For me, the SKX has an intangible charm that a lot of the newer Seikos don't, in my opinion. Maybe it's the higher price or the absurd number of "limited" editions, I don't know. But I liken my SKX to a comfortable pair of blue jeans that are perfectly broken-in, look good with everything, and are equally fitting for yard work AND dinner & a movie. Damn near perfect, imo (if ya don't mind a little Seiko Shuffle, once in a while 😉)
Great video of one of my fav in my collection. My 007 was the first watch I really connected with. It fit me perfectly and was tough enough for an everyday, everywhere watch. I loved it so much I purchased a 009 when learning Seiko was going to discontinue the SKX. I thought of upgrading the bracelet, crystal, bezel, but always opted to keep it as was..perfect. I have a Rolex, Breitling, but there is something very special about my Skx.
Skx made its name, rose and became an icon by itself while most of the seiko line ups that is now sought mostly were made famous by a famous person or appearances. Its original and its not a trying hard design. It has a soul and speaks to its owners. After owning a willard, a king turtle, king samurai, monster, tuna and sumos, hands down the sumo and samurai despite the love it gets from me personally does not come close to its simple beauty. Sumo hulk has the wow factor as it screams sub mariner which is still the best diver to beat despite being an old design.
My SKX was purchased for $180 from Long Island Watch and it was my first nice mechanical watch. Like you said the SKX is ISO certification, 200m, screw down crown, beautiful engraved case back with The Great Wave of Kanagawa. Newer 5kx replaces that special case back with a price of glass. I also love the jingly jangle super comfy bracelet that has made the skx loved by so many collectors. As to the 7s26 movement. So the newer ones hacks. Why would you ever need hacking on a highly inaccurate movement? Hate to break it to you but neither the 4R series nor 7S26 are accurate movements. So hacking is a moot point. Then there is the lack of hard winding feature of the movement. Do you feel that having to wind the movement 30 times is faster than shaking the watch 3 times to get the 7S26 movement with the “magic lever” started is easier ? Seriously?! Yes the newer watches may be prettier but so much has been lost.

Just picked up a 1997 SKX007J. Birth year watch for me. Love Seikos!
the 009 is faded to perfection
I have a SKX009 on a Strapcode 3D super oyster bracelet. Definitely one of my favorite all time watches in my collection.
Just recently picked up a new old stock SKX011J1 , own the SKX009K and the SSK003J Blueberry and love the SKX watch . So legendary and iconic.
I left my skx007 unmod and I love it.
All the skx models are really nice. I now own the skx 007j, 007k, 033j, and the 013j. love them all!

Can you give me the info for the company in New Jersey that does your mods? I looked in description and nothing there.
Just added the link in description. Thanks
@@ChrisMarshall1978007 got it. Thank you. Love the videos.
Where'd you get the ceramic bezel from? This is a better quality looking one.

Is the skx009j for sale?
Very similar taste, I daily my submariners but if cutting trees or farming the ranch I go with one of my SKXs . Subbed.
Awesome 😎 I’m also a huge supporter of the 2nd amendment
