DIY : EASY MACRAME WALLHANGING FOR BEGINNERS | STEP BY STEP MACRAME TUTORIAL | 30 MINUTE WALLHANGING

  • Hi guys & welcome back! Im happy to show you how to create this beautiful geometric macrame wallhanging. This is a simple, step by step tutorial using only 2 beginners knots, the Larks Head, Square Knot and going into Alternating Square Knots. I've done my best to create this for any skill level including those who have never tried macrame before.
If you help with any knots: • HOW TO: 7 MUST KNOW Ma...
In total, this entire wallhanging only took me 21 minutes to knot, but I know I may be faster than some just starting out, so I estimate the knots should take around 30 minutes (maybe less) for most. Please make sure to watch and listen the whole way through so you can properly understand the instructions.
*PLEASE NOTE** it’s always a good idea to cut a few extra inches to make room incase your knots are not as tight as these, or you are using a thicker or 3ply etc.
In this video I used 120 feet/37meters of 4.5mm braided cotton air rope from Ganxxet cut into 14 ropes as follows:
    2 x 60in/155cm
    2 x 75in/190cm
    2 x 90in/230cm
    2 x 105in/265cm
    2 x 115in/292cm
    2 x 130in/330cm
    2 x 145 in/370cm
    -Wooden dowel is 12inches.
Please know that you can use whatever cords you would like!
The lovely ladies at Ganxxet are offering my subscribers a 10% discount site wide, (one time use so stock up!) just use code: soulfulnotions at check out and make sure to hit that subscribe button!

I searched for months for just the right macrame wall hanging pattern to make for my daughter, and this was IT! The pattern worked up pretty quickly and your instructions were excellent. I wish I could upload a picture of the finished product -- I used a smaller cord so I did this exact pattern in the middle and then two smaller "diamond" lengths on the side. It was a lot of fun! Thank you for posting these instructions!

Thank you, I’m so happy it turned out well for you! Basically if you plan on doing one double the size and do twice as many knots, you will double the lengths I’d assume! I’ve never made this double the size so I can’t give exact measurements unfortunately:) Hope this helps!

I just made my first one and it came out amazing. I would like to make it double the width. Would I just double the amount of cords for each length? So instead of 2 I would do 4? Or would the extra cords need to be different lengths like between the 60" and 75" for instance.

If I wanted it to be multi color which cords would be best to use as the different color? Or would that just look weird?

i definitely want to try this. i just need clarification please. when you say cut cords at 2 X 60in etc do you mean one cord folded to 60in length total or one single cord at 60in length(folded would be 30in)? any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi there, I have just finished cutting my cords to your measurements. However I’m confused where the 14th piece comes in? You have two of each length and six measurements. How long should the last two pieces be? I’m so excited to start this beautiful piece xx

    • @soulfulnotions2648

That’s my fault!!! The cords are as explained in the video, there should be 14 in total. I apologize it was one of my first wallhanging videos and I made a mistake! It explains the lengths and order in the beginning where it’s just hung from larks head knots! My apologies!
