I have the bonfire and it’s perfect for a family of 4. I also have a rotisserie ring for my 18” Weber Smokey Mountain and it fits this pit perfectly. I put some tabs on the ring to hold a grate so I can grill or rotisserie with it. And the lid of WSM goes on top if needed.
We will often break out the Bonfire when it's just the 4 of us hanging out on the patio, so I'm right there with you. The Canyon is aptly named I think, because that thing is massive and great for company. That's great info on the WSM, thanks for sharing!

Here is a substitute for heat deflectors: HIGHER SEATS! I have two SOLOs, and the one back east I use on a deck with high bench seating. Makes a big difference if you are sitting 10-12” higher than a standard chair!
Great tip! The seats we use around the fire pit are taller high back adirondack chairs, and they make it so much easier to feel heat when we're sitting down.
@@TheBarbecueLab I love the heat deflectors, in theory, but it interferes with the natural enjoyment of watching a flame…. And underneath it all, every man you know is just a 13 year old boy who loves to make fires and cook stuff.
@@gosman949 I have the base for the SOLO, and I placed four large, square paving stones down under it. They protect the wooden deck. When I have used it on the concrete driveway, the concrete was warm to the touch, but not hot. I suspect that if you got a readily-available asbestos mat for your deck, it would be fine. There are very few sparks or embers - none, really - so I used it on the deck after observing it for a while on the concrete driveway in the east. Here in SoCal, I use mine on spanish style tiles, and it is fine.
Thanks for a comparison video on these. I’ve always wanted one but the lack of not knowing has kept me from pulling the trigger. I think the Yukon would do the trick
Thank you for the video, from a fellow BBQ guy (dual BGE’s). I have a question on the Canyon - if you don’t want a raging fire in the canyon, will the smoke reburn still work? If I only light a couple logs for a small fire in the largest fire pit I worry it won’t contain enough heat to reburn the smoke at the top. Sometimes we like big fires sometimes small. I’m on the fence between Yukon and Canyon. Thank you in advance.
Having used several sizes of these, they need the appropriate fuel volume to make that secondary burn really work. Obviously you can burn a small fire in the biggest pit, but it won't get that jet-engine looking heat pump that burns off the excess fuel like it does with a proper fuel load.
Had to laugh at your comment about keeping your ring looking nice for years, then to go on to test them all with a veritable ‘sausage-fest’ or burly bearded men all stood around together lol. 😂 Good review in all seriousness 👍🏻 😂
I’ve watched so many of your videos and silly self never knew you are also in Indiana. I just moved from Nora north Indy area to way east out in Greenfield for our first home. Excited to pick up a solo stove and pellet grill smoker.
Sounds like I have a new bbq buddy to come over and assemble grills! We're just up the road from you in Fishers, so enjoy the wind that's been keeping us from getting out and shooting the last few days...
I'm supposed to be having guests over tonight around the fire pit making Big Mac Smashburger tacos... in the rain... and 45mph gusting winds -@@JarradShaw If we don't blow away, I'll try to put together a short vertical on it. If nothing else, we should be able to see the lettuce blow off a taco.
That sounds delicious and fun! Lol!!! God bless and God speed my friend. The family just got two welsh corgi pups. Watching them outside to go potty looks like something from Moby Dick as they blown around, lol
I really like the Canyon too. It's crazy how wide the heat radius is on that model. I got to see the 36" Old Country at the BBQ Expo this year, but it wasn't lit... Sounds like a good upcoming test!

I appreciate that! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. It was fun putting them to the test.

The heat deflectors for any of those are game changers
Yes they displace the heat just perfect around. Highly recommend it
Does the heat deflector come with it?
@@Ben24784 sold separately
@@Ben24784 no
This was an amazing genius video. To get the opinion of other guys that are helping to test is simple but genius imo.

Hey Surf, how is your deck under the Solos?

Damn half this video is an Ad.
Deflector is a must purchase. The heat is mostly lost without it. More could stay warm around my bonfire for sure
Dude - what about the Ranger model?

Agree! Went with the Yukon. It’s awesome. Happy we did.
@@twozeroone201 I did not make that comment
I’ve had the Yukon for a couple of years. It chews through a TON of wood. Wish I had gotten the bonfire.
Im getting myself a yukon. Thanks for this amazing reviews and comparison 😊
That outdoor kitchen is pretty fire
Great video! Exactly the research I was looking for

I’ve seen the ranger 2.0 and it’s the perfect size
Is there a promo code for a different video?
Do not overload it. My go to fire pit is the canyon. The nonsmokeless go to fire pit is the old country 36 inch round fire pit.

God I love this channel
From NWI Indiana. Where are you located at?
Do you still stink like wood after being around this unit?
Not with a Solo Stove fire pit. They really do burn so clean that there's no smoke smell on clothes or hair.
@2:00 that’s what she said
lol
Greetings from Fort Wayne
Can you cook on them?

For the cost of those I’m fine without them. Also I could probably build one of those super cheap for what they cost
Do it you won’t
Sure you could.
Then why search for the video? 🙄
7:06 12 guys doable with a canyon 😂
So tell me, being smokeless, does it still smell like a campfire?
Because I love that smell on me afterwards, on clothes, in my hair.
Who has build fabrication plans?
Omg WAY too much advertising!!
😅ok it’s small group. Wondering how you got dudes to come over during football season for your video. Better be some burgers! Or steaks! 😂
Best tip, you can build this yourself at home with a well stocked Wal-Mart
