I've retired and have lived in Costa Rica for six months. This is the best, fact filled video I've seen on moving to Costa Rica. I live in San Pedro, which has a great climate and has city conveniences. A neighborhood near where I live is Escalante. Try searching Google for: Escalante Costa Rica restaurants. In my experience, coming from San Francisco, housing is much less expensive and restaurants cost about the same. Farmers markets are great. To obtain residency I'd suggest contacting Outlier Legal Services here about three months before you arrive. I had no luck learning Spanish until I actually wanted to and was motivated, and then found a good, free app called DuoLingo that helped me learn the Spanish used for common situations. It's pretty nice in Costa Rica.

Not sure why, today more than ever, It bothers me when people say cost-a-rica and not coast-a-rica. It's always a long o in Spanish, never a short o. So, have a good day and study your Spanish vowels.

If you need help with Spanish nouns your definitely going to need help with Spanish verbs.
      Best regards!

Great information and video but you're not really getting to the core because I am moving and when you commit to move its on new percent or nothing I'm more or less went through all of Costa Rica and I feel port a menace is the place for me not for 2 minutes exactly going down to motto Paolo where backwash and can you see on the GoPro Bae is that where you know it's very same thing the waves aren't that good but it's easy to paddle out what are your thoughts on comparison safety-wise between Nicaragua and Costa Rica

Which countries have you lived in so far?
What are the bad points of those countries?
    Thanks for the videos.
You may want to read Sidewalks in the Jungle by Alfred Stites, very insightful for most of Latin America and Costa Rica in particular. Free to read if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Hello Franco, thank you for your comment, it is much appreciated!
I have only so far done research on these countries and none of them have yet been visited. To be honest, I made these videos mostly for my girlfriend, hoping that it would help her gain perspective of the countries she may be interested to live in, given that there are so many to choose from!!! Thought it would be more convenient for her if I lumped all the research into a video together with visual presentation added on top.
The roadmap is to later visit the countries we like and transition this channel more into a financially independent travel vlog, until we come to a concrete conclusion for where we want to live, but for now the format will be limited to how it is now.
I will take a look at your suggestion "Sidewalks in the Jungle". And as an added note, I will be starting some more videos on Asia and parts of Europe as well soon, that have come across our plate. They are quite time consuming to produce, so I'm keeping them at every 2 weeks or so.
