Everyone hating on the 3DS version really isn't taking into account the whole issue of screen size. On actual hardware with a little 5-inch screen or whatever it is, the game looks great and very comparable to the Wii original. If you blow it up to the size of a television screen, of course it's going to look rough compared to something *meant* to run on a screen with that many pixels. Xenoblade on 3DS is definitely an occasion where the system was punching above its weight class, and I'll give it credit for that.
刁斤干 nah the poster is right because you also have to take into account pixel density so you are probably watching this RUclips video on your phone or computer or tv which I’m assuming all are at least 1080p when viewing the 3ds version basically the pixels are spread out to fill the display area, when the game runs at something like 280p that is a huge loss in image clarity. On the 3ds screen closer to the native screen resolution the 280p doesn’t looks so bad

I played the three versions, and I have to say the original has it's charm. Emulated it looks amazing, not to mention the HD Texture pack project. The 3DS is a work of art in terms of porting it, great work. And the Switch one is amazing, but the feeling of cutey characters doesn't add up. I liked the previous ones, like Vagrant Story or FF XII. Sorry, I wanted to add to your comment and ended up giving a full opinion.

Very easy to do) However, the game actually turned out far better looking than he expected, because the INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEES at Monolith Soft took it upon themselves to remake some things that we're never meant to be remade. Takahashi never gave them the order, they just did it themselves out of passion and love for the game. That's why he was surprised the final product looked far better than he intended. So in the end, environments, some enemies (Mechon and Bosses), and equipment were remade as well. So in the end, about 60% of the game was remade. This is still quite the feat considering the fact: Half of Monolith is working on BOTW2 Another Quarter is working on a brand new IP that has yet to be announced And the latter quarter working on D.E. In conclusion: We don't deserve Monolith Soft.
You just explained it was a remake, though. Just remaking one part of the game makes it a remake. Anyway that’s semantics, the good news is how improved the game is, and I’m not talking just visuals here. I never had a problem with the game’s visuals, they were amazing on the Wii, I didn’t buy the N3DS version, it made no sense to me as I had the Wii version, and the N3DS one was a downgrade compared to it (didn’t even have the original Japanese VO). Xenoblade clicked with me because my way of thinking is very similar to MonolithSoft, that’s why since Xenoblade I buy every single one of their game. I can’t wait to play my GoAT again, this time I won’t put 350+ hours to 100% complete the main playthrough, as I have everything documented. I even know how to use the clock change to maximize one of the achievements, and not having to grind through it.
MrAmu11 I don’t think it’s their choice tbh. To be honest, many Monolith Soft fan’s are pretty upset Nintendo is using them as BOTW team rather than as an independent. I think they’re contractually obligated to help Nintendo with projects that require a huge boost in resources. Granted, BOTW was ONLY good because Monolith was on it. You can just tell that quality of it is far superior than any other Zelda game-because Monolith always puts quality first, even WITH limited resources. I just hope Nintendo gives back Monolith it’s staff back.
MrOokaze I’m glad you enjoy their game, as have I. And sure, I described a remake but RE2 Remake and FF7 Remake have completely elevated (or ruined. Depends on who you ask) the definition. So Partial Remake is the best way to describe it by today’s standards.

The Switch version looks great! It's easy to disregard the Switch's graphical capabilities because of the PS4 and Xbox One, but yeah. The anti-aliasing is near flawless!

And there is a lot going on in this game. More than in BOTW. Which had slower pace and no allies at all that needed real time AI processing (Wolf Link doesn't count. That AI was extremely simple). And honestly. Can you look at that Switch version and say it looks bad?

I'm really excited to play this on the switch! Love the game on 3ds (doesn't look as bad on an actual 3ds screen) my only issue was how tiny the text was, gameplay wise it ran good and was enjoyable. Sometimes difficult to tell where the front and back of monsters are because of how small the screen is but still manageable, just would always get a headache trying to squint my eyes to read the menus and dialogue

@@sasook Assets were remade (models, soundtrack, cutscenes, etc) but the game is still using the Wii version as a base. The old code and engine. A remake would mean from the ground up, code included. Unfortunately they weren’t able to fully remake it since half of their team was working on ToTK

The Switch version is honestly everything I wanted for this game (I wanted a remaster since Xenoblade X came out, honestly) but, I realise with this video that there's this sort of yellow/green-ish hue to it and I'm not sure I like it. Agreed. To meet in the original it feels like the right amount of contrast in similarity were given to the character models and made them blend so well with the environment. And the switch version not only does it have a bit of a blue/yellow hue to the whole game but the character models also have more saturated colors which I’m not ecstatic about. Still eye candy to look at though.

Just bought this game yesterday and am blown away by how much better it looks (and smoother it runs) than the Wii version. Monolith have outdone themselves. I hope we get an X remake/remaster sooner or later, too.

Character designs changes a lot, I love the new faces but this is very different, very anime. Anyway, the game is so pretty on Switch. The textures and global lighting of the scenery are so good, it really serves well for the atmosphere of the game ! Really happy to discover the game with this remaster/remake.
6:26 I dont understand why both 3DS and Wii the character run normally but in the Switch version he run like one frame longer which make it looks like he's floating/cartoony.
This is probably my nostalgia for graphics talking but I really like the Wii and 3DS art style a lot more. Everything just seems to mesh together a lot better and in the switch version all the character models just look kind of plastic. I also like the original version because it makes some of the characters look more mature. Bottom line, I just feel that the original version of the games graphics seem to suit the art style and tone of the game a lot better than the switch. That being said I still absolutely adore the switch version. It is absolute Icandy to look at. I was just talking about how I feel like some of the original art style is not as present in the remake as it is in the original version. I also just really like 3DS/Wii graphics.
Considering that DE is a remake, I was very surprised how the cutscenes have the same animations, camera angles and the timing of each shot, which gives it more of a touched-up-remaster vibe.
That's because that's precisely what a remake is : the same game remade. The cutscenes are the same because they didn't have the budget to make a new game but a remake, so the timing was not to be changed, otherwise they would have to redo all the music for the different timings. Xenoblade is a masterpiece because everything is closely tied together, so changing one single thing out of its boundaries will destroy everything else. You should know this if you've played the game.
Coz it's not a remake. Cutscenes are the same because they never been remade at all. And since they all in-engine, only base char models need to be remade. Same goes for animation and such. They didn't touch it like at all. Only graphics was updated and menus.

@@MrJamieRose They really did a number on this one. The community refuses to address the problems with the usability - it's a really touchy subject to them. To me, the simpler the better. You can have complicated mechanics but make it understandable and accessable. Story and gameplay are important, but usability is a great part of software development and Xenoblade has a very poor usability.

You get the hang of it eventually, but there is a pretty big learning curve. Other than that, I'd say the game is almost perfect. Cuando eran solamente esas dos versiones, decidí comprar la de Wii porque de las dos era la menos fea. El port de 3ds me recuerda al port de BioShock para iPad, ya te imaginarás el enorme downgrade.

I just recently finished play the game on the 3DS. And it looks nothing like this. Not sure how they recorded the footage but a LOT of the quality has been reduced.
They technically made everyone lighter. Look at Shulk, he’s much lighter in the Switch version too. Most everything is brighter and lighter, actually. Shulk and Dicksons hair are much more yellow now too. I think they just made everything brighter and that just makes him look less tan.
I do kinda like how the camera was pulled back in the original game but I'm not UNhappy with the decision to have it pushed in a little more. The game really does look better overall. edit: so i don't trust my eyes anymore. is it the camera or ... are the characters just bigger now? lol

The citra emulator is great. Using it on the lgv60 and it feels so natural with the dual screen.

Assets were remade (models, soundtrack, cutscenes, etc) but the game is still using the Wii version as a base. The old code and engine. A remake would mean from the ground up, code included. Unfortunately they weren’t able to fully remake it since half of their team was working on ToTK

@@AdanNey En donde tengas más accesibilidad, ya sea que el de 3DS sea más barato o el de Switch es más fácil de encontrar, lo recomiendo que lo juegues en la Definitive Edition ya que tiene mejores optimizaciones de FPS y evidentemente alcanza el 720p en calidad gráfica, cosa que 3DS no, aún así es tu decisión

It's still very shocking that this is running on 3DS at all. Also, that's a pretty substantial improvement going from the Wii version to the Switch version.

The Switch version is honestly everything I wanted for this game (I wanted a remaster since Xenoblade X came out, honestly) but, I realise with this video that there's this sort of yellow/green-ish hue to it and I'm not sure I like it. I think I prefered the colour in the original one, for most cases.

Agreed. To meet in the original it feels like the right amount of contrast in similarity were given to the character models and made them blend so well with the environment. And the switch version not only does it have a bit of a blue/yellow hue to the whole game but the character models also have more saturated colors which I’m not ecstatic about. Still eye candy to look at though.

Just bought this game yesterday and am blown away by how much better it looks (and smoother it runs) than the Wii version. Monolith have outdone themselves. I hope we get an X remake/remaster sooner or later, too.

@@omarxd2001 Puedes empezar por cualquiera de los tres, aunque el xenoblade chronicles 2 tiene algunas referencias que sólo veras si jugaste el 1, pero puedes empezar por cualquiera. Son autoconclusivos.

Character designs changes a lot, I love the new faces but this is very different, very anime. Anyway, the game is so pretty on Switch. The textures and global lighting of the scenery are so good, it really serves well for the atmosphere of the game ! Really happy to discover the game with this remaster/remake.

This is probably my nostalgia for graphics talking but I really like the Wii and 3DS art style a lot more. Everything just seems to mesh together a lot better and in the switch version all the character models just look kind of plastic. I also like the original version because it makes some of the characters look more mature. Bottom line, I just feel that the original version of the games graphics seem to suit the art style and tone of the game a lot better than the switch.
That being said I still absolutely adore the switch version. It is absolute Icandy to look at. I was just talking about how I feel like some of the original art style is not as present in the remake as it is in the original version. I also just really like 3DS/Wii graphics.
Honestly the 3ds held its own against this game. Best looking 240p I’ve ever seen. (Not even being sarcastic)

Very good almost remake quality!The only issues is some pop in on the tree loading textures.
Considering that DE is a remake, I was very surprised how the cutscenes have the same animations, camera angles and the timing of each shot, which gives it more of a touched-up-remaster vibe.
That's because that's precisely what a remake is : the same game remade. The cutscenes are the same because they didn't have the budget to make a new game but a remake, so the timing was not to be changed, otherwise they would have to redo all the music for the different timings. Xenoblade is a masterpiece because everything is closely tied together, so changing one single thing out of its boundaries will destroy everything else. You should know this if you've played the game.
Coz it's not a remake. Cutscenes are the same because they never been remade at all. And since they all in-engine, only base char models need to be remade. Same goes for animation and such. They didn't touch it like at all. Only graphics was updated and menus.

@@MrJamieRose They really did a number on this one. The community refuses to address the problems with the usability - it's a really touchy subject to them. To me, the simpler the better. You can have complicated mechanics but make it understandable and accessable.
Story and gameplay are important, but usability is a great part of software development and Xenoblade has a very poor usability.
@@Xgil2Play I mean, the game is rated Teen, so we can assume the people that are supposed to be playing it aren't kids. But it is a little overwhelming at first. You get the hang of it eventually, but there is a pretty big learning curve. Other than that, I'd say the game is almost perfect. Well thought out story, beautiful music, (mostly) talent voice actors.

Es que la versión de New Nintendo 3DS se ha de jugar en una pantalla pequeña. Si pillas unos gráficos para una pantalla de menos de un palmo y los pasas a una de 50 pulgadas pues... normal.

@@Bichiquitin Aunque lo veas en una pantalla de cine, o en una pantalla del tamaño de un botón, el juego sigue teniendo unos modelos con menos polígonos, ausencia de follaje y unas texturas pésimas que ya lo eran en Wii.
Cuando eran solamente esas dos versiones, decidí comprar la de Wii porque de las dos era la menos fea. El port de 3ds me recuerda al port de BioShock para iPad, ya te imaginarás el enorme downgrade.

They technically made everyone lighter. Look at Shulk, he’s much lighter in the Switch version too. Most everything is brighter and lighter, actually. Shulk and Dicksons hair are much more yellow now too. I think they just made everything brighter and that just makes him look less tan.

I do kinda like how the camera was pulled back in the original game but I'm not UNhappy with the decision to have it pushed in a little more. The game really does look better overall.
