I'm sorry about the sound quality, the audio was recorded on the wrong mic... 😣 But rather than delete the video, here it is, in order to keep the correct chess.com Elo rating for these videos.
I didn't even notice to be fair, I was just excited to get more full length GingerGM videos. And the speedrun series is particularly great. Keep producing content for YT, Simon, much appreciated!
Sounded fine. Love the content. I’m 1950 Blitz and 2000 Rapid and still get a lot out of your teaching from games with lower rated players. I do look forward to when you get closer to where I am currently at though, as I have been stuck at this blitz rating for too long!
Watching on mobile phone. Sound does not matter. By the way Simon the last games opening is called the Pirc Defense Czech Cariation and was played by quite a number of GMs. It's a bit like the Black Lion give it a try
I want to ask: where you are from the United Kingdom? Wich the Club? Do you know Daniel King? We can see a tournament match between you two? Can be of great interest for fans. No hurry. And well thanks. I quote also Martin Fuchs, on smartphone the audio it's okay. And okay to know, for the opening.
Kudos to that 3rd player. I'm shocked they are only 1374 rated with how clean they were playing. Great series, I'm trying to learn the french and dutch defenses and love your material.
Nice stuff!!! Very useful!! Lots of nice tips and advice: 1. Don't make one-move threats in the opening - it wastes time. 2. Only make one-move threats if your opponent needs to make strong concessions to stop it. 3. You should develop your pieces so they control the centre or point towards the centre. 4. Castle at the start of the game. 5. Don't move the same piece twice in the opening (it loses time). 6. Think before you move - look and see how many pieces control that square. 7. Understand why you make moves in the opening (understand the why in opening theory). 8. Don't block bishops in. 9. Keep the position open to attack. 10. Play sensible, principled moves in short-time controls. Learned a lot!!
@2:00 I remember having not fianchettoed my bishop and playing na6 when the knight was still on c3 it was a Dutch vs London. The light square bishop sacrifice destroyed my position on the queen side.
Ginger GM was very critical of his qa5 move. It is not a bad move in the Czech Pirc. I have a really good record in blitz games playing the Czech Pirc. At my rating level people do not know how to refute the system in quick games.
The last opponent played well. He came out of the opening well and was kind of equal after his g6 move. Of course a GM always going to overpower a 1400 rated player in the middle/end game. Also Ginger GM was unfairly critical of his qa5 move. It is a standard theoretical move in the Czech Pirc system. Thanks GGM for the great content as always.
Dang, I watch all the big chess channels but I usually only learn at Ben Finegolds channel. After watching this video I recognize what a great teacher this man is.
This is my rating level (peak 1492). It's funny how it seems so easy to win these short games without having to think ahead more than a couple of moves. Just by knowing the opening, he easily wins games.
Great video! And yes, I am around this level too, and I also get these kinds of rude comments evert now and then. It makes me really sad that some people can be so rude on the internet for no reason. But I also think that a lot of these players are kids that just want to be annoying.
Literally any 1400 I've ever played in my life has never played this badly/oddly. For some reason these people seem to play differently when they know they're playing a GM.
Yeah I have the same feeling, when I play against 1400's I feel like i'm playing GMs. But maybe i'm just very bad (i'm only 1200). The last guy was pretty good though, created some nice threats even in late game being down material
@@tdb517 Sometimes when people don't expect their opponents to blunder they miss their opponents blunders. I am 1800, and even at my level people blunder very dumb things, in fact I have belated 2000+ rated players because they blundered a piece (or a queen in 1 case), or checkmate in 1 move. If you play the game with the mentality of "my opponent is a chess god, he can never blunder" then you are not attentive to blunders and you will miss them when they appear.
I am a low player rating around 1200 and yes i get alot of stupid insult. Also if i play 1000 rated player they destroy me. So my comclusion is that low rated player are impolite cheater

All good, the content is still great and appreciated.

Watched this, learnt a lot, played chess with more confidence, lost 50 elo
You played a GM on a speedrun 20 games :)
Nice
Opponents are watching even more speed runs
Simon, you are very pedagogical and in a calm and pleasant voice! Greetings from Sweden!

Learned a lot!!
A new episode!? Feels like christmas. Keep producing the stellar content, Simon.
That was brilliant. Very straightforward, really well explained. Looking forward to more like this!
I learned more in this video than I have at like 3 other channels, ever!
This format is so useful, thank you!
The Czech Defense's Qa5 at 23:40 is book and standard. On Lichess Qa5 is 2nd most popular after Bg4.
This speedrun serie is awesome.
Good job mate! You earned my sub. That was an extremely helpful explanation.
Excellent lesson. So easy to follow.
These videos are excellent. Really helping me progress. Thanks.
My favourite speedrun
Genuinely just sticks to principles and makes it look so simple! Geddon Simon
Thank you for explaining the thought process.
Another great content by the greatest chess teachers out there! Ta mate 🙂
9:38 Did you miss that fork with your d pawn in his knight and bishop? Or is there a good reason not to play it?
You're right, d4 was the best move in the position (I double checked with an engine), he must have just missed it.
@2:00 I remember having not fianchettoed my bishop and playing na6 when the knight was still on c3 it was a Dutch vs London. The light square bishop sacrifice destroyed my position on the queen side.
The system played by your opponent in the last game is promoted by Robert Ramirez on his RUclips channel. He calls it the Czech Pirc.
Ginger GM was very critical of his qa5 move. It is not a bad move in the Czech Pirc. I have a really good record in blitz games playing the Czech Pirc. At my rating level people do not know how to refute the system in quick games.
@@BM-hj6lq the Czech Pirc is played by very strong GMs like Akobian. I think Simon's critique is a bit off base in this case.
The system you criticized at 22:50 is the beginning moves of the Lion lol
Loved this video
@24:11 It looks like Black is playing a scandinavian set up in piece placement without playing e4 d5 exd5 Qd5 moves. Interesting.

Well said. I'd be proud of that last game
one of the best chess series ever!!
It's great isn't it. See informative and I'm learning loads, being a 1300 player
Your lessons are very helpful thank you!
Very good explanations, thanks.
Some speedrun only for some specific opening and defense would be good too.
I'm really liking your speed run series Simon - very beneficial to me ,as I'm around 1200 or so.. Thank You !🍻G.
Listen Simon... that was fantastic, thank you.
5:44 you could have won the queen
Nf3+
5:44 - nice knight pin on queen if moved to F3
Dang, I watch all the big chess channels but I usually only learn at Ben Finegolds channel. After watching this video I recognize what a great teacher this man is.
Loving This! And yet looking forward to Ginger waxing the titled players a tier or so below him while explaining for our benefit.
22:38 Did the last guy come roooaring out with the dreaded Black Lion?
@5:43 doesn't knight F3 check just pick up the queen? or am I high?
The speedrun is back!!! Happy days.
Keep on rockin' in the Ginger world!!!
Please keep this going. Especially if you can stick to the lower range for longer (1000 ish)
Yes!! Speed run!!
what a professional video!
Yes! You’re back
Opponent: *exists*
Simon: A typical mistake by my opponent
😅
Yes, yes, yesssssss.
Thanks for the upload
5:44 Nf3!
Brill, cheers Simon!
There was queen/ king fork in that first game… with the knight
I like your longer sessions thanks .
5:44 was there Nf3+, Kh1, Nxd4?
That move is sexy! I'm sure he'd be disappointed that he missed it!

They did play oddly but I am not surprised by their blunders, I played against 1700s,1800s,1900s,2000s who made blunders like those or even worse.

Missed this!!!!!
I have been speed running the opposite way, peaked at 2170 then yeeted my way back to 2100
Mikethescriv was like school in the summer. No class
great t-shirt
I love speedruns.
Dodgy sound or not, you can't beat a GingerGM speedrun video. Maybe with added jepoardy of a Carolina Reaper chilli shot if you lose a game.
Awesome video! But it's funny when you say you dont have to think alot but u still have wayy better undersanding then me :)
Was expecting Nf3+ at 5:44 smh 🤦🏻♂️
Is it just me or did the first player play at more of an 1100 level rather than 1460?
No , at the higher levels you get more stockfish accounts around XD , at least that is what I see in Ben's streans
Hang on...Nb5 (2:00) is book in the Jobava...so why are you saying it's not good??? You would have encouraged us to play it as White, no???
Bob Ross shirt???
👍👍
Lol Mike closed his account. I wonder why.
