13:46 I actually liked how Mario Kart Channel actually read your save data to pull your unlocked karts. It made the channel THE slowest to load its preview, but it was so cool to be 10-12, unlock a new kart, and then see it show up on your next visit to the Mario Kart Channel.

Fun Fact: The Wii was intended to play DVD's you can find a third disc by changing some code!
Not so fun fact:The newer models of the wii didn’t have the gamecube disk, instead it was just a white disk on the screen, because the newer models didn’t accept gamecube disks for some reason.
The wii would’ve somehow been even more successful if that was the case

I think this is only true for older Wiis, sadly. If I recall correctly they removed the unused DVD functionality on the newer black Wiis

5:10 This single WIi intro gave me so much nostalgia. I remember I was 5 years old and I was going grocery shopping with my mom at a Vons and I asked her to rent a movie from the Redbox just as we were leaving and she agreed. I was originally going to get Despicable Me but I saw that you could rent video games. At the time, I only had 4 games for my Wii, Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Mario and Sonic at the WInter Olympic Games. I had just started my Sonic phase and I saw that Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing was available so my mom got it for me. When I got home I quickly ate my dinner and went to play the new game I had just gotten and I immediately knew it was my favorite game. I remember when I went into the game from the menu, the sound was really loud and my mom told me to put it down. After I made my licence in the game, I saw a ton of characters I had no idea who were so I picked sonic. After a month, my mom had to return it and I was really sad. After 3 months without the game, it was my birthday and my best friend came over. He heard me talking about the game alot at school and he ended up getting it for me. I didnt even want to pizza or cake so I ran to my living room and put the disk into the Wii. I handed out 3 remotes to my other friends and we played it. After 2 hours of playing everyone got bored exept for me and I let everyone eat my cake just so that I could play my game. I ended up unlocking everything in 3 days.
this game was the absolute foundation of my childhood, but i had it on the 360 rather than the wii. I actually found a wii disc of the game lying in my basement, but it doesn't work :(
I remember going to a videogame shop called game planet (the ones from LATAM and Mexican know what I'm talking about) but i owned the PS3 version, never owned the Wii one

I’m glad I found another person that loves this game. I used to play it all the time on my Wii and I ended up completing all the challenges on the game with an AAA rank. I loved it to death.

Fun fact! The reason that new Just Dance games are still being put on the Wii, is because the console is used as physical therapy for children. It's really a great reasoning for it, and not necessarily because Ubisoft makes money from it.

@@beansthedino3029 I used to put in the disc when i was by myself the disc wouldn't read and make a weird sound i'm pretty sure another reason i was scared of it was that i used to have plants vs zombies on the xbox and played with my brother and when we lost my brother and i would run away from the sound because it was loud.

Those little features were adding a lot to the mood of the wii. The twilight princess one took me back to the Christmas of 2006. The living room was full of ripped gift wrap, I was sat on the floor with my Christmas pyjama, and this sound came out from the tv and mark the beginning of an epic journey.
Why did Nintendo get rid of this when they unveiled the Wifi U? I totally love it. It's like their way of saying "Stop to Smell the Roses"

I can’t even begin to tell you how emotional that City Folk intro makes me feel. My sister and I spent so many hours on that game, and we played it consistently for at least four years. We even had the Wii Speak so we could go visit our cousin and couple of friends who also played and talk to them, although we could have just done it over the phone.
I know a lot of people fell in love with the game with Wild World, but City Folk/GC games were my whole childhood for me.
I started City Folk in like 2018 and it was my first animal crossing but damn that game is good
I just started to play city folk (in fact I was about to play just now but decided to go on yt instead) a few weeks ago. I bought it off GameStop. ACNH was my first AC game but I loved it so much AND I still have a working Wii so I thought let's get accf. It's a pretty good game :) and although I never played it when it came out I can literally still FEEL the nostalgia 🥺
This is what gaming should feel like. You get a new game, insert the disc, and to top it all off, you see a 5 second animation getting you hyped for the game.
The fact that I would literally choose to watch those disks spin as entertainment instead of actually playing games ☠️
