Skenes is electric. I hope and pray that his arm will hold up. A pitcher who throws hard tends to break down, quickly and often. Guys like Maddox and Glavine hardly ever missed their turn because they were finesse pitchers.

Gosh, it was an absolute pleasure to wake Skenes play at LSU last season. I had a ton of fun watching how good he was then, and I hope he keeps this up. He's a killer on the mound.

Impressive pitcher. What I liked most was that regardless of his pitch selection all of his pitches were in the strike zone. His fast ball was lights but so were his other pitches.
Should’ve just left him in there to get the win. Bullpen absolutely imploded.

Yeah, Skenes is on a strict pitch count this season. It's smart, they don't want to burn out their investment.

This dudes arm is crazy but being a starter throwing that many pitches that high of velocity can be concerning. Hopefully the pirates staff doesnt overwork his arm this year.

Damn, I still remember seeing he was just getting drafted and all of a sudden here he is already having a pretty good MLB debut. Hope he's gonna keep on being healthy and have a grand old time in the majors!

Skenes became a starter in 2022 and has logged 285 innings which includes college, milb and mlb innings. He is a true talent and will on get better as he toes the rubber and goes through lineups. I think he is less likely to get injured than Strider because he is smaller than Skenes and has a more aggressive wind up than Skenes and had 513 innings when he went down. Alcantara is a better comp in my opinion, similar size and delivery to Skenes and he went 900 innings before going down. Of course Skenes could go down in his next start, but I think he plays for a long time before his elbow barks because his mechanics are solid and he has room to get stronger and conditioning at the mlb level is next to none (except maybe Japan).

@@Bakarost ok.. a sport is just a sport, we must support it. I also watch baseball even after I'm from a nation where there is no trace of baseball, if you really don't care about foreign sports then why you follow football then? its a foreign game too.
What a feeling that must be walking to the dugout and everybody standing.
I guarantee he does better next game. You could tell how nervous he was...and for good reason. The entire baseball world was watching that game and he knew it. If he controls those fastballs (which he has great control over, just not so much this game), he becomes almost impossible to hit. He pitches so many off speed pitches because when someone bats against him, hes throwing so hard that they basically have to watch for the fastball or they'll never catch up to it. That is such a lethal combination...but you have to be damn near inhuman to make it work. This dude is damn near inhuman.
Geezus critics he was amped up , it was his first start and a bunch of you criticize him. Should i list all the veteran aces who got destroyed their first game this year? Zach wheeler the best pitcher in baseball got rocked by miami. He has great stuff let him adjust to the league before putting him down.
