- I took the kayak to Fishing Creek Reservoir in Lancaster, SC for some topwater action at the site of the old Springs Park Recreation Area where I caught some largemouth and stumbled upon some of the long-forgotten attractions. The Springs Park Access Area was once a recreational facility for employees of the Springs Textile Mills and at its height boasted an Olympic sized swimming pool, high dive boards, and a miniature steam locomotive ride for children. The recreation facilities closed in 1990, but the site is now open to the public as a boat launch facility.

That's my home fishing lake. It's never busy it's busiest days you'll see maybe 5 boats. I love that place you can go way up the river from there.
I’ve noticed it’s not very busy; however, I’m done with that place for this year. I’ve gone back a few times to try to update the videos I’ve made out there (because they’re old and not up to my standards anymore); however, I’ve totally skunked my last 3 outtings out there. That’s ridiculous. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but Fishing Creek and I need to take a break. Haha.

My family has so many stories of going to Springs Park. Always made me jealous that I never got to see it in it’s prime!

There’s a trail to those abandoned structures, but they’re on private property and marked with No Trespassing signs. I just started walking through the woods until I found them and didn’t see the signs or trail until I was on my way out. Oops.
How cool is that. Springs really tried to take care of their employees.
The informational sign attributed the cost of upkeep and the expansion of Carowinds as a competitor to its decline. I bet it was something to see in its prime.

Dude! I swam there as a kid on a church trip. It was awesome. One of the life guards lept from the top plat form and I swear he landed almost in the shallow end. That sh*t was hiiiigh!

If I could figure out a way to do this full time, I’d definitely do that. At the moment, I’m limited to locations +\- 2 hours from the house.

@@abidefishing I’m amazed you have a 12.5 boat. I tried one but about tipped over trying to get a drink out of a cooler that slid to the back. I had to try to climb over the seat to reach the back of the yak. I know you’re not typically one for pre fish, and I am a newbie to all these lakes and likely couldn’t be much help, but I’d you need a buddy for the next QC event let me know!

If this Fishing Creek flows from Catawba River, (Norman and Wiley), are there stripers in there?
I don’t know for a fact, but I would assume they’d be in there.
Yeah, yeah... now we see who’s bragging about catching 1 fish! I couldn’t get anything yesterday. I really need to hit some different waters. I may take u up on the feature soon. Next time I’m out I shall make it my quest lol. Not like it will take away from my fish catching 😂

Just send it on over and I’ll use it. Basically the format is “Hey, this is (your name) with (your channel). And now it’s time for (finger twirl) Tackle Round Up.” Doesn’t have to be exactly that, but you can play around with it to see what works. I haven’t gotten one in awhile and would like to start doing it again.

The original cut of that end section had this song playing...which gave it a very eery feel...with the flashbulbs of the old pictures throughout. Unfortunately it was copyright flagged, so I had to go without sound. It completely ruined the effect, but what can you do?
