  • Dr. Ginger Garner walks you through how to improve vocal, abdominal, and pelvic floor function through something called "The NAP" Meditation.
    N = Neutral larynx (a rigid one negatively impacts everything from gut health, breathing, core health, mood and pelvic floor and sexual function).
    A = Apposition (healthy position of the respiratory diaphragm)
    P = Pitching (sound is used to improve core health, vagal tone, and all of the things listed under "N")
    The more technical description for healthcare and fitness pros: This instructional video covers the three diaphragms, the laryngeal, respiratory, and pelvic diaphragms, their connection(s), and how to optimize pressurization via best evidence principles of anatomy, neuroscience, and physiology.
    The next step would be to learn TATD (transversus abdominis assisted thoraco-diaphragmatic) breath, which is a graded, task-dependent, fluid breath which utilizes the three diaphragms to build core stability and strength that is sustainable. You can find and practice that "umbrella breath" type on Dr. Garner's RUclips Channel.

    "Voice to pelvic floor connection", the most beautiful combination of words I have ever heard! Thank you, your work explains so many things in my life from voice, clogged nose, to pelvic issues and constipation. I practiced NAP in combination with some of your other videos and I feel so much better, like my actual self. Being a good father can be stressful and incredibly; was causing me constipation over the weekend while spending time with my family. I practiced NAP and those issues are gone! I can be fully present.

      Oh I am so glad the NAP helped! Thank you so much for taking the time to try it - and to report back on your experience with it!

    Yup, you're officially the best new thing that's happened to my wellness this year. The amount of "unrelated" areas that loosened up with the ribcage stretch... the connectivity is unreal.
    Great channel, thanks a bunch. 💜

      Hi there! Thanks for commenting - You can use the NAP during any yoga pose or exercise, or just do the exercise itself. You can spend as little as 2 minutes - or a few breath cycles - doing this in order to get benefits. When you buzz breathe at the end you have space between your back teeth and you are nose breathing. Hope this helps!

    My belly hardens when I breathe out. Is there another video I should do first?

      When someone struggles with breathing - both at the beginner and advanced levels, I recommend they start with this video first - ruclips.net/video/lPGGVpPKsso/видео.html
      From there the MTY basics playlist is a good start for anyone who struggles with breathing issues - ruclips.net/video/CwdsmoPsbA8/видео.html

    when i glide my larynx to the left there is a clicking, should i be worried?

    • @DrGingerGarner
      @DrGingerGarner  10 месяцев назад

      Gliding should always be painfree - and "click" free - however, there are people who have clicks - and they are benign (aka harmless). But, if you have a click and it's painful, or a new click, and/or it's associated with a lump/bumb/nodule in that area - the recommended advice is to get it checked out by your primary care doctor.
