    I think the issue of the flood protection is that it uses a passive radiator fin design, but there's also 2 big fans up the top to pull air across from below.
    It'll be interesting to see how it goes in 40'c, 50'c summer with derating and charging rates with the inbuilt battery, that is. if the PW stats allow pulling that temperature data from the Tesla Fleet APIs alongside the solar inverter MPPT's current/voltage levels to see if it's throttling power delivery in summer.

    How does PW3 compare to this new Sigenergy system. I heard that PW3 is really only suited for single phase houses, where as the Sigenergy is much better. Can you do a comparison?

    • @mjbates
      @mjbates 3 месяца назад +1

      I think the Sigenergy has a DC-DC option. If you want to be able to use your car to charge your home battery, nothing else is even close. If you want whole home backup and charge on solar, the Powerwall 3 is really incredible. I don't live in Australia, but I understand that going solar can be mostly free because of the incentives. DC has to be turned to AC at some point to power your house, and I think the Powerwall is the best option for nearly all homeowners.

    The problem is I can buy DEYE Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries with 8000 cycle Lithium Iron Phosphate cells which come in at $2000 for 14KW not Lithium Ion which comes in at 3000 cycles and with an IP 65 inverter from the same company 12KW it will cost me less than $4000 compared to Tesla which costs $11000 and Lithium Ion cells which don't compare to LFP cells

      Yeah, this price is ridiculous, I just got 15kwh Seplos kit for 1500GBP here, not ip rated with case I have, but cmon... I have ROI with it around 2y, with Tesla power wall is like 15, especially considering Tesla does not sell them directly and it should be installed by "professional" which adds another few grounds on top. Don't get me wrong, PW3 is fantastic product with its sw integrations and quality, but it is just doesn't make much financial sense.

    • @mcelectrical
      @mcelectrical  2 месяца назад +2

      Yeh you could get batteries cheaper. But package it up with a 10kW string inverter, BMS, functional app, vpp, warranty, reliability, safety, compliance with standards and grid requirements, and throw in a professional install, then you start to see the cost difference. A diy battery would likely be dangerous, but even if it wasn’t, it would be non- compliant.

Also that the Powerwall 3 battery must be mounted inside the garage next to the Tesla Powerwall 3 (1P 10KW Inverter) & Backup Gateway 2.

    So the Tesla Powerwall 3 ist just 1phase 4,6 kW Inverter with 13,5 kWh Battery?
    For the prices i found you could get a simular or better Fronius + BYD System.
    Also i wonder what happens when somthing breaks after warranty - do you need to buy a new Powerwall?

    • @markcavanagh
      @markcavanagh 3 месяца назад

      It’s a 10kw single phase inverter. It’s similar to the Fronius BYD cost, but the BYD solution is probably a bit more difficult to install, so total cost might be a bit more from BYD. But the features of the PW3 are significantly better - eg the user interface, discharge capability, footprint, flood proof, all in one warranty etc.

    Tesla doesn't make good inverters. I've got a PW2 and a Fronius Gen 24 inverter and while connected to the grid they're fine as the grid keeps the sinewave clean. However, when running off-grid, the Fronius puts out the cleanest sinewave you'll ever see, but when the sun sets and the PW kicks in, it's a jagged looking sinewave and my TV doesn't like it.

Have you had the opposite experience with Sungrow?

    • @Funkymaddox
      @Funkymaddox 3 месяца назад

      @@mcelectrical I hope we will not make a bad experience with the new System from Sungrow (ordered). Due to the 180 Systems you mentioned, i think most of them were old SHXXRT and old SBR Battery series, not the new ones. Never heard about problems from users so far. If you want to stay in one ecosystem with all restrictions fronius is great, but we want to use "EVCC" or "CleverPV" EMS with a 3rd party Wallbox for way more options, customisation & home automatisation. And its a bummer if you have 20+kwp + 3 Strings on your roof and no suitable fronius hybrid inverter. If they had "bigger" Inverters maybe we would've chosen fronius.
