  • The town of Atenas, Costa Rica, is located only 35 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the capital city of San Jose. It offers the small-town countryside lifestyle for those that are looking for peace and tranquility. Join me in this video as I tour the town and surrounding areas of Atenas and visit some properties as reference for the type of living accommodations available in Atenas.
    The population of the area is around 20,300, and Atenas has become a haven for ex-pats from many different parts of the world. Known for its climate, Atenas is often referred to as "best climate" because of the temperature ranges from 68 F to 89 F year-round.
    For more information on the properties viewed, I am attaching the links below.

    Atenas is one of the aspirational places to live for us San Jose City dwellers. You forgot to mention its the site of a US university and also has the best chifrijo and salvadorian pupusas in the country next to each other (Yayos). Its also nested between highway 1 and 27 so the beach is less than 1 hr away I have done it in 30 min to Caldera port.

    ATENAS is certainly one of the top spots for expats to settle in Costa Rica. However, the prices for the homes are TOO EXPENSIVE - as are most houses in the country. KEEP IN MIND - you can RENT a decent (not luxury) home for around $500-$600 / month in the outskirts of Atenas and other mountainous zones. BETTER TO RENT THAN BUY - be warned ! It is REALLY DIFFICULT to sell homes in CR !

    Hi, I have been thinking about coming to Costa Rica for some time now. Possibly taking a trip this fall around September October to get a feel of the place. Check out the cost of everything how to transfer money etc et cetera. I wouldn't mind communicating with somebody who would give me a little insight. And tell me where to get started.Thank you Evan

    • @CostaRicaLaw
      @CostaRicaLaw  11 дней назад

      Hi Evan. That is the great approach come down rent a place for that time frame. Those months are during our rainy season and it will be much easier to find accommodations at lower cost. I would just start by selecting an area of the country where you want to spend some time. If you are interested in Atenas and Central Valley area or, Guanacaste Beaches, Southern Zone, Caribbean side and then locate an Airbnb in those areas. You could also stay in one place for 2 weeks and then check out another one and so forth to see which area of the country you like. Also the Airbnb hosts will be able to give you tips about the areas where you will stay. For example I just checked Atenas on Airbnb for September and you have 12 different options starting at $85 a night and up.

      I think you will find a mix of price ranges. Somer very expensive areas but also some areas are less expensive. Alot of depends on the particular area and the type of property you are looking for.

    Those look like "gringo" prices to me!

    • @CostaRicaLaw
      @CostaRicaLaw  2 года назад

      Thank you for watching and commenting. The area of Atenas has become very popular with "Gringos" and Europeans so they tend to purchase larger parcels of land with larger homes thus resulting in more expensive real estate. If you stay out of the popular expat areas in Atenas and out of the gated communities you can certainly find bargains in the more "tico" areas.

    • @CostaRicaLaw
      @CostaRicaLaw  3 года назад

      Thank you for commenting. We hare currently having a large influx of "Gringos" to the country in general. I notice that in the US the housing market is getting very competitive and expensive in some areas and the ones coming to Costa Rica are bringing some of that hype with them so we will probably be seeing higher gringo prices in the most popular expat areas of Costa Rica.
