Movies I know I’ve seen but just don’t recall a thing about them.
So why are they still in my collection ? I take a look and consider the reasons.
What movies have you got that you can’t remember ? Do you think they’re worth keeping ?

I used to record many films on TV, although I didn’t always get round to watching all of them. I would then decide if I wanted to purchase them on DVD and later Blu-Ray.
Now, I’m inclined to buy films on DVD or Blu-Ray - mostly cheaply - that I have not seen. I find navigating on streaming platforms rather tricky and reluctant to pay small sums of money to rent films. The big problem is it takes up a lot of space and the worry of not getting round to watching them all.

@@IanThomson-md5yx I donated a load of vhs to an 80s video store a few weeks back. A load of those were recorded from tv. Some I still hadn’t watched.

The return for some DVD's / Blurays can be quite miniscule. In those situations I've found they are the perfect depth to sit behind the ones I actually want to keep / display to stop them being pushed into the shelf. Don't know if that's my hoarder brain inventing reasons to keep them or not but it's definitely served a purpose.

@@PhillwithadoubleL I get that sentiment completely - If it didn't at least leave an impression, why keep it? Funny you mention the Billy, that's the one I'm referring to. A single case lying flat can put my OCD at ease.
I stopped collecting years ago making the switch to streaming but with the unreliability of what's available and the repetitiveness of their catalogues I've done a 180. I've also realised just how many movies aren't available or are expensive to rent / buy digitally so here I am now back into collecting.

The whole issue must be just a question of space Phill, did you buy the film with the story fresh in your mind? I’ve watched many films from my collection over the years that I’d forgotten the story but knew I did like it enough to pick it up at the time. We all have to question what fills the remaining shelf space in our homes and remove the lesser important titles but at some point the films you discard we’re important enough to buy at the time… (I am fortunate enough to have a dedicated movie room, so space isn’t an issue YET 😬) I completely get where your coming from and why you are thinning out your collection, I’m just playing devils advocate and throwing in a different perspective, there’s no right or wrong, it is all down to the individual and what keeps us happy. I have 1200 or so ratings on my imdb account, so a few movies have been watched. I once watched a horror movie that was on netflix. Then about six months later I bought it from a bluray sale. Started it and was like ”why is this familiar” until I remembered. didn’t even like it on the first watch so into the sell pile it went.
