It doesn’t even look like he’s trying to throw it hard. Just has a solid whip arm.
throwing that hard he won't make in til 25 at the rate he's going. but that's what the MLB is all about nowadays.
I dont think Skenes had his best stuff today but was still a very impressive debut. His potential is limitless.
He’s impressive but he’s on the Pirates sooo
Watching him was pretty cool. Hopefully, he will have a great career!
This man is going places. Give it 10 years then people will come flooding back to this video like they did for Clayton Kershaws debut.
He’ll be a Yankee 5 - 6 years.
@@therealchucktaylor3392skenes you are a seattle mariner
His new backups blew his debut. 😢
The amount of new talents that MLB has is greatest than any other league!!
I’d disagree. It’s definitely bowling.
His wife Karen, his mom Karen, and his GF Livvy being all together is great
Stacey’s Dad, Karen must’ve really had it going on…
The Pirates caused an awkward scene when they sent box seat tickets to both his wife and his girlfriend...and to top it off it all happened in front of his mother, how embarrassing for him.
@@SD-gh1wua wife and a gf?
This guy is throwing DIFFERENT stuff for 21 years old, best of luck for the rest of his career! ⚾️🔥
And we quickly found out the Pirates bullpen is not Paul Skenes
Yea
Huh? I don't understand.
@@CT99999the bullpen blew the game immediately after skenes was done
@@nbeutler1134yes the bullpen are pitchers and pitchers give up runs. Welcome to baseball
@@brandonneumann5294 Yeah... but giving up 6 bases loaded walks in one inning is a bit different
Awesome debut, fun to watch!
He’ll be wearing Yankees pinstripes in 5-6 years 😂
Keep telling yourself that
@@azex443 Let’s Go Yankees !
he'll have Tommy John surgery in 1-2 years and be defunct in 3-4 years.
Tommy John has entered the chat
Lol I was about go say the same. He throws so hard Tommy is coming in due time unfortunately
Nah. It's his lower body. He looks like a clone of Nolan Ryan when he was young. Watch his lower body generate the torque and his arm is just controlling the balls direction.
Welcome to the Big Show Skenes⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾
skenes made it in life
I never want to see a player get a injury but throwing 101 or 102 in the first inning is crazy!! He probably will blow-up his elbow like Strider, Alcantara etc... This ain't the first time we see a starter with crazy velo and spin is just matter of time!! That's why i don't get exited deep down many people knows this ain't sustainable for a long career!!
50/50 chance really.. a lot of guys have had good careers throwing like this
@bumslightrail2382 Like who?
@@inquir2283 off the top of my head verlander, gerrit cole, Carlos zambrano, roger Clemens, randy Johnson, Nolan Ryan,
@@inquir2283Justin Verlander, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens Nolan Ryan.....
Don't wish that evil upon him
Velocity is crazy. Hope his arm holds up
ikr, you would usually see that from a closer since they usually have to get only the last 3 outs, but from a starting pitcher is crazy
Guy only started pitching full time last year. Hopefully that’s less wear and tear on his arm!
@@Kyucumber_ dudes gonna have a HOF career 100%
@@ryanc12.24 brother goin down as the next eric gagne
It won’t, but he’ll get the TJ and come back throwing 107 😂
Love this kid!
Good luck to em. He looks like the real deal.
Its every man's dream to date a gymnast.

@@gsandy5235 u crazy bro?
Imagine the positions....😮
Big fan of Paul hope his career goes great
Strasburg got me back in love with baseball, and I will forever be grateful. But Pittsburgh fans, I hope your front office is smart enough to capitalize on this kids talent immediately. Because he’s s arm will give and there will be several Tommy John’s in his future. Not being negatibe, just the current state of MLB.
"Strasburg got me back in love with baseball....." And if my favorite team were owned by the late Peter Angelos I might think the same way too, lol.
@@gregpaspatis9425 solid point lol. I just meant that I hope he has a long career, that’s all. It seems like these big hurlers are dropping like flies. And Tommy John is the norm now. Hope I’m wrong, he’s a beast.
Amazing elite pitcher just hope he don’t get injured trowing triple digits. You got this SKENES! I didn’t know who to watch Paul or Christian scott 🔥
Pretty much when how I excepted. Needs to have his command more on lock but you see the potential. Great mix of pitches he can go to and a stater being able to throw a 100 mph is very tantalizing. Hope this guy can stay healthy though that’s always my biggest concern with pitchers like Skenes.
This kid is going to be something special.
The next GOAT
스트라스버그로 MLB를 보기 시작했는데 그때가 생각난다😊
확실히 1위 유망주라 다르긴 하네요!
Congrats to the Pirates organization for having more than 10 people to care for a game in the past decade.
He's going to be a great piece for the Pirates to trade away to a big market team for draft picks in 3 years or so.
good for him bro
Wow he works so fast. Like 7-8 seconds between pitches
He learned his lesson yesterday watching Bellinger turn 100 into 105 heading into the bleachers
Yea belly can do that but honestly the numbers say big velo gets most guys out most of the time
You must have missed the doofus swing on his changeup.
@@JohnM-sw4scthe numbers says big velo gets most guys out most of the time 🤓
@@brandonneumann5294 baseball is a nerd sport bro. If you aren’t deep diving into spin rates and xWoba you are a peasant
@@JohnM-sw4sc no baseball is not a nerd sport you just sound extremely corny
I recorded it and I am watching now. So far WOW!
The only weakness of this dude is being on the Pirates lol
That second strike out was sweet. Man did he buckle him.
Dis dude mane.
0:27 he gave up a homer in triple A, hats off to whoever hit that
Dude winning life...
Looked good
Absolute electric stuff... HOF material. He will need to find his "command" to keep that pitch count down to go deeper into games and increase his longevity over his career. Worst case for him he becomes an all-star closer for many years... best case, Nolan Ryan 2.0.
Why does the commentator repeatedly mention that the date is May 11? I don't understsand the implications. Is he trying to say that we are lucky to have a full season ahead of us to witness this exciting talent?
Because the crowd is so amped up so early in the season
Happy to see such a big crowd turnout.
Three words come to mind after seeing this guy pitch: Tommy John surgery.
You must not understand mechanics because his delivery is effortless
@@ConnorBrew19 it takes the same amount of energy to propel a ball to 100mph no matter who is doing it. he is killing his arm and he knows it, you know it, everyone knows it.
I love how Greg keeps mentioning that it's May 11th. It's sad that he has to do that. But, he's absolutely right.
They didn't issue a no hitter warning prior to the game like they did for Yoshinobu Yamamoto?
Throwing that hard, its only a matter of time for little buddy Tommy John to say hello.
what's the over-under on it nowadays, like three years? i'm thinking two, for someone like this. young and impressionable youth who has a lot to live up to. he's gonna be trying to throw 100 every pitch and strike out 10+ per game. he's gonna be done within 5 years max, i'm thinking more like 2
of course to a young teenager 5 years in the big leagues sounds like a lifetime
完美的投手。
Hope he stays healthy, I could see him being a career 3000 strikeout guy
87 with that much movement at 3:26 is insane
His pitching pace is insanly fast
"Livvy Dunne, his wife Karen" Lucky guy.
Lmao it's his mom, what a blooper
폴태식이 데뷔했구나. 축하한다
A lot of promise but he came back down to earth in the 5th. Wish him the best. Reminds me of all the hype that Strasberg had
The worst thing for young players is too much hype. Hopefully he keeps his head straight and does well for himself and his team
Maybe he could've recovered if they didn't take him out, but it seems like they were strict about his pitch count
He gave up 2 hits in the 5th and one was an infield single
Um, Strasburg had a great career.
@@itheuserfirst3186 where did I say that Strasberg has a bad career? I’m saying the hype level is the same
this rookie seems promising
Bro is winning in life
Just 7 hours prior to his MLB debut he was inside Livvy.
Like Garret cole debut deja vu
Anyone know when he pitches again?
He'll make a fine pitcher for another team, once his rookie contract is up and he signs somewhere else.
wow
He was ridiculous at lsu.
Number 30 fits him him. The amount of pitches he threw
I wish he was on the Red Sox.
Just like last year with LSU just walks off the mound as if were nothing & the corwd thought it was the greatest. Skenes is 🐐.
Morel nearly made that a quick 2-0 cubs lead
LSU TO PIRATES LESS GOO 🔥🔥🔥
Well pirates regret taking him out lol GO CUBS GO!!!!💪🏼✨
@@adrianbahennot suprised our bullpen chocked our great lead
Successful debut, his good potential are high superstars in the making maybe HOF.
Another Stephen Stasburg!
There ya go big fella… f**k them nerves
dude throw a 101 without trying LOL
2026, NYY, all star, Paul Skenes.
Anyone notice how quiet that stadium was to start? Everyone just quiet and watching.
4:28 Change up and Slider is nasty
Couple hundred bucks headed to Lt. Dan. Nice!
Tommy gonna come knocking.
Skenes vs Ohtani. That will be fun.
From the thumbnail i thought it was a picture from the 70s or 80s xD
As a cubs fan I hope he has a great career
Also I appreciate your bullpen 😁
I know couple years from now he will be traded to New York or LA and win a World Series
I knew the bullpen was going to blow it for Skenes. The Pirates should have just left him in to finish 5 innings, especially after the meltdown both relievers had after Skenes left. BTW, the positioning of O'Neil Cruz cost them a couple of hits and at least one run. It looked like he was playing a softball Middle Fielder position and it cost the Pirates more than once. Mangers today are too quick to pull guys, even veterans. We are seeing tons of pitchers pulled with one or two outs in the 5th inning. The only thing worse is the vanishing Closer on many teams. High Leverage Situation my @$$............... It's a mental thing and the fact that experienced baseball people don't seem to understand that is mind boggling.
Throwing Straight Gas 🔥🔥🔥
GOAT 🐐 GOAT 🐐 GOAT 🐐
It got so quiet in there like watching tiger woods golf
Faster,fast ball.
Looks to need breaking ball like curb or splitter
He will be back in the minors by next week.
It is just the way it was meant to be.
No he's here to stay,
Maybe if he threw 12 balls in a row, but I don't think that's even possible
Got that Ron Burgundy stache going...
Go Cubs!
so he has a wife and is dating livvy 💀
Well it could’ve been wife’s bf
GigaChad
Lol
Crazy
What does this mean
It's like when you max out your player rating on MLB: The Show.
You watch a guy with this kind of talent and you realize it’s sad one that he’s on the Pirates and two, it’s just a matter of time until he’s a Yankee, Dodger or Redsox
The new rookie is the real deal.😊
(24/5/12)
2 K's a walk and a dude almost takes him yard.
Welcome to the show kid.
PAUL SKENES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So when is his Tommy John surgery
There’s a tell with his changeup sometimes. His pitching arm swings out a bit wider.
Unless you're a player who's only been a pitcher, your shoulders and elbows are healthy.
I think it's better to throw with about 80% force for a long time.
Yeah now show the inning they pulled him in the middle of
Hope he has a great career but throwing that hard is not sustainable for his body.
Geaux Tigers!
Kerry Wood 2.0
check the baseball cap. what is he doing
Morel cranked that 96+ mph pitch and the ball went no where….. 🤔
