Just bought the iO9. Couldn’t justify the extra $150 for the charger on the 10. It’s a big upgrade from my Braun that I left on the side of my truck when I left town. Thx for the video!
My life changed finding these reviews. The io9 is on offer currently sometimes better value than lesser models. Like we have a dual pack black and white for £270 in uk
The IO 9's stand charging cable is like 1 and a half longer than the one of the IO 10's. This resulted of me not being able to see the lights on the IO 10's IO Sense smart charger cuz I had to put it up on my bathroom shelf ... so logical Oral-B ... 🙄
@@ElectricTeeth So I've used the io 9 for a bit. I LOVE it. I just got braces and the interdental head is great for doing closer brushing on, around brackets, and under the wire between teeth.

Hi very very excellent video thanks you just what to ask you I have oral-b i0 9 series toothbrush and I bought original genuine toothbrush head when I fitted there is a Gap between the toothbrush head and the handle? Why is this ? Or is it supposed to be like that ? Please kindly let me know waiting for your reply Thankyou
I have been a little jaded on these high end toothbrushes. I have a Phillips prestige 9900, which was or is one of the top models they sell. My issue is that after just 14 months of use, the battery is going in that is giving me 4 maybe 5 brushes before it starts warning that the battery is going to die. Thing is, you would think Phillips would offer an out of warranty battery replacement service, at cost to me of course as I’m realistic that batteries don’t last forever. Nope! They want me to dispose of the whole tooth brush and sell new a new handle (toothbrush without head) full price! Never again. Wonder if Braun offer such a service, because I’m telling you, the battery in this toothbrush will be the same, and will need to be replaced after your warranty has expired! The prices both companies charge for these units, you would think they would be more helpful with after sales support , but no…. Completely new toothbrush. If I had all my electronics bench and a soldering iron, you can buy an upgraded battery for £20. But I neither have the steady hands, nor the equipment to do the job.
Thanks for sharing. I am really surprised Philips won't offer battery replacement/support if that is the battery life you are getting after 14 months of use. Have you challenged this or been given any reason as to why they won't replace it?
@@ElectricTeeth Ok, so when I contacted their support agent, gave them my serial number of the toothbrush and purchase date. They came back and simply said as it’s out of warranty, they cannot offer any further support. I think in their eyes, any work even though it’s a battery change, would be a warranty job. The support agent said as it’s a consumable just like the heads, they fail/wear over time. I have a Philips head groomer which is quite new, and even the battery on that is rubbish compared to the model it replaced. Always seems to need a recharge. Phillips have sold of much of their consumer electronics businesses, and since then, the quality is slipping. As I mentioned, its put me off getting another Phillips, let alone a decent electric brush the one of the i series from oral b. Buti don’t know how long I can handle recharging my brush every four to five brushes. I can’t go back to manual, now i have experienced electric for the last 7 years. My teeth do really feel way cleaner! Cheers.
@@ElectricTeeth Update: I had it out with Philips support and said that the batteries are failing earlier than normal on that model. They put me on hold and came back and said that they will replace the toothbrush as a “good will gesture”. Goes to show that perseverance does pay off! I have a question, I bought the iO series 5, but now I want the series 6 due to the mode and the screen. Should I buy the IO series 6? And if so, what do I do with the series 5?
I don't think it is worth upgrading/changing. You are not going to get any better cleaning results. If you are set on changing you cold look to sell the iO5 or perhaps give to family member or friend.
Hello! First of all thank you for the videos! I had the genius 20000 and all of a sudden it stopped after the two years of course. Really gutted about that that I was determined not to invest ever again on a toothbrush… BUT my teeth are not as clean anymore as when I had the expensive gadget as now that I have a cheap electric one. So here in Greece there are 2 io 9 for 220€. Do you have enough time by any chance or will it stop once again after the 2 year threshold? I really need back my clean teeth. Thank you 🦷
Sorry to read it has failed just after 2 years. I can't make any guarantee, but as a general rule you can expect an electric brush to last upwards of 5 years. I'm not sure if you use the smart/Bluetooth features of your Genius, but you can save a lot by opting for a model without the Bluetooth connectivity.
That is weird. I have my genius 900 for 7 years already. Only thing is I need to charge it more often. Hope that the new one will last for many more years
Hello. I have been trying to figure out which to buy whilst I have an offer code. I can get a duo pack of the 6 for 160 euros (though, technically only need 1), the io10 for 251 euro or the 9 for 223 euro. Is the 9/10 really better than 6 if you take out the 3d tracking? Thanks!
Go for the iO6. Yes, the 3D tracking can be useful, if you are really committed. But, you can save a lot of money by going for the iO6. And an hour or 2 spent perfecting your brushing routine (for free) is achievable.
I don't know the exact reasons I am afraid. The last time I received communication they suggested they were 'making improvements' but I am not sure what this really means given it is available elsewhere. Just a theory, but it could have something to do with the cost of producing the product. Development was during COVID etc and potentially a high cost to make these. Perhaps waiting allows to bring production costs and in tern selling price down.
I wouldn’t use mouthwash, certainly not as part of your regular dental routine. It’s bad for your health. It kills the good bacteria in your mouth as well as the bad. Brushing and flossing should be enough. You could even use salt water occasionally your rinse your mouth if you want.
Hello, someone know about how many percentage of the battery consume each use the oral b io 9? I have it but it consume me 6 or 5% each time l use, I just want to know if it’s normal or no?
Hmm perhaps a bit high, but percentages are just a guide and depends on how long you are brushing for. The battery life of the iO9 is about 2 weeks based on 2, 2 minute cleans per day. So technically that is about 3.6% per use. But the battery performance isn't always the best so, a bit higher is possible.
the wierd part is that the io 9 in the white color is 150 dollars more expensive then the black io 9. so i just bought the white io 10 for almost the same price
Ha I was just teasing buddy. It’s a stereotype I have heard a lot, probably from people who have never been to Canada. Wouldn’t mind a trip there myself, but this time it’s not health, but money that prevents me. But there you go. Enjoy your time there.
Arguably yes. The iO Sense charging stand is more useful to many than the stand supplied with the iO9. But, it is only worth a small premium over the iO9. Normally the iO9 is much cheaper than the 10, so it is a more sensible purchase.
It depends on your location, but they usually have a different box contents. Technically the brushes should be the same, but one might come supplied with more or less brush heads or different brush heads for example.

I hate the dots design on IO 10. Looks dirty (toothpaste little droplets) . What was design team thinking, what’s wrong with plain black.
6x20 seconds & 4x30 seconds both are 2 minutes. However, 6x20 seconds makes brushing time feel quicker due to the pacer running quicker.
