Correction: IO8 has 6 cleaning modes. it is only missing tongue clean
Whoops. You are right. Well spotted!
Wonder who actually uses these.
You covered the differences better than Oral-B, Good Job!
When looked at their page, I noticed they don't wanna give me information. They just wanna shove their adspeech down my throat.
Perhaps what you should expect ( its a toothbrush after all) , but still...
I don't wanna reward that kind of communication.
Goddamn cyberpunk dystopia, can't we go back to the ads and corporate communication of the steampunk retrofuture?
Sure, they'd sell you radium toothpaste, but at least they'd proudly tell you WHAT they offer.
These days, they have 20 animations with zero information beyond: "our most expensive product is the best on the market, look, we bought 10 people to tell you so! Sure , we have more, but good luck finding them on our site.
Go to hell, advertising. Tell information to come back.
On a more positive note, thanks a lot for this video!
Right 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@nos9784 so true and then 500 bucks for a toothbrush, insane
As a dental hygienist, I want to thank you for taking the time to explain the differences. I just was given the I.O. 9 for free, but I wanted to know what works best for my patients. Most do not care about all the extra bells and whistles. They just want to an electric brush that cleans well. Seems they all clean very well, and the price point is just the bells and whistles.
Glad I could help. I would be very interested to know what you think about the brush once you have had time to use it.
@ElectricTeeth So far its only been 2 days, but I'm impressed! I've used other electric brushes such as Sonicare, Burst, Sustainable Tomorrow (which I tried because I like the idea of bamboo brush heads-more eco friendly), and older Oral B models. Out of all of them, my teeth definitely feel the most clean with the new I.O. Now I just hope the battery lasts a minimum of 5 years, given the high price. We shall see.
@@sallyj632the battery’s is also a lot easier to replace in the IO series
The amount of models and differences between them is just as bad as the iPhone! Oral B made this way more complicated than it needed to be. They could easily narrow this down to no more than 3-4 models and save us all the confusion as the differences between most of these are negligible.
Thanks for making this video to clear up a lot of the confusion. Very thorough and ended my search fast.
Totally agree with you.
Glad you found it helpful.
To my recollection, there are only like 4 iPhone models per year-standard, Max (formerly Mini), Pro, and Pro max. So there are twice as many Oral-B iO models, which is definitely ridiculous.
Wrong take.
In your mindset, you could have 2-3 toothbrushes instead of this many, being of lesser performance and just as expensive as premium models.
People are lazy, that is everything.
I've always liked Oral-B toothbrushes, they're good products. But the almost arbitrary 'tiers' are just ridiculous and clearly invented to try and lure people to more expensive models without that resulting in better brushed teeth. The technology behind all these models is the same - magnetic propulsion - however, the box covers on the cheaper models (6 and lower) don't mention that which is just plain misleading. Then from model 6 to 7 you get a color screen... ummm... OK, how useful! 16 Artificial Intelligence Zones with bluetooth app support? Seriously? I learned to brush my teeth when I was a kid, I am perfectly capable of doing so without any 'AI' until I get demented or something. Magnetic charger vs non-magnetic charger, who cares as long as it charges? Fast charging? Brush teeth, put it back in the charger, done, who needs fast charging? 3 different modes or 7 different modes? I need 1 mode: the one that cleans my teeth. I very much doubt there is any scientific evidence that any mode is more effective than the other (provided that the minimum required oscillation to effectively clean teeth is there). I wouldn't be surprised if a future model 11 would include an extra mode to improve brain activity, I mean: whatever sells right? To top it off Oral-B makes it very difficult (if not impossible) to get a clear list of differences between the models, increasing my suspicion they want you in the dark and lure you to the expensive models. In the end, model 3 is therefore a no-brainer and will clean your teeth as well as a model 10, as the reviewer said (he just didn't make it a rant as much as I just did, my apologies, marketing nonsense really brings out the crazy in me 😁 😋)
I used to agree, but I have a child that needs help brushing (sensory issues, almost 10 years old). And I believe the io5 and up help a lot because of the tracking. Not sure how much of a difference the 9 and 10 with 16 zones would make but having zones at all is a big help. I've taught this child repeatedly how to brush but he struggles. For the average person, I agree that as long as you know how to properly brush, it's just marketing. But for a select few, the upgrades do help.
Wrong, backward take designed for basic users who don't want peak mouth-cleaning performance and care.
No one forces you to get anything above an iO3, but for the people who think of their cleaning as a life and death matter, the iO10 is the holy grail.
In one's life, not everything has to be barebones functional and lack any kind of character.
@@andreagreen1467I have autism and I have the io 9, it helps me be able to do it right.
@@YournansamanI have a normal Bluetooth one but I still don’t brush that long lol edit:I also have autism
Great comment I’m torn between 6-7 as one has standard charger vs new mag charger which new tech.
Appreciated the recommendations being upfront!
I have an i09 and the dentist noticed how much cleaner my teeth were. I love the mouth mapping. I tended to rush brushing my teeth pre this toothbrush but now I get much better coverage.
My hygienist told me id only use 2 speed modes so buy the basic one. I ignored her and bought the most expensive one. I only use the 2 speed modes
😂😂😂😂😂
HAHAH 😂 I appreciate your honesty.
😂 I only use 3 modes--Daily Clean, Sensitive, & Gum Care. I had to get the IO6 in order to get the Gum mode.
I rarely get cavities, but my gums have given me grief, so I need all the help I can get for them. TMI, sorry!
This video was amazingly comprehensive and well-presented. This month I've seen 200+ videos and this I chose to leave a comment AND a thumbs up. Seriously man, thank you.
Thank you very much. So pleased to read it helped. What have you opted for?
No-brainer for me! I just bought the iO 6 and I'm super happy about it! I highly recommend!
I actually had my sights set on the iO 7. But when I realized that the iO 6 toothbrush is the same, only quieter and cheaper (plus newer), it was quickly clear to me. I don't think the big price difference is worth it just because of the faster charging. All the other higher models, which are enormously more expensive, all have unnecessary extras for me (color display, etc.).
Thanks for sharing your feedback.
Thanks for making this video. I learned which model to purchase.
Thank you! Finding a full introduction video about Oral-B's Clan on Chinese social media is tough. I'm glad that you provided all the information I need! Thanks!
Such a great and informative video! Thank you for everything you do.
Thanks for watching, pleased you found it useful.
Very thorough review and comparisons. Thank you!
Glad you found it helpful.
I bought the io 5 N series. Its weird how hard i need to press for the pressure sensor becomes green. Way too hard for my feeling compared to sonicare.. i always thought to not use much force on electic since it does all the work for you
Incredibly good comparison. I guess I could sleep while listening to you and wake up knowing all things you said. You talk clearly and bring everything to a well summarized point.
If everyone would make such good (learning) videos, the world would be a much better place :) Keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words.
You always do the best toothbrush reviews! The much faster charging time of the io 7 definitely seems worth the extra cost (but man, are the replacement heads expensive for io brushes). Thank you for making sense of this crazily wide range of models!
Glad you like them! And yes, the heads are ridiculously expensive.
I feel like the only reason that iO exists is so that Oral-B can spend more expensive brushes that 3rd parties have yet to clone
Thank you so much! This is so helpful!
Thank you it is very useful. I think I will buy the IOS 6, currently on sale at 120 CAD (75 GBP) for Black Friday.
This was so helpful! Thank you!!
Thx for all.. ✨

Thank you for the indepth review, io9 it is!
I've asked you a bunch of questions throughout all of your other videos and I really appreciate all of your input. Thank you for that. I have decided on the Oral-B io5, but ive noticed two different io5s. What's better the io5 or the io5 Limited? It says io5 limited rechargeable, but I don't know what that means. Do you know the difference? I can't seem to find the answer.
As far as I know the only difference is the box contents. The iO5 limited comes with a brush head refill holder (essentially a little travel case for replacement brush heads). Technically and functionality wise the brush handles are the same.
@@ElectricTeeth Thank you.
I have a question about choosing an iO brush variant:
I am deciding between the iO 8 and iO 5 variants. I know what functions they have, but according to your video there is a difference in noise. iO 4/5/6/10 versions make less noise than iO 7/8/9. Why? Is it because the 7/8/9 are newer builds, so the technology is improved, or do they have a weaker engine?
My second and last question is if it is possible to turn off the page change notification after 30 seconds via the app. Thank you in advance for your reply and your informative video.
Hi. So, our testing revealed the iO 4/5/6/10 are quieter. The exact reasons I am not sure of. I suspect there might have been a modification in the design. These models are newer than the 7/8/9 that launched in 2020.
The brush motor is the same in all of them, so they produce the same power.
You can turn the 30 second pacing via the app.
@@ElectricTeeth Thank you very much for your quick and clear reply. So I'll probably rather buy the iO 5. Healthy teeth everyone! 🙂
Thanks for the helpful video.
Do you have any experience or information about the longevity of the battery for the Series 7-10 with the new fast chargers?
How much of their battery capacity do they sustain after 2 years or so? Do they still only need to be recharged about each 2 weeks after that time or does the recharge frequency increase significantly and they need to be recharged for example each week after reaching that age?
Whilst my iO9 is 3.5 years old now I don't have enough data to really make any accurate comments on the battery after 2 years. I'd say usable life is slightly worse but I couldn't give you an accurate measure without far more testing. All I can really say is that should the battery weaken and fail whilst Oral-B won't advise it, there are guides online to replace the battery fairly easily if you need to. A new battery isn't very expensive either. I tried it myself and it was really quite easy.
Thank you for the comprehensive review of the iO series brushes from Oral-B.
Hi! I see that there are also s and n versions ? I want to get the io 9 oral b but there is also an io 9s what are the differences? :)
It depends on your location but the difference is usually what is included in the box. Be that the brush head style or accessories. The toothbrush itself is usually technically identical.
Hi! Do you think there is much difference using the sensitive vs the sensitive + on the brushes that do have that option and if it is worth the upgrade in the IO toothbrushes 8-10? TIA
No I don't.
@@ElectricTeeth Thank you!
Thank you for this , it was very useful. Is worth paying the more for the heads of the IO models, in comparison to the pro series? Do the IO clean in a more silent/efficient way?
iO models are quieter. The cleaning sensation is slightly different. I've yet to see any data that suggest the cleaning from the iO is much better. The Pro range is definitely more cost effective.
Over the coming years, I suspect the Pro/older style will be phased out in preference for the iO, but tis will take some time.
I have had the iO for a 2-3 years now, probably the 6 or 7. It is far superior in my opinion to the Genius, much quieter and smoother. I have never changed the setting in 2-3 years so that doesn't concern me, but not talked about in the review, the toothbrush has a sensor around the neck of the brush that will change color based on the pressure being placed against the teeth. Blue is before any pressure in applied, green is the correct amount of pressure, and if you hit red, back off on the pressure, you are brushing too hard. Since many people brush way too hard, this is a phenomenal feature I strongly recommend for all!
My Philips Sonicare brush is broken as the battery won’t charge anymore after 2 years. Looking into oral B which lasts more than 2 years it seems
Hi Jon, I'm wondering if you can change the timer and pacer ⏲️ of the IO series 9 from 4x30 seconds to 6x20 seconds, which is better in my opinion ?
I have just checked. There is no option to change between 4 x 30 or 6 x 20 second options. This is using the latest version of the app on iOS.
@@ElectricTeeth The Oral B Genius 9000 allows a users to change the brush to 6 sections.
@@ElectricTeeth I'm using an Smart 7 and I plan to upgrade to an iO 5, and it does give an option to change to 6x20. I may be wrong but I believe this is standard in all bluetooth models.
question about the versions and limited editions like the sounder edition or io 8n or 8s something like that
Normally the colours of the handles or box contents are different. For example it may have a different brush head supplied or extra accessories.
Thank you!
Excellent précis et concis, merci
Hello, I wonder if the mobile application is all the same (all features) depending on the Oral-B Io 4 to 10? Thank you
For the most part yes. But, there are differences in some parts due to the fact the iO10 tracks 16 zones whereas the iO4 has no zone tracking.
Is the vibrating engine in all these IO models the same? Meaning, will they all give the same cleaning results?
Yes they are.
I have just got my first electric toothbrush after visiting my dentist last week. He gave me an Oral B card with discount on various models. He advised to get the iO series 4 as that was the cheapest on the card. It should have been£240 but I got it for £79, however I didn't realise it was a two prong plug so I have had to buy a two prong UK adapter plug so I can charge it up fully.
What about the iO 3s? Found it in a store today but I can’t find an info anywhere
I've yet to come across the iO3s. Normally the letter after the number just means something in the box is different. This might be the brush head or the accessories included. Usually the brush handle is the same in terms of features etc.
Do you have a link to a web listing? Product names and specifications can vary from one country to another.
Thanks for the content. Some questions:
1. It seems to me that the only difference between the series 9 and 10 is the charging base and there is actually no difference on the toothbrush itself. Is this true?
2. Can the series 9 toothbrush work with the series 10 charging base?
In answer to your questions.
1) Yes, this is true as far as I am aware. No technical difference. Although the handle colours are slightly different.
2) Yes, it can. But, at this time you can't buy the iO10's iOSense enabled charging stand on it's own.
Thank you brilliant video ❤
You’re welcome 😊
Does the io serie clean better than the pro serie?
For ex the io 3 and the pro 3000 which does clean better ?
There is no study that looks at these in detail. Realistically in everyday use they are basically comparable.
I couldn't say the iO cleans better than the Pro series or the Pro cleans bettet than iO.
They do feel a little different when you brush. The iO feels a little more gentle.
Can you tell me the difference between the Oral-B Pro and iO ?
I really want a good electric toothbrush, but don't see any advantage of one that I can connect to my mobile.
There are several models in the Pro range, is there a specific one you are comparing to?
The short answer is they all clean comparably. You are likely going to be paying quite a bit more for features on the iO that you might not actually use or benefit from.
Brush heads for the pro series are half the price of the iO brush heads for example.
@@ElectricTeeth I ordered the Oral-B iO 4. I am a good brusher of 2 minutes every time. In the morning before breakfast and before bedtime. The toothbrush I have now is the Oral-B Pro 2000 series. I hope I like the
Where i live the IO8 is 180 USD right now and IO9 is 268 USD. Which one should i get? Is it really worth it to pay the extra 90 dollars?
Not in my opinion no.
How do the lower io series compare to the Oral B pro 3 series?
Cleaning results are comparable.
iO models look a bit nicer (in my opinion).
iO models are quieter and the cleaning action feels a bit softer.
iO brush heads are about 2x the cost of the Pro 3 Series.
The iO's pressure sensor is more advanced and arguably more useful if you know you brush too hard.
Pro 3 is the better value option in most instances.
Hi I would like to ask if 3d tracking (io9) is worth it to pay much extra for io9? Is it really accurate? or io6 is enough can help with brush clean?
As a general rule I would say no. The iO6 is generally enough.
@@ElectricTeeththank you! I couldn’t find much feedback of people talking about 3d tracking. so not sure if it makes such a big difference.(because I want one can help me clean my teeth deeply and works well, I’m still having the normal brush, and I heard io series is a good choice)
If 3d tracking is not that matters, What about io4,5,6? I know the difference between 4,5 and 6, 6 is the one having to screen on, and maybe some extra mode. Does it have big difference compare to 4,5? Sorry to asked you again, I have been looking for these brushes for weeks, and still couldn’t make a decision 🫠. Will you still recommend 6? And why? Thank you again!!
The iO4 does not have the real-time (6 zone) tracking.
The iO5 does. It's very similar to the iO6, but without a screen.
They are similar so price might have a part to play. The iO6 often comes with a case, whereas the iO5 does not always. You may want to consider if this is important. Pay a price you are happy with.
Here's a video explaining the differences between 6 and 16 zone tracking - ruclips.net/video/C_4ynPGTp1I/видео.html - I hope it helps
Appreciate starting with the conclusion! Minto piramid ftw
Do all of these have the same motor, or are the more e pen models more powerful?
As far as we are aware they are all the same. 👍
Oral b smart 2000 or io 6?
Can you use cross action head on an io 6?
Smart 2000 has the essentials you need. The iO6 has more features, many won't use.
If you want to track your brushing etc, then you will need a model like the iO6.
Best value for money will come from the Smart 2000.
The iO Series and other Oral-B brushes use different brush heads, they are not compatible with each other. You can't use the CrossAction on the iO6. The iO equivalent is the ultimate clean brush head.
@Electric Teeth im not sure that all of them are at the same RPM, ive been trying them all in a store and for example io9 seems to have a little more powerful motor than the 8, so the motor on all of them should be different aswell ''more powerful on the more expensive ones''
Not according to the information we have from Oral-B. All the motors are the same.
4 was on sale at Walmart for $80 but online from oral b the 5 was $80 only in alpine green…definitely worth the research and buying the 5 😂
Yo I wanna upgrade from the genius X to the IO10. Is it worth the upgrade or I should stick with the genius X
Stick with the Genius X if it is working fine. There are pros but nowhere near enough to justify the massive price difference.
I’m more of a Philips Sonic Care guy myself 😁

Ideally, yes.
Can anyone please explain what the difference is between the Oral B IO Series 7 and the Oral B IO Series 7G and the Oral B IO Series 7N and the Oral B Series 7S??
The box contents. In other words the brush heads and accessories supplied in the box. You get hard plastic or soft magnetic pouch cases. The handle is identical.
I've owned several Oral B's over the past decade. From what I know, the inner gear mechanism is exactly the same on these models.
Hey, great video. What's the difference between io 7 and io 7g ?
It's usually the box contents. It depends on your location. In the USA the iO7g comes with a travel pouch and a brush head refill holder. But the 7 comes with a plastic travel case, but no brush head refill holder.
@@ElectricTeeth cool, thanks!

I love my io9! Feels like I’ve left the dentist every time I clean .
Great to read. DO you use all the features?
I may have missed it but do you know if these all use lithium ion batteries?
Yes they do.

Where did you get the io 10????
Amazon in the UK.
as a dental hygienist, I love oral b IO. after 2 years, my IO9 is starting dying. Only lasts for about 4 days. I’m thinking to upgrade it to 10
Shame to read the battery is dying. Whilst Oral-B won't advise it, there are guides online to replace the battery fairly easily if you need to. A new battery isn't very expensive either. I tried it myself and it was really quite easy. This would be far cheaper than replacing with the iO10!
if models 7,8 and 9 are louder, does it mean that the head rotates faster on these models?
Not as far as I am aware.
The models we have tested were bought in 2020 when the brushes first launched. Newer models (3, 4, 5, 6 & 10) were launched later and were quieter.
It is possible that new versions of the 7, 8 & 9 have been modified and are quieter to match, but we haven't bought new ones to test just this. The user manuals of these models don't make specific mention of the noise like the others do.
I have periodontal disease and my dentist recommends i brush for 4 minutes. Which model would help me manage my condition?
Any of these can be used for 4 minutes each time. All have a lower speed sensitive mode which can be helpful and there is the Gentle Care brush head with soft bristles which would be ideal.
@@ElectricTeeth Thanks for the quick reply. So none of these would make a difference for my condition? Thought one may have a better "mode" for my condition and/or perhaps provide better information that I can use to evaluate my brushing technique...at least, it seems Oral B would think so, don't you agree?
@@c.taplin6427 All of these should help your condition, by cleaning effectively and removing the plaque and debris from around the teeth, that might have led to the periodontal disease. You will likely want to use the sensitive or sensitive+ modes available as these are slower and more gentle on the teeth and gums. Used with the Gentle Care brush head and brushing for longer as your dentists advises should all help manage your condition.
The iO9 &10 have enhanced tracking capabilities that can give more feedback on your brushing and in turn help you improve your technique and condition. But, you don't need this.
Spend a little time learning how to brush your teeth correctly and you can save a lot of money.
Why doesn’t oral b publish the oscillating speed for each of the models like the use to?
I don't know for sure but probably because there is little difference between them and what difference there is has no meaningful difference in the cleaning results. As far as we are aware all iO models have the same movements.
are they all equally powerful, meaning the respective "daily clean" and other modes have the same number of oscillations per minute?
The iO Series has a different motor to other Oral-B brushes. The brush head still has an oscillating, rotating and pulsating action, however rather than being measured by a number of movements per minute it is now measured based on the oscillation angle.
Daily Clean
Oscillation angle of 28° (+/- 5°) and a frequency of 145Hz.
Gum Care
A sweeping oscillation angle of 14-28° (+/- 5°) over 100 milliseconds and a frequency of 145Hz.
Sensitive
Oscillation angle of 20° (+/- 5°) and a frequency of 145Hz.
Super Sensitive
Oscillation angle of 15° (+/- 5°) and a frequency of 145Hz.
Whitening
A sweeping oscillation angle of 16-33° (+/- 5°) over 1800 milliseconds and a frequency of 145Hz.
Intense
Oscillation angle of 33° (+/- 5°) and a frequency of 145Hz.
Tongue Clean
Oscillation angle of 15° (+/- 5°) and a frequency of 145Hz.

800 pounds? Not really, the top of the range iO10 only costs like 349 pounds
A very thorough and extensive review. However, you left out the 7G model. I was wondering if there’s a major difference between it and the series 7. I know the 7G has a soft pouch and a bush holder but not sure of any other differences. Thsnks
Thanks. This highlights exactly the issues with the iO and Oral-B range. So many different variants. Trying to put all into one video is nigh on impossible.
Technically the 7G is the same as the iO7. The difference is that rather than a hard plastic travel case you get a magnetic pouch case and a brush head replacement holder.
Can you speak to how the iO series compares to the older Genius X?
We have a video about this coming to the channel in the near future as it happens. But in short, they clean the teeth comparably.
The iO is quieter and feels more gentle when brushing.
The iO arguably looks the nicer brush but depending on the version you choose there might not be cleaning mode icons like the Genius X.
The brush heads for the iO are a touch bigger and 2x the cost.
The pressure sensor is better on the iO.
If you own the Genius X already and it is working fine, I wouldn't suggest changing.
Correction in Europe (for so far I know) the io 6 has an premium variant witch includes an toothbrush holder
I think XD
which one will be the best tooth brush ( money not an issue ) oral io or Philips sonic
It depends how you define best. But, if it were me and I had no limit on the spend, the Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige.
you are the Michael Jordan of toothbrush reviews :) thorough but to the point
Thank you. 😁
Are all Oral B's travel cases chargeable?
No. Only select cases with premium modules. iO9 and 10 along with Genius Pro 8000 or 9000 and Genius X.
Are their tooth cleaning performances the same?
Yes. You could argue those with the advanced tracking can educate you to clean your teeth better. But, using each brush on it's own, no 1 model is going to offer any real difference in cleaning ability.
I find the advanced tracking on my i09 is really helpful. Dentist noticed me teeth were cleaner.
is that true io 4 will clean your teeth the same like io 10?
Yes
Sorry to be a bother, planning on getting either a genius x for £99 or io5 for £109 which would you recomend?
It's a tough one to be honest. The iO5 in some respects is a nicer brush to use and I do like the pressure sensor because it shows the correct pressure as well as incorrect. But, the Genius X will cost less ongoing with replacement brush heads. iO heads are about twice the price. Although it is a bit bulky you also get the charging travel case with the Genius (assuming the model you are looking at has this). So ultimately I would pick the Genius X.
@@ElectricTeeth Thank you very much for the advice.
@@Stupid_Rabbit I've used both the Genius and the iO series. I felt as if the iO series got my teeth cleaner, the gear mechanism is soooo much smoother and brushing is a lot quieter. I would not have gotten another Genius brush had they not come out with the iO series. And, the pressure sensor is a really important feature power brushes should have. It clearly tells you if you are pressing too hard against the teeth. So many people brush incorrectly, that's why I love this feature in the iO series of brushes.
I have the luck to have a IO 10 and thanks to my personal promo acually cost for me less than IO 9
Currently the best deals on the iO series in the UK are as follows:
iO6 - £109
iO7 - £124
iO8 - £135
iO9 - £225
iO10 - £349
What would you suggest is the best value for money with the current offers?
It all depends on what is important to you. Do you want the best tracking? If so, go for the iO9. But honestly, the iO6 is the best value all things considered in my opinion. Potentially, the magnetic charger of the iO7 is worth it for what is essentially £15 more, but it is far from essential.
Seems nice considering the dropped pound rate ^_^
Electric Teeth you normally do reviews on electric mouth cleaning products.(Electric Brushes & Flosser). However, are you going to do reviews on Oral B Manual Brush(3d White, Cross Action, etc.)
No immediate plans to do reviews of manual brushes.
@@ElectricTeeth ok
Which one's the fastest what do they all have the same speed
They all have the same motor and speed/power as far as we are aware.
Maybe in the future Oral B would create a IO Series 1 and Series 2. The Series 1 could have 1 cleaning mode, while the Series 2 could have 2 cleaning modes. Then the IO Series would be similar to the Pro Series. Pro Series has: includes models 1,000 to 10,000; while the IO Series only includes models: 3 to 10. However the Pro Series 4000 to 10,000 have bluetooth, while the 1000, 2000, and 3000 have no blue tooth. While to Series models 4 to 10 have bluetooth, while the series 3 model doesn't have bluetooth. So a Series 1 and Series 2 model won't have bluetooth either.
An entry level, i like that idea.
I think Oral-B will do this. I think it is a sensible approach. Unfortunately the main downside here is that the iO heads cost 2x the price of heads for most other Oral-B brushes.
Really nice idea. An iO 1 would only have daily clean and iO 2 would also have sensitive.
How to tell the mode in IO3? Help😢
You have to just remember the order as per the manual. There are no cleaning mode icons or labels on the handle. You will in time learn the difference between the sounds of each.
Bro hast the best teeth ive ever seen
What a great guide you made! Thank you so much! And that written one..!!! (ノ゚0゚)ノ
Just one question. Is it possible to purchase a 9/10 series' case separately and charge a 5/6/7 series brush with it?
Hi. Thanks for the kind words.
Technically yes you can purchase the travel cases separately. They are not the easiest to get hold of and the price may or may not be worth it.
The 5 and 6 series will fit in the case, but won't charge properly (to my knowledge) because of the different connectors on the base for charging.
@@ElectricTeeth
That means, 7 or 8 will do? ^^
Yep
Where does the difference in decibels come from? It's all the same motor I tought?
Yes the same motor.
In our testing, we found the iO7, 8 & 9 to register at 72dB vs the 64 dB of all the other models. Interestingly the manuals of the iO3-6 all specifically state max dB of 64 too. The other manuals don't too my knowledge. The iO7, 8 & 9 were the first models to be designed and launched. It's possible revisions have been made in the other models to address the noise. Hence iO3, 4, 5, 6 & 10 being quieter. It is too possible a new iO7, 8 or 9 is quieter than the one we tested when they first launched in 2020. We just haven't bought these 3 models again to specifically test the sound.
I bought the IO Series 3 and theres no way to really identifying which cleaning mode youre on. Could someone please help me identify which is which.
It has Daily Clean, Sensitive, and Whitening.
The 3 different modes that it cycles through are:
- constant vibration fast
- constant vibration medium
- pulsing vibration from medium to fast
Can someone PLEASE help me identify which the pulsing mode is. Ill be able to figure out what the others are from there. I cant believe how difficult this info seems to be to find
Whitening has the pulsing vibration.
The modes run in this order: Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whitening.
So which one should i buy 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 or 10?
1 or 2 if you can find one

oral B Io4 of Oral B Io5?
iO5 would be my pick.
Why are the 7,8,9,10 louder? Different electronics??

I believe all the electronics are the same.

@@ElectricTeeth very interesting! Thanks for the detailed reply!
reapeating its expensive dosnt evaluate ist advatages or quality. Some just dont care about the price. Maybe Oral B is testing the Market and i think they struck gold if they keep up, id pay much more as long as im enjoying the product..
Fair enough. I agree price is not an issue for some. We have tested them all and try to evaluate the quality and advantages.
The experience with the iO Series compared to some other models is fractionally better, but for many the cost premium isn't justifiable.
Wow.
Io5 or 6?
Generally I'd pick the 6. But, both clean the teeth comparably.
I bought a Series 9. The brush is fine, but the app consistently gets the position of the brush wrong, and then tells you you haven't covered areas when you have. So you find yourself over-brushing certain parts of the mouth to please the app, and ignoring other areas. So you have to ignore the app, which defeats the point of spending $300 on a supposedly intelligent toothbrush. An infuriating experience.
I’m torn between 6-7 only difference 7 got a mag charger.
The iO6 is usually cheaper, so I would recommend this. The magnetic charger is slick and offers a recharge in just 3 hours, but few need this.
@@ElectricTeeth I’m actually annoyed I own the oral b 6500 it’s been ok the last two years I’ve had it the only major criticism is the battery does lose charge a lot with use but I’ve just come to accept it. I want a replacement with these new io oral b. But what they done seems so insidious making what ten new toothbrushes that look the same but slightly different and the outrageous pricing originally starting at £400 some of them as u know is gross and off putting. I don’t see why io7 or even io6 could have been the base starting models. In my dream world I want the io10 with the better stand but I’d be crazy to pay the prices oral b want for a toothbrush 😪 which why I have to get in my mind the 6-7 as reasonably priced as they the most modern basic upgrade from what I have now if you feel me?
I hear and feel you. It is scandalous really.
Don't expect the battery to be loads better on the iO Series.
If your 6500 still works, you cold just stick with that.
Do you need or want the display or tracking? The iO3 is more affordable.
@@ElectricTeeth it’s more I just want something new and shiny to treat myself I saw one on Amazon for io 10 rrp £800 now £400 😮
I got the IO 8 for 150€ a year ago
Haha you don't have the tongue clean mode
@@911eVoX So? Kind of rude
It is very good, but it has more flaws than the old one. Firstly, the brush is wide and may not be useful for some and does not move easily in the mouth. Secondly, the battery is very weak and does not last for a week. If you brush your teeth twice a day, the battery lasts for only five or winter days.
Thirdly, the grip is very bad. Forthly, the battery fails within 2 years. I have had 6 different ones and always same issue.
