I truly enjoy watching this couple. They both seem so honest and humble. As an added bonus it’s great to see the love and respect that they all have for each other. Completely rich in everything that’s really important in life.
In Michigan where you have nasty snows & winds your storm door is hinged on the OPPOSITE side as your solid entry door. This way you can stand be hind the winds hitting the storm door while unlocking & opening the solid entry door. This way the winds don't yank the storm door open/off its hinges while your hands are unlocking & opening the solid entry door. Or your hands are full of bags from the store.
You guys are awesome! My better half and I are doing the same thing. We basically just got really tired of paying inflated contractor prices for even the simplest of projects! We never had any issue with their labor charges . What we just frankly got angry with was contractors charging us twice if not more the MSRP for material and products! We didn't even mind them selling a little above wholesale prices as we understand. When they started selling twice or more above actual MSRP we just had to say no!! So that meant we had to do our own renovations and remodels. Its was scary at first but we are both retired and have plenty of time so we are just taking it slowly. We are learning so much and it has actually turned out to fun and rewarding at the end of the day. Thanks for all the tutalidge and for your precious time making videos that everyone can benefit from!!
for things like finding bits of metal like that, keep a decent sized magnet around and hang it off a rope. I am able to pull metal stuff out of my floor air conditioning ducts that way.
Just reading a few comment's. I understand why the door is opening into the living room. You are a very cute couple and enjoy working together. God Bless can't wait to see that helper. He is a cutey.
Well you made it look easy, the reason it was is because you have done the door first got it level and square. It’s all in the preparation! Next is drywall.. 😉 so happy you getting everything looking great. My favourite part is coming up with the exterior. Talk about making a change! That’s going to give a whole new look. Personally I’d do that before the decks. My reason is because you can do the siding without the deck in the way. Good luck and God bless
Well ! I guess the next two projects are going to 1, reconfigure the front deck/porch so you're not fighting against the left hand opening of the storm door, and 2, building a new deck/porch roof to keep rain/snow off of the front deck/porch!!
I totally agree just to bring up groceries will be a problem to get them in. The porch definitely has to be reconfigure. Love Sam and Angela though you're always so positive about everything you do.❤
@@sam-and-angela , I was wondering why you didn't put the hinges to the other side of the door. I see from other comments that it won't be an issue once you complete more projects.
@@sam-and-angela I figured you did. I knew you knew it wouldn't work well the way it is now unless, , ya had a plan! You guys are great designers! Can't wait to see your new place once ya get settled in! I'm so excited for ya so, I can imagine how excited you all are!
Another job crossed off the list. Congratulations. I am always taken aback by your beautiful view from the front of your house. It is a view worthy of all the work you are putting into the house.
first time seeing puddy cat so sweet. Love how Sam likes the noise when the storm closes ... on your list of things to do that is another one ticked off
That sound of sealing is EXACTLY why you should never slam either the inside door or storm door. I found out the hard way that you close doors gently and teach your kids to do the same. My nephew was in a hurry and slammed the inside door, which was a door with a window built in the 1900s,luckily I had safely glass installed because when he slammed the door both windows promptly disintegrated
Don't forget to hinge it on the opposite side of the front door! You don't want to have to try to fight the storm door hinging on the same side of the front door and walking around to open the front door! Had to get a friend out of a jam because he installed his storm door opening on same side as front door!
@Opy Brook It depends on how your steps/porch/deck is configured, if your having to open the storm door in such a way that you have to walk around it with your arms full of groceries or whatever, then it's a impending hazard, due to the fact that you have to go around the door instead of opening it and having a straight shot into the house! If the steps are straight forward, then it's not a problem, anyway thanks for sharing your comments 😊
I love how you're fixing up your little single-wide! I live in a double-wide and am saving up money to have some work done to it as well. I don't have Sam or Angela - I have Ray who can't/won't do any construction of any kind. Keep up the great work!
Just a tip for you Angela. If you wipe left to right (or right to left) on the inside and top to bottom on the outside you will know which side the streaks are on. Love you guys. Have a wonderful day!
I know. I know. It would be backwards. But it would be way more convenient for hinge to be on other side towards light. Easier to get inside from step side room wise. And also keep bugs towards outside of the storm door when you open it versus being able to fly right in at night when light is on. ChrisG
Lived in North Carolina for awhile. Wish I had found y’all back then. Would have hired you both in a heartbeat to do lots of stuff that I know you could have done for us. Keep it up,learning lots.
Another great video by the dynamic duo! Please keep creating that compelling and genuine content. Hope you and the family in TN made it safely through the heavy rains - We don't need any flood clean up videos!
Had a Storm door like that when moble home was new, but wind caught it, but in the winter it made our house so warm. Getting ready to replace our doors.
On my Storm door I put a safety Chain and spring on the top, just in case of high winds, that pull the door out of your hands, it saves the hinges and such !
Having put in many a storm door, you did a great job. It is nice to have someone reading the directions to you. Keep up the informative jobs. God Bless.
Yep the storm door prices are horrible. I replaced one and after almost four years later I wished I’d spent more on a better door and I bought a brand name. Still they are helpful for keeping the hot and cold air out. At least install is easier these days. I love watching the two of you I still here giggling, wish I had someone as great to work with the dogs give up after about five minutes of licking me when I’m on my knees .
Brings back recent memories of replacing our storm door which I used our Subaru Outback and a tow strap to remove the old door due to excessive caulking. We purchased a Larson storm door that looks exactly like yours but cost much more. Ours didn't even include a drill bit! What a scam! we didn't replace our regular door, but I had to add trim around the door just to get the new storm door on. I didn't go with brick molding as it wouldn't have worked.
Nice door & storm door 😉👏 Will you be building a new porch/deck with the steps on the other side? Seems as though it will be combersome now with the storm door opening towards the steps.
I love what you have done so far, I am tearing out my 1966 Holiday Rambler Camper. Fixing it up to move into, kids having a fit, but I don't care. LOL It's what I want to do, it's a little hard though, at my age! Blessings
Unless you're planning on building a larger, deeper front porch at some future date, it looks awkward coming up the stairs and having to inch past the front door before you can open the storm door. I would have put the hinges on the other side. But knowing you two, you've planned ahead!! OK, my bad, I DID comment before watching the very end of your video. At least I guessed right about you thinking ahead! (hangs head in embarrassment)!
Great Job and awesome couple. You 2 work together fantastically. I lived in a manufactured/mobile home in Alberta. As much as TV loves to paint a picture of them being an inferior product, my home was absolutely toasty in -40 degree weather.
I love the new doors they look really nice can’t wait to see that beef’nd deck / porch you are going to build, I just got a quote I need a new side door it’s the original house door and Lowe’s told me right at about 3k for tear out and rebuild and hang n that n this oh! And not including new lock set for the door or a new security screen door 😝 see ya on the next one. ✌🏽

And boy howdy, does it ever earn it's keep!! Thanks for the very useful info for us DIY warriors!! Have a blessed week!!
I'm surprised you didn't get a right side handle door to open and go in by left handle inner door. The deck is small to try and get in. Very nice doors and nice installs. Can't wait for new siding to be installed. A nice big deck to enjoy would be nice. I would live on it a lot. Blessings.
