Thank you. James.
